I have this case and can say that a regular cooler can work as well with that extra space. Also, I recommend doing 2 intake on the bottom and flip the 2 top fans for exhaust and have them on a fan controller.
If necessary Dawid I would exhaust the rear most fan by the CPU/Motherboard area. It actually helps a lot with the heat produced. Nice clean build and I want that case for a future build.
You can improve cooling a lot in the NR200 with a bottom-to-top airflow (maybe some slim fans pulling air in under the RX5700). You can also side-mount a fan to blow towards the CPU top-down cooler, or try the Noctua C14-S - they work great in this case with the mesh panel.

I just recently did a bit of scavenging myself. I got computer parts laying around from upgrading other people's computers and upgrading my own. My home theater PC was using a i5 2400 and a R7 250 graphics card. So I scrapped a bunch of parts together and made a system with a FX 8120 and a powercolor R9 380x 4 GB. The motherboard has toslink out built-in, which works great with my home theater receiver, at least until I decide to move to dolby atmos then I'm going to have to use the display port out.
I just built my first MITX SFF PC in the Cougar QBX case. I was lucky to find it from Newegg for ~50$ before they were gone again. Keep doing SFF content Dawid, it is so fun! My plan was to have a slightly portable gaming rig that I could stuff my 3 fan 2080 into occasionally.
I'm not going to lie, I was kind of hoping this was an ultra-low-budget scrap parts build of older but still solid parts (like, that i5 2500 you have in the opening credits), but this was still a great video. Thanks man!
Nice build. You might want to try the NH-U12S as it still fits nicely and will vent out the back and you can then vent the top fans out the top for better case thermals. Just a suggestion.
I've got an NR200 as well, for fan setup, I did have to add 2 120mm Noctua fans on the bottom as intake. My airflow setup is bottom up now. Amazing improvement, highly suggested.
I built myself a pc at the start of 2021. My mate helped me pick all the parts and it was hard. I had no clue what I was doing. 😂 We’d find a part, then it would go out of stock or something similar so we had to pick another part. It was a nightmare but we got it done. Spent a lot more than I wanted to though.
niice i recently went with a similar build, love seeing the nr200 start being used, mine is white nr200p, 32gb ram, 3700x, sf600, and placeholder 1050ti
lmao tightening a noctua cooler dropped temps considerably. can relate to that. stopped screwing in my NH-D15 when I heard the springs creak because I thought I was overtightening it. didnt know Noctua designed the screws to stop so you cant overtighten. I was getting 93C in AIDA64. Retightened the screws completely and then got 80C max in AIDA64.
I have the tempered glass version of the NR200P , you can fit a Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB ( not the plus version) CPU Cooler, it should perform much better than the low profile Noctua that you have. I can close the side panel just barely, you should consider that cooler to keep the noise down.
You should try putting the side fan bracket as intakes for the top down cooler and the top two as exhaust, I seen posts that ppl are getting better temps with it.
While you were going over the parts. I use a Noctua L9a to tame a 3400G. Has no problem with it. As a microATX lover, you owe it to yourself to try a build in the NR400. I keep getting tempted by that case, but still haven't actually bought one yet. Also Corsair's SF supplies are solid. I should replace my ailing Seasonic Focus Plus Gold with my SF750.
I think the top fans as intake are a mistake. You should put one on the bottom and intake, and one on top as exhaust. Or just both as exhaust on the top. They will pull fresh air in through the side panel.
Did you leave the top fans pushing air down? I would think all fans out pulling air (mostly) from the bottom would be best for that situation. Hot air out the bottom means it will cause a loop of already heated air going back in the top.
If old school rules still apply, negative airflow works better but gets more dust, positive airflow like that will stay clean but your basically using the Video card as an exhaust fan and that will kill the card some what faster then normal.
Top intake no no no you need to install intake fans to the bottom or to the side. The top fans are ment to be the exhaust in that case. And as we know heat rises anyways. I have an 9700k in that case and im using 2 side intake fans and 2 top exhaust fans and it works nicely.

