There is no physically possible way to support those big NES carts without a fairly large adapter like that. The carts are bulky, and the connector for them is bulky, so there's really not a good solution other than to buy a dedicated portable NES system (preferably a Famicom-type, as Famicom carts are much smaller than NES carts) I have a Supaboy (Hyperkin's version of the portable SNES) and just by itself, a portable console for SNES carts is a bit ridiculous. But if you don't mind looking a bit ridiculous it's a fun time. The Retroduo is the same deal. If you don't think that NES adapter is something you want to lug around, you can leave it at home and just use it for SNES games.

Thanks for the great review. Convinced me to take a leap of faith after all the mixed reviews and just finally got mine yesterday. Waited 3 months but well worth it. Plan to 'baby' mine 😊 Personally loved your tip of using the hang tag to reduce the wiggle. 👍🏻
Ok, I have had my RDP a few weeks now, and I have had an occasional issue having to reinsert a game to boot up but really seldom. And for the tinny sound, I find the sound is probably the worst on the SNES games, but I think the sound kinda grows on you. As far as volume, mine has plenty of volume for me.
Don't modern TVs have composite in. I bought a TV just this year that has composite in (via an adapter) component in (via another adapter) and a SCART socket. Also, doesn't this actually use retroconsole on a chip or the actual hardware from the consoles in portable form?
Is this the best option for someone who wants to play classic NES, SNES, etc. games on their tv who doesn't have a console or are there other products like this that you can play older games on that are better? I can see portability being a plus, but I am not really interested in portability, just playing the games on my tv.
+Rick Koeppen Yeah there are combo consoles (not portable) that can do this. I saw one at a retro gaming shop just the other day, but I think it was more expensive than this and didn't run games from this many systems.
There's stuff like Retron5 which does 10 consoles and I'm not sure if that one does Roms as well. There all kinds of things like that out there. As far as I understand the retron uses RetroArch.
How come my controller adapter plugs in the other way, away from me? It adds unneeded stress to the wire and the port because it gets bent back around to have the wire come back towards me. I've looked all over the place and it seems everyone's plugs in so the wire comes towards the player except mine it points towards the top of the system, it sucks. I like the system other than that, and the wiggle room in the cartridge slot, crashing games sucks.
Are there any composite to HDMI converters you could recommend? I ordered one from aliexpress, but unfortunately it doesn't work as I'd like it to. It upscales the resolution to a widescreen format, thus distorting the picture - I'd prefer something that lets me keep the original 4:3 proportions.

3.Too cool for me.
Thanks for the great review. Convinced me to take a leap of faith after all the mixed reviews and just finally got mine yesterday. Waited 3 months but well worth it. Plan to 'baby' mine 😊 Personally loved your tip of using the hang tag to reduce the wiggle. 👍🏻
My first compatibility issue was with NES Burgertime by DE. It fired up the first time, then froze, then would not load after that.
Looks like a really awkward earphone hole. Did it have to be on top? In front of the cartridge sticker... And drooping down onto the bumper buttons.
Does your manual say there is an extended battery available separately?
A could you download the beat from the Sega Genesis Radical system with the 6 built in 1 game where you select what game you want to play ?
is there a PAL version from the RetroDuo Portable v2.0 by Retro-Bit SNES/NES Console? if not im not suprised. :( en how mutch does it cost?
Can I play famicom cartridges on this using my famicom to NES adapter?
Is this handheld only for US games or will it also play PAL-games for Europe ?
Would also like to know this!
What about the HunyBee does that work
It'll play mega drive master system and game boy advance with adapters they sell plus game genie.
As far as I understand the retron uses RetroArch.
i wanna have it but where else do you buy it
would the adapters work on a real SNES?
Yes it works on SNES as well :)
I was waiting for you to play it for the longest time.
I bought a led tv about 2 years ago and my nes has a delay between what I do on the control and what I see on the screen. What do I do?
I've heard that the RetroDuo Portable was released back in 2008. When was the RetroGen adapter released? I'm very curious about that! :/
How does the genesis adapter compensate for the 6 button control on certain games
Can I Use Beats Headphones For Retro Duo Portable Right
Was the buzzing the video signal since that is a an av port?
Are there any composite to HDMI converters you could recommend? I ordered one from aliexpress, but unfortunately it doesn't work as I'd like it to. It upscales the resolution to a widescreen format, thus distorting the picture - I'd prefer something that lets me keep the original 4:3 proportions.
Can you use a nes to Famicom adapter with the nes adapter?
One video and I instasubscribed! I love your up beat pace and humor.
