A grow bag company should sponsor you. You gave a great pitch 👏.
Lol thank you!
I lost count at 50!!! I grow in a roughly 189 square foot triangle packed densely with grow bags. Works amazingly well and encourages us small-space gardeners. And yes, save the soil, amend it! That's what I have done for three seasons. It works. Thanks for all the tips Asia!!
Lol I only know because I went back and looked at my Amazon history 🤣. Awesome, thanks for letting me know it works fine to save and amend. I was trying it either way lol. You’re welcome!
I use trays under my bags this help me to keep them from drying out! I'm a grow bag junkie as well!
I keep trying to figure out the best and cheapest way to do the same. Do you just buy the normal plastic trays used for pots? I love my grow bags! So much more can be grown in a small space using them.
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead I found some large plastic platter trays 3.00 at Walmart works great holds about 2 1/2 inches of water also some of those aluminum lasagna pans for smaller bags !
Ok thank you! I’ll have to go looking.
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomesteadhey, I used a cheap doggy pool from PetSmart and placed them in there. I just fill the bottom now and the bags soak them up quickly.
I REALLY ENJOY LISTENING TO YOU TALK. LIVELY, INFORMATIVE AND AN ADORABLE SMILE. YOU ARE VERY GOOD ON CAMERA, DON'T LOSE YOUR TRAIN OF THOUGHT (VERY OFTEN) AND A NATURAL FLOW OF DETAILS AND TIDBITS YOU ONLY GET IF THE SPEAKER IS A COMFORTABLE AND MOTIVATED CONVERSATIONALIST.
I POST MOST OF YOUR VIDEOS ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK, AND LINK THEM ON MY PAGE.
Thank you! And thank you for sharing my videos. I really do appreciate it!!
This is my 2nd year growing in grow bags, and I love them. I added dry; shredded leaves at the bottom to maintain moisture then filled with a mixture of mushroom compost; homemade compost and vermiculite.
You did it the smart and economical way! I totally should have done the same. Didn’t think about it until I was like 30 bags in 🤣. It took me a weeks to fill them.
I will NOT be emptying these grow bags😂🤣 hey Asia! Girl you're too funny. Anywho...I don't wash my grow bags...but I will rinse them with the water hose...that's about it. Thanks for sharing your take in grow bags. I grow in raised beds, containers, buckets, large totes, and grow bags.
Lol I’m not doing it Elwanda 🤣. It took so much time to fill them this year. O ok. Did you notice build up on them or do you do it to be proactive?
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead 😂 I only did the rinse with a couple of my grow bags because I had empty the soil into a raised bed. Not because of any diseases or O.C.D.😂
Mine are going to live in the snow and sub zero temperatures...lol..I'll just add some amendments in spring..hope for the best!
Same here lol!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead 🤣glad I'm not only one!
The boys and I had four grow bags left that we were not using 7 gallon ones and they says Dad you just cut the grass and there's a whole lot of dried grass in the yard and the rest is history and the squash plants are flourishing and you're right they're only going to get the nutrients that are in the grow bags and chicken manure in my area is abundant we're having lots of squash and peppers and zucchini
Smart little guys! Glad your crops are doing well. Grow bags are really awesome!
I love grow bags. I also purchased trays to catch the water as I have a balcony garden and didn’t want to risk damage to the deck floor. And yes they do dry quickly and I have to water daily right now.
O ok cool. I like seeing people grow on balconies. It’s really cool. Do you buy the trays that go under regular pots? I’d like to try this. I am also water everyday or two right now.
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead Hi! My 7 gal grow bags measured 13” in width so I purchased 14” saucers on Amazon. Honeydak - around $34 for 12. They’re a close fit but they work well.
Ok thank you very much!
Asia I love your confidence in this video. Thank you for sharing the things you do in your garden. I have a super small urban garden and you are such an inspiration. You are hilarious too. I loved this video!! Blessings to you.
Awww thank you! I feel like this is something I could definitely speak to about. Glad the channel is helpful and relatable for you! Happy growing!
Okay I had to leave another comment. LOVED THIS VIDEO! You're about to hear from Hollywood!! You are doing it great. Oh yes...I grow in bags too!.
Lol thank you! That would be awesome!
I absolutely love grow bags. I believe I got a 12 pack of 5 gallon size on Amazon for under $30. That was a little while back so they may be a little more but still a good value otherwise. Thank you for the helpful tips.
I believe mine were well under $30 for 12 as well. Great value for the return. You’re welcome!
I will not be emptying the grow bags either. I love them! I garden in the woods and grow bags allow me to put my sun loving crops in the bits of sunshine! Its awesome and they last!
