Hi Jonathan, thanks for the updates! So many countries that keep stepping up, amazing!
I loved the speech from Macron as well. His words are well thought through, since he knows all to well it will be viewed all over the world.
    1. Does Ukraine really need long range missiles to attack reserves and starting points of attacks on Ukrainian soil?
    2. We deliver missiles to Ukraine to attack troops A on location X, where X is inside Ukraine AND to attack troops B, without specified location.
Not sure if the logic condition ATTACK (A if X) AND B is a result of translation from French to English. Maybe if we break down the words in French the logic might be ATTACK ((A and B) if X), but I cannot imagine.
We keep seein similar debates over and over again, while Ukraine keeps paying the price: should we deliver main battle tanks? should we deliver rockets (and for what range)? should we deliver fighter jets? In my opinion this discussion fits right in. We again try to prevent escalation to not allow Western weapons attack on Russian soil.
Macron knows very well this is a hot topic, so if he would agree with deescalting, he would have chosen his words much more explicitly.
I bet a bottle of my best wine Macron does not mind if Ukraine would use Western weapons to attack on Russian soil and would not complain if Ukraine usesFrench weapons to do so.
But we probably argue for a few more months while Russia threatens to stop further escalation, throwing in the n-word left and right, while we finally come to a decision how harmful for Ukraine it is not to allow attacks on Russian soil. And just as in previous cases it will not start a nuclear war, but in mean time many Ukraine lives are lost.
Sorry for another rant. I know we do help Ukraine a lot, but it gets frustrating to know we could and should do and have done, much more to help. Our support often is too little, too late and Ukraine is paying the price. And ultimately we will pay for it as well at a much bigger cost we currently spend.
    Cheers, Rick

Donald Trump allowed Macron to emerge as a dominant force in EU. The suspension of US aid to Ukraine was directed against the German EU bloc. Which bloc did not support EU militarization nor the US-led isolation of China. Macron was a lone voice in calling for EU militarization apart from NATO. Trump supplied the key block on Germany which allowed Macron to break into the open field.

Although I fully emphasize with ordinary Georgians taking to the streets to oppose the democratic backslide this law would represent, there is little that can be done from the outside (apart from vocally condemning the law) that would not be labelled interference in internal Georgian affairs.
I find it revealing how many politicians (from any country) have forgotten that they are supposed to work for the benefit of the population as a whole and not the select few.

Solar panels: Great idea, especially if the excess energy is fed back into the Ukrainian grid. Where I come from in Australia, 60% of energy generated by solar PV's is not used by households without a battery and is sent to the grid. Currently, Chinese companies have overproduced panels and there cost is at an all-time low. However, to make a difference, batteries need to be added along with a decent inverter. This is where Germany and Sweden could really help, by ramping up production of batteries and inverters and sending them to Ukraine. Decentralised power is impossible for the Russians to neutralise and will be core to Ukraine's idea of rebuilding using green technology.

The Russian elite's exploitation and pilfering of its own outer-lying regions without offering any returns, has been the rule for centuries.
It is rather obvious that many Russian republics believe they would fare much better without being choked and held back by the Kremlin.
So, here we see a stark illustration of what is happening in many of Russia's impoverished regions :
On the one hand, people who believe independence will lead to a better future, join opposition forces either domestically or on the Ukrainian side.
On the other, people opting to try getting ahead within the existing system, selling their services to the Russian army in hope of escaping abject poverty.
Russian internal tensions and divisions brought to the surface by an external war.
IMHO dissolution of the RF is a preferable outcome to this war to many of the alternatives.

hi Jonathan, thanks for this video, I like to watch your videos when I have time. regarding solar panels for Ukraine, I am an electrician myself and I often have discussions with people about solar panels. Don't get me wrong, I am not against solar panels, in fact I have them myself, but solar panels will never be an alternative to power stations, they can only take away part of the power station capacity. the problem is twofold, on the one hand is the problem of availability of the sun, which is unreliable and unpredictable. and even if you generate enough energy with solar panels, you have the problem that you cannot store the energy. our current technology regarding batteries is actually not well developed enough, and large batteries are very expensive and fire hazard. So I believe that the solar panels cannot provide much help for Ukraine, no matter how sorry I think it is. good enough from me, happy sunday, slava Ukraine

Hello Jp thank you again. My thoughts on today's episode:
    1) I like and hate your solar panel idea. Yes it is great idea however you need to put this into a larger context. As you noted buy a pile of them at a cheap price. My question for you is where is going to get these cheap solar panels? As far as I know, this would be Xinjiang (East Turkmenistan). So as much as I like the idea I can't support it. You don't stop genocide by supporting another genocide.
    2) Marcon needs to back up his actions with words. Ambiguity is effective in only as much as it actually is a deterrence.
    3) Yes, it is important to bring out the colonial nature of the ruzzian federation. I appreciate the information on Yakutia. I feel that since ruzzia is a land base colonial power more and more of this type of information needs to come out as a counter balance to the appeal to the global south.
    4) Sure Greece has been involved since day 1 in nefarious business with ruzzia. There is no way it couldn't have been. It is a form of tacit support for the war. Cyrpes and Greece are very corrupted due to oil money.
    5) ruzzia seizing assets, my guess only, is this is real estate only. This is would be unsurprising and in terms of real money would amount ot very little. I don't take this to be collaborative work or exploration of the situation. We are not talking about the Austrian rumpstelskin bank here.
    6) Use that software and see how many times Julien Roepke comes up. Likely many many times.
    7) Georgia getting really messy now.
    Keep up the solid work.

