The screen tearing is likely a symptom of the capture device rather than the app. Going with a higher end USB capture card from AverMedia or Elgato and using a USB A adapter would probably fix the tearing issue and maybe improve latency if you're someone who would use this setup enough to make that worth it.

The requirement of a capture card means this is a bit more expensive…. But for sure apple has to work on a full on integrated version where you don’t need a capture card.
Just one cable, or an HDMI dongle so you can keep the iPad charged so it doesn’t die in the middle of gaming. I’d see this working well on the go with anything, especially a Nintendo switch in the car with a 100 watt hour battery that can support both devices, or just the switch in docked mode. Cuz Xbox’ and the PS5 would be pretty power hungry.

i became obsessed with this when the beta for 17 was out. some tips,
your capture card isn’t good. i bought that exact same one for the exact same reason probably reading the same sources to get this all running lol. but you need a more expensive one. 100-150$ capture card is for beast level but settling for around 70$ price range or the cheaper one your using is okay too.
its just a whole lot less lag
    also, major tip here.
three finger double tap on the screen zooms to fill. this works great with cyberpunk or gta with a ps5.
three finger tap hold an drag to zoom, then if you have a mouse or magic keyboard you can use the cursor to align it filling the screen

Have you tried closing the app rather than deleting it? Also, lag isn't a problem on sidecar so that would be preferable to this solution when using it with a Mac although I guess it's not possible to get sidecar working with a Mac mini alone.

As cool of thing as this is you wouldn't be able to hook this setup to a player or PS5 for the ability to watch movies (at least in the US). There is a specific setting that is enable that stops the DVD players from playing while plugged into a capture card.