Excellent info! Bags drying out, not watering like I should and needing to fertilizer more maybe, possibly, most likely is the issue with one of my bags! 😂 Thank you Asia!
I just ordered a bunch of grow bags lemme get my chair 💺 🍿🥤and get into the video ❣️
I freakin loved this video Asia❣️you are hilarious 😂 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed making it. I love grow bags! 🤣🤣
I've had my grow bags for over 5 years. Never washed them. I use them non stop for outdoor summer and indoor winter gardens. No rips or tears yet. Drying out is the only issue. To fix that I use thick mulch and ollas in the bigger bags to help water.
O cool! Good to hear cause I font either and I’m not sure I plan on it lol. Yep same issue I have. I should have mulched this year. Thank slacked a little bit. Thank you for comment and happy growing!
What's up SoilSista!! This is hilarious... I'm from Virginia a little City near Fort Lee 🙌🏾🤣 Amazing... We've never grew in grow bags but I'm going to drop some seed in one today. Thanks for sharing ❤️
What’s the name of the City? I’m right down the street from Ft. Lee!!!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead I told my sister in law you probably know my entire family! 🤣 Small world SoilSista ❣️
I love your channel! There are so many things we do alike. I have a small space as well and have 9 30 gallon grow bags. I have had them since last August and they did great in every season. You hit on all the pointers about grow bags that I have heard about and had the chance to experiment with. My plants have not had any disease issues versus in ground growing is something else I have noticed. And nope, I don't wash my bags either, lol. Keep up the good work Asia!
Thank you! Us small space growers definitely benefit in several ways using grow bags. Glad they’ve worked out for you. Where did you get the 30 gallon bags? Not that have anymore room 🤣🤣
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead I bought some from Amazon and some from a woman on Facebook market place who were only using them for yard work.
Excited to see some who has so many bags! Just bought 20 for 16 indeterminate tomatoes and ginger. Drip irrigation and mulch will be a MUST for me in Florida. Thanks for sharing
Awesome! I absolutely love growing in bags! Good luck with yours Ana happy growing!
Thanks for the Grow Bag info., I do use Grow Bags and that 'drying out' thing you talked about happened to me and my 3 sweet potato plants. Grow Bags dry out just like terra cotta pots do, I knew that but failed to water as deeply as I should have been. So I've lived and learned (hopefully I've learned) that attention has to be paid to watering the soil all the way to the bottom of the Grow Bag. I appreciate you sharing this info., have a good weekend. 🙂
You’re absolutely right! My first year growing in containers is where I lived and learned too lol. Happy growing!
I don't wash my bags no ma'am 🤣
Yall roun here with dirty bags??? I'm just kiddin...🤭🤣
Me either 🤣🤣
@Angela’s Canvas Delight 🤣🤣
THANK YOU ! THANK YOU! 👍👍😊
You’re welcome!!
I am putting my bags in those plastic kiddie pools, and putting some drainage holes about an inch from the bottom of the pool so excess water can drain out. It’s basically a self watering wicking garden. 🙂
O that’s a great idea! I don’t have the space for that but I’m sure it’s going to save you a lot of time with watering!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead Thank you and Yes it really does when you have other things to get done and don't have to water all the time. Also using 18-gallon storage totes for my potatoes, yams, and sweet potatoes. They work so well for them too. We have to use our resources and use what we have. Gardening should not be an expensive project but a fun learning one. :) I should also mention I live in an Apt and can't dig up the yard. So I used grow bags, storage totes, 5-gallon buckets, and every and anything I can find that is food-grade material that allows me to grow in. Also learning how to grow things vertically helps too! Also can't forget the herbs and flowers when you grow a garden. We need those pollinators and they also help keep some of the pests away from your food. Hope this helps someone who is reading this to think outside the box! :)
You can overwinter your pepper plants by bringing them inside when the cold sets in!
I tried that last year but didn’t pay enough attention. I may try a few again this year.
This is my first year growing in grow bags . I love them and I’m sure I will add more next year !
Aren’t they awesome?!?!?
:) I am loving your informative relaxed style. Superb production for a small space! This year my courgettes all seem to be flowering but not fruiting-I have seen a mouse-do you think something is eating them? 🤫😅 Yep I think so too... I really like this grow bag idea :)
Like someone mentioned here.I sit my bags in SOME water.when it rains just monitor the bags you don't want root rot from to much water. You can do the same with five gallon buckets just monitor the weather.Straight black Kow didn't work for me either( in the bag) . Hard as a brick.😆 when I first started gardening I did wash my bags. That got old QUICKLY so now they get a rinse through.
