    This display kit is only available at your local Mazda dealer. If you're going to attempt this repair, make sure you check the part number of your display. Number ending in "611 J0 or 611 J0A". I don't know how much they cost because it depends on where you live and your local dealer. You could always take it apart and disconnect the display harness "printed circuit ribon" and go without touch screen.

      Thanks for the video, question i know you can use this kit to replace the screen or you can even just remove the ribbon tab to turn off the touch screen, however im pretty sure on my 2020 CX5 in the settings i believe i can choose to turn off the touch screen if this is true will this work? Instead of having to remove the unit?

      @@a.c.k.propertyservicesllc5561 I don't think I've seen that feature. I am going to look now when I get a chance. It makes sense that if you could turn it off then it would be fixed. You can only try. I'll have to look into this.

    Thanks for posting this DIY repair. I had no idea this kit was even available. After watching your video I ordered the kit and installed it. Problem fixed and it was an easy repair just like you showed. Thanks again!

    Mazda should be ashamed. I have 2 CX-5s and a Miata. All suffer from ghost touch. Mazda has a TSB, but they take no responsibility for these defective screens. The service manager had the gall to tell me that like cell phones, these screens shouldn't be expected to last more than 3 years. Appalling! I would be happy to join a class action lawsuit over this. This must affect millions of cars!

      Some vehicles had a warranty extension on this issue. But, like most Mazda warranty extensions. They don't extend the warranty very much.

    Thanks for this video watching this and digitizer alone replacement made me get full touch screen like you did. On 2017+ digitizer is too glued on and takes Lotta work. It's a $30 Part but lots of time removing and cleaning when $30 more you can get entire panel like in video. Ebay $75. It was nice to see key combo and code for screen test! Only video to show that!

    Thank you for your video, I just replaced mine in my 2017 CX-5 and the new screen looks and works great.

    Forget the repair kit, you do not need touch screen. Open the multimedia unit from the back and unplug the ribbon cable to the touch screen. Put back together and never have the issue again. Mine has been fine for years now. This issue happens from using chemicals to clean the screen which create shadows in the glass which emulate 'touch' when light hits the s GG reen

      If I remove that ribbon to disconnect the touch feature does the screen still work for viewing? Sounds like that ribbon is only for the ability to touch?

    • @ShopForemanGarage
      @ShopForemanGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it will. The screen will still display but, the touch part won't work. If you do this, it will set a code B108E:04 for display system internal failures. Of course if you have the ghost touch issue it probably already had a code set. This code will not turn on the check engine light.

      You can’t update the software if you just disable the touch.

      I'm sorry where is the ribbon cable to touch screen?

  • @TimDyb
    @TimDyb 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    13:40 On the ribbon cables, there is a WHITE lateral line that will align with a WHITE line at each of the connectors on the electronics PC board. Line them up and it will be correct.

      Honestly, when I made this video I did not think that people would be using it as a "how to" video. If I did. I would have spent a little more time showing how the thing goes together.

    why is the new screen flickering with the diagonal refresh rate? used a different type of camera, originally it didnt have that

    • @ShopForemanGarage
      @ShopForemanGarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The shutter speed of my camera did not match the frequency of the screen. If I had turned the camera off and then on again, it probably would not have flickered like that.

    Hi Sr:
    i just did the screen test using the code 70 as you showed and got that the display is fine. It's changing in different color patterns like in the video. Nevertheless, I've got the same Ghost Touch issue after starting the car, when stopped in the traffic light, etc. The Ghost Touch is really annoying. If the display is good, i don't understand what I'm missing.

    • @ShopForemanGarage
      @ShopForemanGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is the display. It can be an intermittent issue. There are two parts. Changing on its own, or not changing when you touch it. You could try using the code and driving the vehicle without touching the display and seeing if it changes color on its own. Either way. If it is acting on its own then it has the ghost touch.

      This is only available at your Mazda dealer. You need to check the part number to make sure the kit actually fits your display.

    Mazda should recall this and take the charge on it not the customer I hate my display it sucks

    • @ShopForemanGarage
      @ShopForemanGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You should go to your dealer and have them run a VIS on your vehicle. Some vehicles have a warranty extension that will cover it.

      @@ShopForemanGarage This is more than a simple warranty issue. It is downright dangerous for the infotainment system to randomly freak out while you are driving. It happens in my 2017 Mazda 6 during the summer months. It is very distracting and it will make phone calls to random people on my contacts list. This is a safety issue that necessitates a proper recall.

    What I would like to know is do the new ones have the same problem? And have to replace it again?

    • @ShopForemanGarage
      @ShopForemanGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The answer is no. I can not find reason behind it anymore. It had something to do with contamination when the display was built or something like that. This is only for the 6th gen Mazdas. The 7th gen (or new ones) do not have this issue.

      @@ShopForemanGarage Thanks. I have to put one in my daughters 2018 CX5. Your instructions are simple to follow and I will be getting an OEM screen.

      All Mazdas with the connect system do.
