When I first started listening to Bach, I thought "how is it possible a human being can play this?". My next thought was "how is it possible a human being could write this?". And now, after all these years, I'm back to my first question.

You memorise it as you practice, there's no secret actually.
Truth is that it's only natural to memorise a piece after spending dozens of hours practicing said-piece, as a matter of fact, it would take a stupid brain not to have it memorised after practicing it for so long.

      GIDON KREMER :
Woher kommt deise Krankheit? ..."

But now I think for 3.5 minutes of Bach this is just perfect, all single notes giving us everything, I am struck by the humor Bach shows with his inversions and upside down tricks. I grew up with, Szeryng and then Perlman my favorites. I have to say she is on their level at least. This is how Bach is to be played, with passion and drive and of course intonation. Every note is paid attention to. I have noticed my favorite violinists are the ones that play Bach well, it makes their performance of everything else so great. I love her Sibelius and of course everything else. Her pure intonation in Bach makes it so vital and alive, just terrific of my favorite Corrente and the great double here. All single notes Bach does everything, bass, inner voices, soprano, turns them upside down and inside out while following the harmony of the Corrente. I just marvel at this movement and it is played here like Bach himself.

I have been watching and listening to Hilary Hahn for some time now, as she has grown physically and musically, and I feel she is really something very special. Her fluidity of expression, phrasing, assured intonation, and apparent effortlessness when playing, is remarkable, and something to behold. She has become my favourite interpreter of the Bach Partitas / Sonatas for solo violin. But when I hear her play the Brahms or Sibelius violin concertos, and others, I feel she is just as brilliant when interpreting classical and romantic music. I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that Ms Hahn may well be this era's female Jascha Heifetz. And no...I am not kidding. Thank you Hilary for sharing your great gift (and hard work!) with us lesser mortals !

She’s my favourite living violinist and certainly one of the very, very best musicians of all time. I subbed a week with the Atlanta Symphony when she played Prokofiev 1. Rehearsal, dress rehearsal and three performances with encores and not a note out of place or out of character. She might be the greatest dancer ever to play the violin. She understands that instrumental performance is storytelling through music; it is ballet for the fingers. Watching Hilary one can see every phrase of the music that these digital dancers perform somewhere in her body. From her eyebrows to the floor it’s all there and every movement is elegant and beautiful. ❤

It's never too late!

Bach & Hilary Hahn & Sex sells & Playboy: www.pinterest.de/AriaView/hilary-hahn-violinist/ LA STAMPA Spettacoli E Playboy sceglie
      la bellezza "classica"
Soprani e violiniste sul sito della rivista
      ALBERTO MATTIOLI
      TORINO
