    Hope you guys enjoy the samples. Yes, Tennessee whiskey and bourbon are essentially the same thing. It’s a bit more of we are different, we’re a unique thing but it’s variances are minor. It has more of a bite. The rye and that charcoal filtering tome anyway make it stick out more to me.

    I quite like this whiskey (yes, it’s really bourbon), but the Barrel Proof version of this is even better. I’d love to try their rye release (especially the Single Barrel Barrel Proof offering), but its hard to come by where I am. Great review as always, Moa!

      Interesting to hear your thoughts! I never realised they even had a rye until I saw it on the website whilst researching this one ☺️

    Jack Single Barrel is essentially a bourbon and tastes like bourbon, it’s under the same Brown Forman umbrella as Woodford. The Single Barrel Barrel Proof is the best Jack Daniel’s offering IMO. If you like high ABV it’s a must have. May be difficult to attain in Scotland. Thanks for your review, I love hearing non-American viewpoints on American whiskey.

    I’m in the states, in Indiana, so when Jack Daniels did a limited release of their Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye I was able to get one luckily. It turned out to be one of my favorite whiskeys ive ever tasted! I don’t think it was an international release but if you’re ever able to get one you should! Maybe I can send ya a sample of mine if you wanted!

    Hey again ! I'm not a big fan of american whisky, but the single barrel jack daniels did surprise me quiet a lot. I did enjoy it a lot.
    Otherwise a question for our swedish whisky girl : What do you think about adding to your review videos a score at the end, just like Ralfy does? I personally find it quiet interesting and informative since it allows us, viewers, to perceive more clearly outstanding whiskies from the others.

      Lovely to hear your experience of it! Nice when something in a category that that you don't tend to enjoy, can be a positive surprise.
      I have definitely considered it and I know a lot of people would like to see me score whiskies, but I think it is very difficult for me to be consistent with scoring whiskies since it can depend on things like what mood I'm in, and when I can't compare them all side by side, and I reserve my scoring for when I do it for whisky competitions since that is an easier task of judging a whisky blindly in a lineup when you are only focusing on things like complexity - some of the whiskies I score highly on that scale are not necessarily the ones I enjoy the most personally as I might enjoy a stronger character in a whisky, something that could be considered less balanced in those scoring systems. I hope this makes at least a little sense - but I'm always happy to answer questions if anyone is curious to learn how much I enjoy a whisky, if there's anything I don't enjoy particularly much about it or if I prefer it over another one or not ☺️
      Thank you for the question and I hope you are having a lovely day!

    Tip: looking into the the camera lense instead of at yourself on the screen allows "eye" contact and just overall makes a good video, better.

    Actually pretty nice stuff from my experience, although "Single Barrel" is pretty nonsensical marketing gibberish.
    I promise you, Bourbon & Tennessee Whisky are indistinguishable in the glass, and in apples to apples comparisons, there are scant differences between these whiskies, primarily due to those strict regulations you mentioned. No doubt this will drive patriotic American whiskey fans near apoplectic, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it 🇺🇲

    • @swedishwhiskygirl
      @swedishwhiskygirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was guessing they would be pretty similar because from experience I don’t think the charcoal filtration changes that much of the texture - would still be interesting to try it next to something where the mash bill has a lower content of corn to see how much that affects it instead ☺️

      @@swedishwhiskygirl Try to find a bottle of Weller's, but they can be a bit pricey for what they are. Still not much difference overall IMO, and certainly not worth getting all riled up over the way certain American bourbon fans do.
      I might have made this comparison before, but it's kind of like getting argumentative over which is the best Speyside blend-filler; that's not to say that blend-fillers from Speyside can't be tasty, most of them are, there just isn't that much difference to lose sleep over the way I see it.

      I’m guessing it’s probably why I’ve naturally found myself more intrigued by American single malts instead of bourbons - as the cask influence and mash bill can have a different and wider variety to affect flavour. Looking forwards to trying Wellers at some point though ☺️

      @@swedishwhiskygirl My experience with American Single Malt (ASM? 🤔) is limited with mixed results at best. You remember my thoughts about Westland 😱
      That being said, yes, they've got me curious, but they are very hard to sort through, and even though I'm in America (I think it's still America? 😷), I consider the category madly-overpriced.

      @@swedishwhiskygirl Another, much more economical option would be Old Forrester 100-proof Straight Rye. I'm not sure if its availability or price in Scotland, but it's about $22 in NYC, and has an unusual nashville of 65% rye, 20% malt, and 15% corn. Personally I think it's one of the better straight whiskies being made today✌️

    Jack Daniel's technically is a bourbon, or at least meets all the requirements to be one. The only real difference is the "Lincoln County Process," which is the charcoal filtration used. And, of course, marketing.
    That being said, I'd be very curious to see a bourbon comparison video. Personally, while I enjoy bourbons, I've never really found many distinguishing notes amongst them. As you said, I feel like it's much easier to distinguish among Scotches. I generally find more complexity there as well.

    • @WhiskyLock
      @WhiskyLock 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right that JD is a bourbon. The Lincoln County Process thing is more complicated though. Lots of non Tennessee whiskeys also do it. However the only Tennessee Whisky distillery that's actually in Lincoln County (Prichard's) DOESN'T do it. I feel that the Tennessee Whisky distilleries that were pushing for a different classification were clutching at straws to justify the change in law... it's a beautiful and pointless mess...

    • @swedishwhiskygirl
      @swedishwhiskygirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Everyone wants to stand out in the crowd I guess 😅
      Does the charcoal filtration mean it’s not allowed to be called a bourbon or is it just that they choose not to? ☺️

    • @joejanca
      @joejanca 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@swedishwhiskygirl I believe they just choose not to label it as such. From my understanding, it IS technically a bourbon.

    single barrel is the bomb. jack no 7 is not great i love everything else they do and i'm really trying to be a kentucky bourbon snob but i keep reaching for single barrel select. and technically all jack daniel's are bourbons but they want to be known as tennessee whiskey.
