The Houston Rockets have a big offseason ahead but a lot of what happens is out of their control. First they have to get lucky in the draft lottery to get a top-3 pick. Then they have to draft the next young star to pair with Jalen Green. There’s a lot more to do before the 2023 season starts and this is a look at Houston’s offseason plan.

@@Multiswagbeast kings are gonna be lottery pick contenders until they move out of that city and change owners. The gm is straight up trash, why would you keep drafting point guards when yin have an all star point guard. Makes no sense and messes up the bond with with your team. At one point fox didn’t feel like he was wanted by them. Fox wasn’t even trying this year and his numbers dipped because of the kings front office choices.

As a Filipino, Im proud Jalen finally started to figure out, my man taking bodies.. they need a playmaking PG, just to ease the pressure off KPJ, and Jalen, and another Solid Bigman.. and they'll be fine.. Chet would be a perfect fit 👍
So far, interesting takes on your opinions for the FA plans of the Lakers and Rockets. At least, I suggest to have this with other teams who missed playoffs who have a solid plan on how they approach the offseason.

Jabari Tari pairing is the modern "Twin pillars " of defense like the "Twin Towers" but they aren't 7 foot. They can slide and move defensively to shut down anyone. Now let's see how they space the floor with the Jabari Tari Lineup. Maybe they rotate center and Power forward with all these small ball lineups.

When will we get a Wizards offseason video? I think they have one of the most interesting offseasons in the league.
Chet is definitely the highest upside lowest floor type player, the average college centre is between 6’8-6’10 and most nearly as bulky as most nba centres, tbh I think he would fit better as a power forward rookie year like Evan Mobley did.
Chet will never be as good as Mobley unless he adds another 25 lbs minimum.

I look at him as a more skilled Myles Turner but nothing special. His weight, gait being hunchbacked all scare me. When I watched him vs Duke UCLA Texas Texas Tech Memphis Arkansas this year he rarely popped off the screen to me unlike the best moments of Jabari Smith Jr, Ivey, Paolo, or even Keegan Murray or Mathurin (Davis at PU great game also). Shaedon sharpe really intrigues me also with Calipari saying he has number 1 pick upside just like AD Wall Rose did for him also.
No slam dunk if they’re healthy future HOF type pick in this draft I don’t believe but we shall see. My Pacers are due for their first Top2 pick since 1988 (haven’t drafted higher then 10 since 1989 which is crazy as well!).
Houston needs jabari smith junior they need to trade up to get him he has the highest ceiling and his fit with them is great

i agree with picking Chet because they have attacking guards, you need a front court that can shoot outside to open up the lane he also has good defensive instinct.

There are still some horrible takes in this vid I doubt Chet’s 4+ blocks per game translate to the nba. Chet had one of the longest wingspans in college basketball but there are many nba players with a longer wingspan than Chet
Mobley is a lot bigger frame wise compared to Chet and it allows him Mobley to not only be extremely agile but also extremely effective when guarding bigger centers
If Chet reaches around 230 pounds while still maintaining his guard skills he could be one of the best centers in basketball
Trade or keep John Wall as an expiring contract and go all in on the 2023 free agent class. Definitely don't buy him out. The Rockets don't have their 2024 draft pick. So might as well start contending then, after the nab 2 hopefully star rookies in 2022 and 2023. But they probably should trade Eric Gordon though. He's got a lot of value in the league, and that value is diminishing every day. That being said, he's one of the few positive veteran presences on the Rockets. So I don't fault them for keeping him around. I don't hate the Tobias Harris trade though. That might work for the Rockets, since they'll get another big expiring contract. That's like $60-70M in cap space in 2023, which would entice players wanting to form a superteam in Houston. There are a lot of good players becoming unrestricted free agents that offseason. I also like the Knicks trade proposal for Cam Redish. I agree that he's got a lot more potential and underutilized and he's a perfect fit for the Rockets. Trading for Redish will basically be KPJ trade 2.0.
Great work Casey 👏. I love Chet’s game I think his game will translate great in the wide open floor of the NBA, as long as he has another big along side him to make up for his weight issues he’ll still be a elite rim protector and lane disruptor! Everybody says the NBA is soft then say things like Chet doesn’t have the frame pick a narrative I think he’s going to be good and don’t forget it’s not just defense in basketball the other team has to guard him as well can you say NIGHTMARE to guard especially in NBA sets.

As a Rockets fan I say we buyout John Wall, draft either Jabari Smith or Keegan Murray, and trade Christian Wood and Eric Gordon for a player like Myles Turner or some young prospect players.

I like the NY trade scenario but if they don't draft Chet, their center position will end up naked. I do like the idea of Reddish on the team, though and think he would be a perfect fit.

Houston receive: Al Horford + Aaron Nesmith + 2023 first round pick
Boston receive: Christian Wood + Eric Gordon
Dumb trade. Wood is our best player. Horford is passed his prime and is not the Celtic best player.
We ain't trading Wood. He's a mobile big man we need. You can have Sengun and give us Tatum.
As a rockets fan, I'd do that in a heart beat. Getting off Christian Wood and bringing in Al Horford to help mentor and teach Sengun would be incredible.

I disagree with the positional needs for the team and the tobias harris trade. As a rockets fan, I am very excited and impressed with what KJ Martin had to show. His per 36's are quite good, and trading for tobias harris would be bad for his development. I think getting Devonte Graham and Garrett Temple with a second round pick for Eric Gordon would provide more value as the rockets would get a consistent backup guard for them with Graham and Temple would be the veteran leader, Udonis Haslem-esque role with the team. The Pels get a solid shooter to put alongside CJ in the back court and can hold his own defensively. Those are just my two cents on this topic. Otherwise, great video!

Agreed - Rebuilding Houston needs to accumulate as many future draft capital as possible by trading Gordon and Wood. Then buying out Wall. Take on players on bad contracts for draft capital. Develop young players on Rio Grande Valley. Get lucky in lottery and draft. Develop.

The video makes some good points until it comes to Holmgren. Chet is Thabeet with a 3 point shot and a little more versatility. Thabeet's last year at UConn he averaged 13.6/10.8 4.2 bpg on 64% from the floor. In Chet's lone year at Gonzaga he averaged 14.1/9.9 3.7 bpg on 60.7% from the floor. Then he went #2 overall and became one of the biggest busts ever. I'm not suggesting Holmgren is going to bust, but out of everyone in the consensus top 5 he has the most risk attached. They should draft Jabari, who's a much better fit than Holmgren, and then either draft Wendell Moore with the Nets pick or use the Nets pick and next year's Bucks 1st rounder to move from 17 to 13/14 and draft Agbaji.

I'm a Rockets fan. Wood and Gordon need to be traded for a 1st round pick, and 2 second round picks plus expiring contracts. Wood and Gordon can join contenders along with either Tate, Nwaba or Martin. Draft either Chet or Jabari if they're available. TyTy Washington can be a good back PG with the Nets 17th pick. A buyout for Wall is the only realistic option. No extensions are needed this year. C'est fini!

If I'm the Rockets I would try really hard to trade for Jonathan Kuminga. Anyone is available besides Jalen Green & this year's first. If they can pair Green, Kuminga and Chet. In that event I would actually just start both John Wall and Eric Gordon for veteran presence next to them. Plus they both fit positionally. KPJ might be part of the trade, but if not, make an agreement with him that they'll give him his $51 max if he agrees to come off the bench so they don't have to buy out John Wall. I think thats fair for both parties.
