this was a life saver . my old ipad was lying unused for a long 4 years. now it has found a purpose

It worked without any issue with a macbook air m1 and an ipad mini 4. Ended up buying the display and air package, the air allows it to work without cable, a little bit of stutter but fine. Thanks for the tip

Worked flawlessly!!!! with a VERY OLD IPAD 4th Gen A1458, and a VERY VERY Old Macbook Air I5 (11inch, mid 2011) running mas OS High Sierra. It gave my old electronics a new purpose. Great buy! Thank you for the tip.

This is a really cool idea. So far I have the YAM app on the iPad Mini (1st Gen is on the ilst) and it is asking for a USB connection. On the Mac it is asking for a Air or wireless? connection. Just trying to get these two to talk the same connection type. I've lreached out to the developer for help.

@@YJACOY I have usb dongle with standard usb-a to lightning cable. It also works over Wifi with the Air version

Excellent ! I've a MBP16 Intel + 2 external monitors and FINALLY an old iPad2 connected. The app is completely flexible, you can rearrange windows in system prefs exactly like you would with any other monitor. For 10 years we heard "that's not possible, tech is to old bla bla", not in Asia. Just plug & play for 8€ the resurection

I’m searching for ipad lighting adapter that use capture card and im ended playing this vid, well i have old ipad air 2 for mac os simply using air play, or if not support on your ipad use duet display really full support for even iphone as a second monitor

Hi and thanks for this! Will this run wirelessly or do you need to connect the iPad directly to the computer? I have sidecar but it constantly disconnects so I thought I'd try this. Sidecar does work with a direct connection but I would rather have it run without any direct connection.

Hey man! I have a M1 MacBook Air connected to a hdmi display, will it work as a third display?
You can use the ipad display on a teleprompter to keep eye contact with your clients on a call. That’s why I wanna do this
Don't quote me, but I do think it will work. I had a Macbook, external display, and the iPad all hooked up at one point.
Can confirm it works. I have the same MBA and it is connected to both Yam Display and an HDMI (or USB-C) monitor. So, in total, 3 monitors at the same time (2 external plus macbook's own display).

I am not too sure about whether or not this can support two iPads. You can test this out with the free version though to see if it does. I would love to know.

No. From what others have shared a gen 1 is probably a bit too old

unfortunately mine doesn't work, 12' MacBook pro and iPad pro1 wont connect bummer.... I've spent days trying to get my MacBook to work with at least 5 different apps....I've updated both units nothing...
It's all in the definition of 'old' iPad. I didn't get it to work on my old iPad. Probably because it's an iPad 3 😞 My mac keeps telling me to enabvle air mode by prefernces (which doesn'tr exist in preferences, but probably means airdrop and hand-off). My iPad 3 doesn't have airdrop or handoff so the iPad-app stays waiting on an USB connection.
I have no clue how to get this to work on an old ipad.

How did you connect your third screen .
If you are referring to my set up in the video.... I have the mac and the big monitor hooked up with a standard HDMI cable. The Ipad is then hooked up through the app using a standard charging cable.

does this effect on my iPad battery? because when I plug the iPad with the laptop it starts to charge.
I am not entirely sure the specifics, but the ipad charges as you use it so it will always stay on, but this will also put some where and tear on the device.
Could this be done as a Raspberry Pi 4 using the old iPad as a monitor?

Hi there. I am not too sure which IOS's it will work with. My iPad no longer updates and has an old IOS and this still works just fine.

@@matthewryanLCSW This does not appear to be a native Windows app. Needs to run through an emulator. Would probably avoid.

@@fabianbinder3681 The problem with Duet is not only that it is a paid app (which I would be OK with actually), but that they charge on a subscription basis only… which is ridiculous for that kind of app.

It is wired by USB. You use a standard charging USB that come with your iPhone.
It is SOOOOOOO slow. makes it useless. and i am running it on an m2 mac.
So strange, when I use it with a MacBook 2016 and an old Ipad Air 2 it works just fine.