I remember back to just after the Nordstream gas pipelines blew up, Russia started to burn off gas produced by wells up north close to the Norwegian (and Finnish) border.
That is actually less expensive in the short term than capping the well.
With the loss of much of Europe as customers, the difficulties in obtaining and servicing new customers (at prices well below hose set in the market), the embargo on much needed Western technology to maintain their operations, no wonder Gazprom is in trouble.
Putin's energy gambit against Europe has thus far been an epic fail and is biting his behind big time.
With Ukraine now impacting Russia's oil refining capacity, the imposed price cap on both cruse and refined petroleum products (although somewhat failing, the cap is nevertheless increasing the economic cost for Russia), I believe Russia is approaching an economic impasse where they can no longer uphold sufficient funding for public services and sustain waging the war in Ukraine.
The question is what will give first.
An indication has come in the form of failing to address natural disasters by providing sufficient relief funds, crumbling and poorly maintained infrastructure, especially in outer-lying regions and increased internal control and suppression of dissent.
Too bad those who are currently paying the price is Ukraine as well as ordinary Russians.

Solar panels can contribute to solving Ukraine's energy problem but they require a huge investment in relation to the returns. Ukraine is a leading producer of grain and vegetable oil. Burn that to produce heat and electricity. Germans do it. Ukrainians could too, particularly if there are problems exporting it. "Use the problem" (Michael Caine). "Not many people know that".

After a somewhat lukewarm start, Germany has stepped up to become one of Ukraine's most dependable large scale suppliers of military hardware and munitions.
At the same time, the country is trying to revive its own mothball-ridden military.
The scaling up of Germany's military-industrial base should also be seen in this context - as one of the building blocs and pillars of the future Bundeswehr and an integral part of the German economy, as well as a corner stone in the European effort to concentrate and solidify a pan-European military-industrial axis within NATO ready to be its own primary supplier going forward.

Decentralised power is a very good idea however roof top solar is not a good idea
Simple reason is they are easy spotted by drones and that building will then be targeted because the russians will know it is the exact targets they like to strike , schools & hospitals and if they are desperate for targets a possible military installation but as we know cowards prefer to target the in-firmed , defenceless children or defenceless civilians .
SO solar panels need to be installed remote to the building that the power is going to say as an awning along street fronts
Again ( been mentioned before ) the Archimedes wind turbines would be the bees knees where enough wind is available feeding into a flow cell battery that can be buried or installed in deep basements as they can not explode like Lithium bombs ( pretending to be batteries ) do and can be drawn down to dead flat without any problems plus they have an infinite service life.
An Archimedes turbine big enough to power a house is only 1.5 metres in diameter so a very hard to hit target , and of course they are already made in the EU .
Could even do a deal where Ukraine 3D prints the blades while the Dutch provide the generator behind it.
You could install dozens in a day because they just require a pole to be concreted into the ground .
Larger vertical axis wind turbines could be installed around the dams & power stations they were bombed so what they generate can be fed into what remains of the grid

I think one should distinguish between a nation's outward governmental stance and what specific entities within that country opt to engage in.
Of course, the main problem here is the lack of control those nations are willing to exert given the influence and contributions those entities have on their government.

@@ATPGeo well, there is $10 billion in new FMF, $14 billion in new USAI, and $8 billion in new PDA, so that’s $32 billion in new money, on top of the $10 billion of remaining PDA/USAI authority from previous bills that is also getting spent this year, so that’s $42 billion for military aid for Ukraine + whatever benefits Ukraine receives from an expanded US industrial base + ramped up training/maintenance/logistical efforts from EUCOM. That’s a lot of support for the war.

The one good thing that may come of Russia seizing Western assets, is that it may help to legitimize an outright seizure of the frozen Russian assets in the West.

Hey JP, completely unrelated but I've been struggling with what I consider pretty idiotic Americans I have been getting into a spat with lately. They accuse me of being rude. My gripe is them spreading misinformation. This seems to come down to a fundamental difference in cultural beliefs. So I wanted to get your opinion on this. In my view Americans "always want to be nice". Europeans on the other hand are more direct and do not like people telling lies. So I have been calling out some pretty blatant lies that they know are lies. I then get accused of wanting to start an argument. So lets say an American tells a blatant lie. Ok they want all people to be nice. So lets say they tell a lie, they expect all american onlookers to praise their wisdom even if it is completely wrong because doing the opposite would be considered rude. I can understand that logic. If everyone just praises everyone they think the world would be a better place. But would it be? See to me someone lying is worse than me being rude. I wanted to get your opinion on this. The only reason I resort to "being rude in their eyes" is because I am calling out a lie. But they might actually believe their lies... The problem is if everyone is never allowed to "be rude" and is expected to praise whatever other people do then surely we would go backwards and not progress in wisdom. Debating online is just really hard. I am having a hard time with the cultural differences Americans and Europeans seem to have and I hate being called rude just for "trying to help bring out the truth". You then start questioning if the American way is the right way. Like the saying goes ignorance is bliss. So is it better to be ignorant and polite all the time or is it better to further wisdom at the expense of politeness?

I don't think Americans always want to be "nice". I think many are "in your face", and Trump and his MAGA followers segment are extremely rude. Trump doesn't't have a day without calling the people he does not like rude names. The culture condones such rudeness.

Where did the "rumblings" about Pisorius being unhappy with the man who took him from political obscurity and brought him into the limelight and sat him on a pedestal, come from? The Bild Zeitung? Germans often say that one shouldn't bite the hand that feeds one.
