The Brooklyn Nets just got swept and while the Celtics were amazing and Jayson Tatum has become a true superstar - the only person Kevin Durant should blame is himself. This is a look at how KD wrecked his own career one horrible decision at a time.

The nets are literally the reunion of the betas who think they're alpha.
I mean how on earth you choose ego over trophies?
In GSW of course Steph was the face of the franchise but everyone on earth was agreed to say KD was the best player, Green accepted the fact to not shoot anymore,Klay was on board with taking a back sit, Steph was okay to give all final MVP's as long as you bring the ring.
Everyone praised Kyrie in Cleveland, the most important player after the best player in history post-Jordan, always to going to play the finals.

I said this when he left the Dubs in 2019; I predicted that the Nets would do and win nothing. And not even because of KD, but his choice of teammates. Kyrie's mind is not focused on ball, Harden is also an underperformer when it counts. Not sure what sane player would choose to team up with these two, well I guess KD found out the hard way. And Kyrie's body language in the last 3 games showed just how much he doesn't give a damn about the team's success. He literally put in no effort at all.

    • @TheGoldeagle99
      @TheGoldeagle99 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well let's be a little fair. The Nets at least in 2020, the year they traded for Harden could have won the chip that year. There were numerous circumstances that made this project so far a failure.
You're not totally wrong but it's not as if Durant's decisions as well as Nets front office was horrible.

I'm kinda dissapointed how fast people forgot his sleazy move to GS.
I think after winning those 2 rings he himself realised how easy and unsatisfying those victories were, so he decided to make his own franchise and prove Draymond and everybody else that he can win chips with him as a leader (cause he wasn't the leader on GS regardless of the MVP finals award), and of course that's never going to happen.

KD wanted a Bad News Bears situation in Brooklyn with a team that had talent but nobody feared "as far as winning a ring with the roster before KD and Kyrie" but could turn it around and win that ring thereby ending the talk that says KD wouldn't have rings without that Golden State team that was stacked before he got there and Kyrie without Lebron James. They could bring it together and then nobody would hate him or talk down to him about selling out because in Brooklyn he would have earned it on a team that couldn't win without him. That love everyone once showed him before he left OKC would return and may even get that storybook ending he had imagined in Golden State but had completely misjudged.

Super-teams have been the rule, not the exceptions, since the 1960s. Difference is owners can’t control players like they used to. What’s got you mad I guess is players have more say in their own destiny. I agree that it’s gonna be harder to build Big Threes because of the way the current salary structure works. Unless your best players are willing to take big salary cuts it’s really hard to pay more than two great players and still have enough left over to build a decent team around them.
But the idea that super-teams are new…I can’t even. 🙄🙄🙂

I donno how ppl can call someone a top 10 player of all time without them actually being a 2-way player...no matter how good u r on offense, if ur jus a mediocre defender u automatically can't b top 10. Thers been way too many legends who were elite on both ends to put an glass cannon ahead of them. Cuz like u just witnessed, offensive comes n goes, defense does not. It's an effort thing, it's u wanting it more than ur opponent.

Yeah, the "star empowerment" movement had it's moments and advantages, but if you take it too far, you start to see how great players don't usually translate into great coaches, GMs, or owners: Michael Jordan, great player, terrible owner. KD was stupid for leaving a dynasty he could've stayed and got a couple more rings (maybe), but Warriors misfortune, they turned it into opportunity and did what they usually do and made solid picks in the drafts that looks to be setting then up for not only putting pieces around Steph, Klay, and Dray, but also securing a future with Poole, Kuminga, Wiseman, and Moody along with Wiggins in his prime. Not all of these guys will stick around, but Curry doesn't dictate to Bob Meyers and Lacob who will be signed or traded. Curry trusts his organization to make the best move. Not all star players have that trust, but star players that go to teams beause they know they can flex their leverage often end up signing off on bad decisions made to coddle and please them. KD looks dumb af right now.

I think players should get a base salary, regardless of games played. Then there could be incentives for the number of games they play. So guys could still get something if they are unlucky and injured, and players that go the full 82 would be fully compensated.

@@chrismog286 Lets keep it real, he is not the best basketball player in the world at any point. I said it not because of blind hate or anything, but based on fact:
Basketball is a complex game sport. It requires many aspect to master it.
Being the best at 1 thing (scoring) doesn't makes you the best at basketball, it makes you the best at that 1 aspect. To be the best at basketball you need to master at least 2 of 3 aspect of the game: playmaking, offense, or defense. And must be great at that to justify your lack of the other 1 thing.
KD is the greatest scorer (offense), but without at least decent ability in playmaking or defense, his play is just too 1 dimensional. He cant be called the best at Basketball when we have Giannis who excell in Offense & Defense, or Steph who excell in shooting (offense) and off ball movement gravity spacing (kinda like playmaking for others without even touching the ball). And dont make me bring LeBron in this conversation.

Nets roster is similar to Lakers, they have 2 superstar - 1 aging superstar (KD) and 1 injury prone Kyrie and old former stars. All the decisions that was made about the Nets roster should be their GMs fault coz thats the GMs job.

People just except Lebron to make a 3peat but AD is always injured, thats not his fault he couldn’t know AD was going to be out of his prime at 29, the standard for Lebron are just so high that 1 ring isn’t good for him, the Boston Celtics of KG, Pierce, Allen, Rondo, Perks won 1 fucking ring and they are a legendary team, and they talk about that ring like they 3peated lol, so Lebron still won as a GM, not once, but twice, and you could even argue he made that HEAT superteam by talking to Wade and Bosh, so 9 Finals and 4 wins ? To be honest, Jason Kidd was not looked at very favourably the time Dallas signed him. The narrative was that Giannis had to ditch him to win a championship. He proved them wrong tho and that is something that is obviously amazing but in reality a team like Brooklyn, who were top 3 in terms of potential champions before the season started would definitely not take the risk. Nash was a new coach and his reputation at the time was neither amazing nor bad so it was a easy move with lower risk and higher rewards.
