Took them a few tries to get it right. I have the original version and I'm interested in picking this one up, now that they've added the proper aspect ratio option. Thanks for your review PoPnGames!

The original and the S were always able to play the Japanese versions
The SFC version was made to have 4:3 along with it's 16:9 because people didn't like the stretched screen

I live in Australia so I really want a North American one just to be different. Means I could start buying NTSC carts too!!! Cool vid brotha!!!

There's really no separate Japanese, North American or European version of Supaboy. Both the S and SFC have PAL/NTSC switch that makes the device appear to the game either a PAL or NTSC console. Both versions can run Japanese, American and European Super Nintendo / Super Famicom games. The only difference is in the color of buttons, and the option to switch aspect ratio. But if you want the S model because of the color of buttons, I'm sure it's still available from many sellers. (Or, if you find a broken S model for low price, maybe you could take the buttons from it and switch to the SFC model.) I actually have the S model, but would like a lot of the option to use the "correct" aspect ratio in games.

How did this "add Super Famicom compatibility"? I have the SupaBoy S, and it runs all Super Famicom games I've tried. And my best controller for it is actually a genuine Super Famicom controller. I'd say that electronically the controllers and cartridges for SFC are identical with NTSC SNES. The only thing I can see to be about SFC on this console is the buttons. Most likely the manufacturer needed a name for the newest version of the SupaBoy, came up with SFC, and reasoned it with the buttons. Which is totally fine. But I don't think any changes were made besides the cartridge slot, aspect ratio options and button colors.

Pauli Vaara the only difference between the S & SFC apart from the colours is that it has a 16:9 / 4:3 switch by holding the brightness button. They also claim to improve the connector but I doubt it.
I had 2 in the space of a week at the SFC launch. First one had a bent pin in the middle of the slot stopping it from reading carts. The replacement had a main board fault showing a blue screen. Amazon refused to sell a 3rd one due to possible production issues.

@@anonymousidea9119 lol. I knew the kit was gonna be fine once they got past the initial rush. I got another unit 3 months later from a local (UK) retailer and have not had issues at all. I think right now because of the portability I use it more than any other of my systems that can play SNES/SFC games.

I got the supaboy S version wich is good but the controllers are very tight to plug in, am affraid to damage them and they don’t seem to alway’s work properly, sometimes only a few buttons work while other times it works flawlessly, mmm.
Also the powerpak does not work on mine but i saw footage of it being work properly well on the 1st supa
    boy.
Has anyone any guess about these weirdnesses going on????

Damn this thing is sweet, how comfortable is it to hold and hit the buttons tho doesn't look like a lot of room to grab comfortably on the back?

Barry Allen it’s actually quite comfy. I prefer larger handhelds nowadays and it fits in my hands quite well.
