Massive FAKE Silver Scam Operation - BUYER BEWARE

  • In this video I talk about all of the fake silver that is now flooding into the bullion marketplace. This massive silver scam has been going on for years, but it is getting worse. The new fake silver coins are much better than the old fake silver coins. I talk about all of the fake American Silver Eagle coins that are now out there. It is illegal to sell these fake silver coins, but the companies from China don't care. Many people have been scammed by these fake bullion dealers and I want to put the word out there. I have seen fake silver bars, fake silver coins, and fake silver bullion before , but never anything this good before. The fake silver eagle that I purchased weighed correctly, was not magnetic, and even had the silver eagle security feature duplicated. The silver eagle did not end up being silver I believe it is made out of copper and silver plated. Please share this video so less people out there will be scammed in the future.

I bought 5 of these in an ebay auction. If this happens to you, the one thing you DON'T want to tell eBay is that they're counterfeit. Ebay makes you jump through all kinds of hoops and they take forever to refund your money. Instead, you should say that the item was not as described. I claimed that they were mislabeled as ASEs but, they were actually theatrical props. I returned the fakes and had my money back in about 5 days.

I bought through Ebay and they refunded no problem just took a bit. I just clicked that they weren’t as described, and when it asked for an explanation I said they were counterfeit and posted a photo of them stuck to a magnet. It gave me a label to send them back and I sent them, but they came back to me. Then I contacted Ebay and said they came back to me and I think they were scammers, and Ebay refunded my money. It didn’t require a lot of hoops, but it took time doing it that way and probably wasted more of Ebay’s money, but I didn’t see how to report it without going through the prescribed channels on the website. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Lesson learned I guess.

In the process of getting a total Ebay debacle settled right now. Ten eagles that were just slightly less than other seller's--passed the magnet and ping tests; however, there were subtle differences on the coin's markings (the branches had little "berries" and the denticles were just slightly larger). The seller shipped from a New Jersey address that was an abandoned factory, despite being located in California, then used an arbitrary return address of some empty land in Burbank. It immediately forwarded to another arbitrary location, then gets stuck in postal limbo. As far as returning them, use the not as described option, and if it doesn't get to the return address promptly, stay on top of the Ebay case so it remains valid. I feel that these people are using the returns process, and the difficulty in navigating Ebay's support to make returns super difficult.

They claim it takes 3 to 5 business days to process the money through their account and 3-5 more to get it shipped. He needs to let folks know they're going to hold onto your shipment while they get interest on the float. I told them I wanted to cancel and they are going to charge a fee for that. I have real concerns whether they are actually legit, definitely not consumer friendly.

There is a mild bit of irony to having a video coming out today about fake coins. I had gone to a local coin shop today to pick up some junk silver and when I got home I found a 2007 quarter mixed in. I'm not saying that the shop did it, or even that it was sold to them intentionally like that. Just always have to be on the lookout.

I agree. As Silver Dragon said, this is most likely a silver-plated copper round since copper is one of the few other common metals that are diamagnetic besides gold and lead. Of course, if it were "fake" in the sense that it was made of gold instead of silver, then I'm all for it!! Lead has a density similar to that of silver, which is a potentially a bit problematic. But , as you suggested, a good ol' fashioned cheap and easy ping test would have identified this one as fake right away regardless of what other metal (lead, gold, or copper) it was made of. Of course, if it was made out of lead, you don't even need a proper ping test, just drop it on a table and listen to the dull thud of a sound that lead would generate rather than the classic ringing sound of silver. Also, assuming the diameter checks out (if not, we can declare it fake right away), if the fake is indeed made of copper, the thickness should be about 15% greater than the real one since copper is about 15% less dense than silver. It looked like this was indeed the case when Dragons held up both coins next to each other. It'd be nice for Dragons to point out if this was indeed the case by placing them on a table right next to one another.

I figure nobody is trying to copy the Germania Mint bars especially with the hologram. I avoid ASEs entirely because of the insane premiums.