I need to figure out how to make the tray option work for me. I’m gonna do some research over the winter. Yeah I don’t know how others are making the Black Kow work in the bag. It was terrible in the bags 🤣🤣. O ok. I can be a bit lazy so I never even started 🤣
Hi I am in Cordele ,Ga we don't have bags I am going to Lowes .I am going to try them.
Luv your videos Asia. It’s like anticipating a visit from a really good friend!
Awwww thank you! Thank made me smile!
I am with you on the grow bags! I also am not emptying my bags either. I left them out last winter and will continue to do so. I just amend and top up with compost.
Good to know I’m not alone lol. I just can’t see myself filling the bags again. Thanks for the tip!
Awesome!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!
You’re welcome!!
I love my grow bags too
O yay!! They are an awesome way to give yourself more growing space!
Asia I bought six so far .. I love um and thanks for letting us know what you grow in them .. Asia you keep it real !!
Awesome. Glad you’re having success with them!
Great video!!! I was thinking that next year I will grow some pepper plants in grow bags. I'll be growing peppers in grow bags next year. 7 gallon bags. Got it written in my garden book.
Awesome! They work really well for peppers. Happy growing!
New subscriber here! Happy I found your channel : ) I LOVe your style… you are realistic and beautiful! Awesome garden hun.
Hi 👋🏾 welcome! Glad to have you here! Awww thank you so much. I appreciate that.
Hi Miss Asia, your bag soil mix is 3 parts soil, 3 parts compost, like black kow, and 1 part perlite. My question is this, what is your soil??? Do you buy it in a bag? Like potting mix? or what is it??? thank you for a great video.
Hi Debbie! I mixed Kellogg’s container mix bagged soil, Black Kow and perlite. I buy all of that from the store. Hopefully next year I’ll have enough homemade compost and I won’t have to. You’re welcome!
Thanks!
You’re welcome! Thank you for the support!
Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome!
I bought a bunch of Black Kow for the same reason, and I’m really not sure if that’s been worse for my garden than the heat. The soil is either rock hard or sludgy/doesn’t drain well. The plants are still growing, but it’s hard to maintain a healthy median.
O no! It seems to work fine when it’s mixed with other soil…for me. But just by itself in a bag was a terrible idea for me. I completely understand.
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead It works well for me too mixed with potting mix. It was just when I had like half of the mixture as Black Kow.
Mine are on their 2nd year. I honestly didn't know people cleaned them, I don't think I'm going to
How do you like them. Yes I learned last week that they did. I also didn’t know.
Great video
Thank you! And thanks for mentioning it on your live today. I’m sure I missed a good live conversation! I’m going to watch it though.
The grow bags work great and there cheap I use 5-7-10-25 gallons and the air pruning is great
I agree! Worth every penny for the return they give.
I'm a new subscriber to your channel, thanks for sharing your video.
Hi 👋🏾 welcome to the channel! You’re welcome!
Your garden looks good. What size grow bags do you use?
Thank you! The bags are 7 gallon bags.
Awesome video Sis keep on growing all you can any way you can🤝💯🌹🎉🎊🤩🥂 You got it going on Sis👍👍👍👍✌️
Thank you!! 🤗
Hi Asia, do you use the 10 gal grow bags or just 7 gal. Loving your videos ❤.
Hi! I only use 7 gallon bags. O thank you! I’m happy to hear that!
I haven't tried bags yet. Want to do potatoes next year though.
O ok. I grew all of my potatoes in 7 gallon bags this year. I had a really nice harvest this year!
I wash all my grow bags in rainwater that fills my wash tub when it rains...
Ok cool. Do you dump your soil and every year?
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS INFORMATION!!!! And no ma’am!!!! I don’t wash my grow bags 😉🥬🥒🫑🍏🍅
You’re welcome!
Hi it is Anthony from South Africa Western Cape like your video what size do you use
Hi Anthony 👋🏾. I use 7 gallon bags.
How are you irrigating them? Do you hand water them with a hose?
Yes I water by hand either with the watering can or hose. Depends on the day and how I feel lol.
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead wow, a lot of work! Now I’m even more impressed
❤️❤️
❤️
I don't wash my bags either. It's my second season.
what size bags are you using for the peppers and tomatoes?
I’m using 7 gallon bags
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead thank you
👍🏽❤️😃
What size bags.are you using ?
These are 7 gallons.
Thank you !
@@tiffanymartinez4482 great question 🤔 o ordered 10 gal 7, and 3 just because I'm unsure how tall they are😬 maybe I should return the 3 gal... idk I haven't received them yet
@@angelascanvasdelight1444 Maybe you could put your herbs in it.
@@delphine88313 oh great idea❣️ thank you
