    I finally decided to get one. Mainly because I finally pulled the trigger on starting to collect super nintendo games, probably my favorite system of all time. I would not recommend using it hooked up to a tv, as the output is definitely not good, Maybe there will be a time and place for that feature to be used but definitely not in my living room. As I also purchased a way better option. I wanted to get a supaboy mainly to play on the go, on trips or things like that, not so portable but meh, It's the only way to play with original cartridges, kinda like the Nomad but this one for the super nintendo. It will also double as a game tester whenever I'll be on the lookout for games, at garage sales, conventions, flea markets, etc.

    • @RoXolid

    My most favorite SNES game of all time is Super Metroid.
    I would consider purchasing one of these Gold Edition Super Boys if it doesn't have that cartridge death grip like my past Super Boy S that I had to ship back. While this is nice, I'm currently waiting for the My Arcade Super Retro Champ to be released. This console also has a cartridge reader at the bottom for GENESIS games as well.
    Also, I have the GamerZ Tech NES Bitboy! That is best NES console you could ever buy. Lot of cool features.

    I have an original model Supaboy, as well as a Yobo FC16 Go, but I'm not really a fan of either of them. The two newest Supaboy models (SFC and Black Gold) are definite improvements over the first, but I don't think they're for me. The D-pad is a major factor in that.
    I don't have a favorite SNES game, but a few that I come back to often are Mario All-Stars, Mega Man X, DKC2, and an odd one in Super EDF (Earth Defense Force). EDF is not a great shooter, but I find it somewhat relaxing. I think it's the absurdly chill music. Stage 2, a night stage over a bright cityscape really tickles my nostalgia bone for some reason.

    My favourite SNES game is Super Mario All Stars I'm hoping that it makes an appearance on the Nintendo online service soon, I also like Sim city too but that will probably never turn up on the N.O.S anytime soon. All though I think the Supaboy is a good product it's not for me, by the time I import the product from the U.S I've gotta pay import taxes and that kinda sours the deal for me, sadly. Hi, Gary. Great video I think this is now either the third or fourth iteration. Supaboy, Supaboy S, Supaboy SFC, and now the Black-Gold edition. This one seems just like the SFC but in black and gold? i have the SFC. I also have issues with the D-pad, mostly with accuracy. And the face buttons are a little too loud. And I would think that they would have added HDMI by now. I like that the design is inspired by an SNES controller. And I love that it’s compatible with my existing SNES controllers. Overall, I enjoy playing it around the house, and found multicarts are great for on the go. And, oh yeah, my favorite SNES game is Star 🦊.

    I may have a Super Mario All-Stars for sale... The controls look a little small, but it could just mean you have big hands. How solid does it feel? Like a Original Gameboy? I do have a Hyperkin portable NES player I picked up a few years ago, that I use to test games while out and about and it always felt very light.

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the inputs are about the same size as an SNES controller. They didn't feel small, I'll say that. It does feel solid and well put-together, I know I've felt other clone systems that feel cheap and like knock-offs, this does not.

    Great review! I like the color scheme of this product. My favorite games are Super Mario World, Earthbound and A Link to the Past. I am curious, I am having trouble loading a US version of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It is saying the game pack is not designed for your super famicom or super nes. I believe the game to be authentic, the board has the Nintendo copyright and the GSU-2 processor. You mentioned in your video that this is a game that can cause some issues but the version you tried was the not the US version. Does the US version of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island work on this device?

    Hey just wondering, how does the thing hold up now?

    Gonna ask in here cause you always seem to answer questions and I appreciate that.I’m looking to buy one of these and they all seem to be sold out so I unfortunately have to pay resale price on eBay. The thing is I was hoping to buy the second model with the color scheme more akin to an actual snes/super famicom. The only problem is that model seems to be selling for wayyy more money that the newer black and gold model , maybe because it’s older and there’s less stock? There doesn’t seem to be any glaring differences between the two models aside from color. I guess I’m just asking if you know why this massive price difference might be? Or if you know if there’s any serious difference in quality or features between the two models

      Hey, thanks for the message. I took some time to look into this and I really am not seeing much for stock availability of the Supa Boy S, that's the version you're looking for. My understanding is the S has better game compatibility, better battery, and overall better cartridge connector. It is also my understanding that the Black Gold version is more or less the same, just with a fresh coat of paint. I hope this helps!

      I just wanted to say that I have and love the SupaBoySfc and I have a non official SD2SNES cart. Anyway I wanted to say that i have in separate folders the games that utilize each specific chipset so CX4, DSP, FX, S-001, and SA-1. Anyway, all the games run perfectly like star fox for example and has the identical slowdown at title screen that it has when run on a regular snes console. So yes, this has and runs all the SNES/SFC games that use all the special chipsets fine as well as MSU1 if you have a SD2SNES.
      I personally love using my SupaBoySfc on a CRT and I know it's not shared but I'm glad it has AV cables as i cant play 8/16 bit on a HDTV as for me a CRT is king. HDTV not only has bars but doesn't have scanlines and some other things that CRT does....but its personal preference.

    whenever you have problems with street fighter it makes me wonder if there is an issue with the max responsiveness of the buttons (like it delays subsequent key presses by a few too many milliseconds) or if there's an issue with the maximum amount of buttons it will register at once (like it will only pay attention to 2 or 3 buttons at a time)

    • @RoXolid

      A lot of the issues have to do with the fact that as the games have progressed you can move faster to pull off the moves. In the older games, if you're too quick to perform the controller inputs. The older games just can't keep up is all.

    Really, the SNES was made for composite. You can get S-Video out of it, but composite was king back in the day. I notice the color is fine. People were saying it was washed out.

      @@RoXolid And that is a good thing, as it's an enormous space-saver! ;-) You can also easily mod them to play any SNES game you own or that's no longer available for sale (i.e., out of print). The one and only disadvantage to the NES and SNES Classics is that light gun games don't work. So, if you enjoy Zapper and Super Scope games, you will need to keep an old CRT TV around for those titles. Other than that, the mini consoles solve all other problems for non-portable gaming. It's a no-brainer!

    very bad review. i cant believe people did not put you more thumbs down. you dont even show us the screen of the supaboy but only from very far. the purpose of buying a portable snes is not to play it on a big screen. otherwise you are better using a real snes. we see the image that keeps blinking on your tv in your video. is it doing this all the time ? looks crap to me. we do see the screen of the supaboy a bit in your video but from very far and the black color seems to be grey. so i guess the supabiy screen sucks ? hard to tell with your bad review because we dont see it and you dont know how to make a review. i will look elsewhere to know how it really is.

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry you didn't like the review, but let me explain why I shot it the way I did and try to answer your questions:
      Why didn't I show more game play on the device itself? - Color, audio, responsiveness were similar from on the device to what I was seeing on-screen using the hookups provided. When you shoot an LCD display such as this with a camera, you don't get an accurate representation of what is on-screen either. You also have light glare to fight, along with having a camera between the game player and the unit itself. It can be quite distracting. Since this has the capability to capture right off the device I thought that was the cleanest way to get an accurate representation of what I was seeing where I was filming.
      This is also why you see the "Black color that seems to be grey". It all has to do with the lighting. Now, if it had an infinite range for brightness adjustment I could have done more on the device itself without it looking washed out and basically unwatchable. If you look at the 2 portable monitor reviews I have posted recently, those have brightness adjustments which you can use to dial in the image when shooting at the screen.
      The "flashing" you see, that's the refresh rate of the TV & input source compared to what the camera is shooting. That can happen when you are shooting a 24-30FPS video source in 60FPS.
      I hope this makes sense.