The NR200P is big, I've managed to fit a 4090 in there. For cpu cooling, tower coolers are much better. You set it up to intake from the back, and then the top fans blow all that heat out the top. A 5900x was easy to cool with this setup.
Great video as always. :) It's always nice to get something useful out of those prebuilds. About that CPU cooler though... I got exact same cooler (AM4 variant NH-l9a) on my R5 3600 and temps are around 65-75C in games. It can't handle any overclocking tho, like not even little bit. :P I hope Anna is happy with her new build.
Hey it seems I finally found someone with the same CPU+Cooler Setup :D How are your temperatures in idle/under normal "office" load? I am asking because when gaming, my temps are around 80° and even go up to 92° at max which isn't great imo :|
@@chriss7005 Hey :) My idle temps were with 55-60C range with a proper case with a good airflow. Check if your PC is getting enough cool air by opening the case. If the temps are still hot, then it's not an airflow issue. You can always try to re-apply the paste and check if the cooler has proper contact (enough pressure). I did replace my cooler with a better one because I wasn't happy with the noise it was making in full speed (also I couldn't overclock).
You should do anothe cpu temp test after reversing the case fans to push air out instead of pulling air into the case, to see if that helps lower cpu temp.
Dawid, have you tried doing a push-pull configuration on the top fans? Making the front fan intake and the rear fan exhaust might improve thermals, especially since that fan's so close to the CPU cooler.
Are you sure that you didnt make a mistake with the thermal paste or with the assembly of the cooler? I build a system with a 10400f with an old Zalman CNPS 9900 Max (i know it´s a lot larger) and got under 100% utilization temps in the low 50´s with the lowest Fan speed. I would imagine the Nocuta should get around 60-65 with 100% utilization and around 50-60 under gaming load.
The "Heat" is not in the case long enough to "rise". Sound weird but it's true. You want to blow air in (with minimal filters) verse sucking air out. This eliminates hot spots/pockets. You will be able to run your fans at lower RPM as well as prevent dust from creeping up in through every unobstructed crevice. Positive pressure FTW
Heat rises, the top fans should draw air from the bottom over all components and blow UP-!! Might've helped your struggling thermals, you can do better on the cpu cooler too. Just my opinion. Nice case and a great result either way.
Thermaltake core v1 is a better case, it's a bit bigger but you can fit a bigger cpu cooler and it's got a 200mm intake fan on the front and plenty of room for exhaust fans.
everything is this pleases my OCD SOOOO much. im just choosing to ignore that red pcb, if i tell my brain its not there then it is perfect! totemo kawaii desu
Funny how a week back I just built in that exact case with some pre-built parts from a lenovo PC I took apart! Too bad that my cable management in that thing is completely attrocious in comparison.. But I will say that was my first time in an mini ITX case and using a full sized GPU as well. Maybe it partially didn't help that all the front panel connecters were on the right side of the motherboard I used, which didn't help since that was a tiny fit at that point.
you should try stuffing a 240 aio in that little guy loli think amazon has a sale on those new arctic ones that are supposedly super nice. i think barely 100? i think with these little cases exhausting the hot air is better than intaking fresher air and hoping the heat gets pushed out. i did it with my silverstone itx case where all the ventilation is my intake and the intake is the exhaust it seems to function better overall. it intakes a lot more dust but you can really feel the cool air just being intaked around the whole case. they seem to like more negative pressure i guess. i guess it makes sense though overall because you want that side panel intaking

I think since the gpu videos dawids viewers begin to rise wowwww congratss dawidd
you should try stuffing a 240 aio in that little guy loli think amazon has a sale on those new arctic ones that are supposedly super nice. i think barely 100? i think with these little cases exhausting the hot air is better than intaking fresher air and hoping the heat gets pushed out. i did it with my silverstone itx case where all the ventilation is my intake and the intake is the exhaust it seems to function better overall. it intakes a lot more dust but you can really feel the cool air just being intaked around the whole case. they seem to like more negative pressure i guess. i guess it makes sense though overall because you want that side panel intaking
great video dawid. keep up the great work.
