It’s not panic time. It’s my completely uninformed and untrained opinion that Ukraine are pulling back for breathing room and to meet up with incoming military gear so less gets picked off as it is brought to the front.

Could the crash be a result of poor maintenance, cannibalizing parts because new parts unavailable? I sort of remember you sharing a review of degradation of air fleet since the war...... So that would mean more random failures.
To lose the crew from an engine failure during flight phase is a contradiction of the fail safe design philosophy. Therefore the incident was “Whoops my bad” or “Take that”.

Su-34 great news (even if engine faliure!) Russian airframes are piling on the 'airmiles' hopefully getting well past airworthyness.

I disagree, Mr JP re the SU-34 loss. The Russians will blame it on a careless smoker.
The Ukrainian lines are breaking. NOBODY engages in a strategic withdrawal in the uncoordinated manner that you have shown.
Vehicles would have been organised and it would have been done in darkness.
They were not withdrawing they were fleeing. Those guys would have known that it was crazy to move in daylight. So they had to be in a position that they had no choice.
Yesterday a Ru Su-34 crashed and both pilots died. The Ru MOD claimed 'engine failure'. Another very obvious lie from the MOD!! With engine failure, pilots easily have time to parachute out and survive!!
They have had two years to dig communications trenches so as retreat would be possible. This us the cist of not doing so. Not easy but the cists if not are worse.
