    I love watching your videos because you must be in a warmer zone than me so you’re a little bit ahead of me. I also love that your whole backyard is your Homestead because I’m getting there as well. Thanks for another great video! Love it! Your berries look amazing! I need to get some coworkers like yours! I’m the only garden lover where I work. Also appreciate your honesty about your neglected seedlings because same lol

      Hi Alyssa! Thank you! I’m in Virginia zone 7B. It gets warm here pretty quickly when spring comes around. If I could use the other side of the yard I’d be gardening over there too 🤣. My kids and dog wouldn’t be happy about that though. O nice! You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! It is nice to have other gardeners at work. We trade things all season. I gave him some starts and seeds too. You’re welcome! I like to be as transparent as possible. Hey it happens lol. Happy growing!!

    If you planted hard neck garlic it produces a scape which would be the flower which should be cut off so the bulb grows bigger. Do enjoy your videos.

    If you have hard neck garlic, it will grow a scape and then flower then seed (bulbis). Soft neck don't grow flowers. Either soft neck or hard neck cloves can be planted for future garlic.

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure which variety they are 😩🤣. I purchased them from the grocery store. I’m just gonna leave them and see what happens. Thank you for the info and comment…I appreciate it!

    • @MsCarletta
      @MsCarletta ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead The grocery store normally sells soft neck. There tends to be more cloves on the soft neck. When you pull the cloves apart, hard neck will have a hard stem in the middle. Soft neck does not. With either soft or hard neck, the lower leaves will start turning brown when they are ready to harvest. I hope this helps.

    Loved seeing the muscadine vine. Years ago my wife ate some and planted the seeds. Now they run about 30 feet along my garden fence. They are so easy to grow & care for. My only bad year was when I pruned them like regular grape vines. Now I just trim them a little in the winter.

    I had to cover my blueberries early. They were eating the unripe fruit. I lost a whole bushel. Your garden is looking good Asia! I made the mistake of putting two borage plants in a grow bag with a tomato plant. They sap all the nutrients from the soil and my Roma never really took off. Thank goodness I have 5 more. I fully intended to only leave one, but then they got too big to move. Lesson definitely learned. I love how you maximize your space! You have so much planted. Wishing you an abundant harvest.

    Hi Asia. Garden looks wonderful. About the garlic. Those new leaves is not them going to seed. I think it's them growing additional bulbs attached to the original bulb. Im in 7B also (NC), and mine are doing the same thing. I planted in late fall, & they sprouted immediately. No significant cold spell. They haven't stopped. I already harvested some that were ready. You can see the new bulbs sprouting if you pull one. Still have a bunch that are not ready. I'm excited. Excited for you too. Love your channel.

    I've grown garlic for years, and have never seen little leaves like that on them. The flower stems will come up from the middle and are thick. They are called scapes. Cut those off and use them like green onions. Two weeks later when the bottom 2 tiers of leaves are brown, you can pull your garlic and cure it. Are you sure the thin leaves are not weeds? Or maybe an unusual variety??

    Looking good! I just planted out my peppers today here in South Carolina. I would've liked to wait until mid next week because we have a few cool evenings coming up but they are way too huge for the containers they are in and I am NOT interested in potting up again. So, I wish them well!😂 Is it possible that you left a bulb of garlic in the ground last year? I left two in the ground last year and they've split into cloves and are growing massive greens, you should see these plants! I've never really seen them "go to seed" unless it's from that scape on hard neck garlic. 🤷‍♀

      Thank you! Lol I totally understand! I’ll cross my fingers for yours and mine! I don’t believe so. They are planted in a new bed. O wow! That’s awesome. I’m happy you are having a good garlic season. I’m seeing what looks like scapes but they aren’t curled. I purchased them from the grocery store so I’m not sure if they are hard or soft neck. I’m going leave them until June or July and just see what happens lol. Thanks for the comment!

    Good afternoon. Your garden is looking well. Two questions: Have you tried overwintering onions? If so, how was it? Additionally, for your weave, are you also weaving indeterminates? Blessings to you.

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead

      Hello! I have tried it. The onions in the small vego garden bed and in the bed beside it are overwintered. I plan to use the Florida weave on all of my tomatoes this years both determinate and indeterminate. Blessings to you as well!

    Found you and going back through your videos, how do you water everything, I am trying to find a different method other than hand watering?

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead

      I hand water in the summer and use a sprinkler in fall, winter and early spring.

      Hey! Yes I can. I use the bucket to catch the water and I move it to black trash cans. I’ll talk about it in an upcoming video! Thanks for the idea!

    Some of the lower leaves on my potatoes are turning yellow. Any ideas ?

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      How long have they been planted? Yellow leaves could be lack of nitrogen, overwatering or under watering. Also as the potatoes are coming ready for harvest the leaves will start to die and may turn yellow first. It could be a few things.
