    its amazing this is a known problem for carplay and mazda refuses to fix it on a recall. I have a 2022 cx5 that does the ghost touch. changes station, deletes presets, places phone calls is so annoying.

      That’s crazy even the new cars!!

      @@jerrydoesitall I don't know if its specific to Mazda models but it is a known issue that exist over several years and should be something Mazda is responsible for fixing. If i get a 2024 model and the same thing happens that's not even acceptable. it ruins the entire driving experience when your settings are being changed, disabled, contacts are being called, channels are deleted and added, screen is dimmed and the list goes on.

      I have the ghost touch too it’s so annoying and today it got worst! I have a 2019 CX-5, I rebooted it hopefully it won’t do this again. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

      @@Enila21 I went to dealer to trade mine in and was talking to one of the sales guys he acted like he didnt know what i was talking about. I asked if the issue had been fixed on the new 2023 and 2024 models but he couldnt tell me. When it starts to happen it ruins the entire driving experience. Mine would call people from my phone book, change car system setting in addition to add delete and change my radio channel and dim my screen display.

    Just bought a used 2020 CX5 with 30k miles. I love the way it handles and the interior, but when I got it, it had no Apple Car Play! So, in my case it was the opposite; I had to reset the factory settings and connect via Lightning Cable to get it to pop up. But within 2 days of driving it, the Ghost Touch on the radio became apparent, not to mention I just learned today that the microphone don’t work! So I can see why the person likely sold it and got a RAV 4 instead. Whereas I’m just coming over from RAV4 to a CX5 lol. Anyway, I got a service appointment for Monday (covered under the 3yr/36k factory warranty) to figure it out.

    I’m wondering, does Apple car play work with the knobs since touch no longer works?

    My 2014 CX-5 Infotainment Screen doesn't go off even when the Engine is Switched Off until i remove the Battery Head. Any solutions?

    Just to add some context, I think the CarPlay was just bad timing for you. I fully disassembled my unit and what causes the ghosting is that the sealant in the screen give off a grease when the heat gets to it. On mine I took the whole thing apart and cleaned it just because I had it already apart and that fixed the issue, but your fix is just fine since nobody ever uses the touchscreen in these.

      That’s awesome! Mine is completely messed up because I added car play and now my radio doesn’t stay on for 2 mins 😅

      @@MsNitraA1 I think I messed it up when I added Apple car play and it didn’t have it originally, installed it myself

      @@jerrydoesitall I asked because I had CarPlay professionally installed at the dealership on yesterday however, I’m still having some issues with ghost touch. The replacement screen is around $700 and I wasn’t planning to spend that much much replacing the screen. If I could use the ribbon trick to disable the touchscreen, I feel it would be fine, but I’m concerned about issues down the road. 😩 Just wanted to check in with you to see what that big difference was from when you first made the modifications until now.

      @@MsNitraA1 well if I was you I would disconnect it not cut it like I did, but then you would have to know how to wire it

  • @OnlyDinero

    So are you able to disconnect and reconnect the ribbon if you cut around properly? Or is the only option to cut it?

    • @jerrydoesitall
      @jerrydoesitall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if you use a dremel tool and do a clean cut Ribbon should be fine.

      the display can be taken off of the cage it is mounted to to get perfect access to the ribbon. there are 4 silver screws. 2 to the bottom front face and 2 adjacent 90 degrees. then the display comes off. in the back rear of the display plastic housing there's 2 small silver screws. remove them and gently pry away the display backing. now u have full access to disconnect the ribbon. good luck

      I did it the way Jason advised. It’s easier and works like a charm.

      He lacked a tool to get further into the system so he just snipped the ribbon

      It's just the touch screen that is causing the "ghost touch." Apple Car Play does not cause the ghost touch!

      @waltw918 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TimDyb Mazda should do a recall on the touch screen. This is common issue spanning several years. I live in Southern California gets triple digits here in summer. Sounds like these screens get damaged from the high heat maybe. Anyone in cooler climates have the issue?
