I'd appreciate a video that's a deep dive into tuning. I watched the vid JP did a while back on Gas vs. Mass Regulation, and it's great. But let's also toss in spring weight. Personally both my rifles a large frame and small have the full tuning options, the SCS with springs, a VMOS carrier, some extra weights, and an adjustable gas block. I can and am of course experimenting but it'd be great to get some tips and maybe things I haven't thought of.

I put the captured spring in my Colt M-4, did nothing else, and it ran fine. We've had our centerless ground precision buffer springs (JPS-OSR, JPS-OSC, JPS-OSR.308, & JPS-OSC.308) for a very long time. There is a huge difference between the Silent Captured Spring system and any traditional style buffer & spring setup that I have ever tried.
do the weights have a moving part? because the standard AR15 buffers have an internal reciprocating weight to aid in reducing bold bounce by producing a "dead blow" effect. If these are just solid metal weights they can't provide a dead blow effect.
Yes, the weights do have some room for travel on the slide and are interspaced by rubber o-rings. So, the deadblow effect is significant, especially with tungsten weights.
how much will this help to reduce recoil on an ar-10 with a gas block , 20" stainless barrel, with a standard muzzle brake? i was thinking a better buffer spring and muzzle brake or compensator should reduce recoil significantly. advice??
On an overgassed 6.5 creedmoor platform without an adjustable gas block, is it better to start adding tungsten weights or switching to a stiffer recoil spring first?
Any suggestions on which one Id need for :Gibbz side charging 7.62x39 AR, Superlative Arms Piston kit, 16" KAK barrel with 5/32 mid gas. RRA Lar 47 lower.

Are the JP-15 and GMR-15 using the same length SCSs...or in other words...would it be possible to use a GMR-15 upper on a JP-15 lower after exchanging the .223 SCS for a 9mm one without a lot of hassle?
Please check the Silent Captured Spring System Selection Guide that is available on the buffer springs page of our website JPRIFLES.COM. For a 300 Blackout, you will want to run the JPSCS2-15.
Just purchased the ar-15 kit but I am running an A5 tube. If I wanted to trim the rifle length spacer to the a5 size what is the necessary length for the spacer of A5 use?
So, I recently built an ar-10 with a jp silent capture buffer spring. Seems to work fine as far as I can tell, other than the "silent" part. Operating the bolt causes the rifle to ring like a bell, a very noticeable, unique, and ultimately odd sound. Much louder than my other rifles which do not have this part and don't experience this ringing. I just want to check if this is something anyone else has experienced? Is there some error I'm missing? I appreciate any help.
Im running a 6.5 creedmoor 24in barrel with ajustable gas block. What should my setup be. I currently have the stainless steel. The carrier slides back but not enough to eject the spent round. Im thinking its the spring more than the weights
Im running a Springfield Saint Victor 10 in 308 with a rugged suppressor. What setup should I go with to get rid of a double feed issue? And I cant changed the gas block without drilling it out.
Any chance of a design that would allow all the reciprocating movement in just the upper in conjunction with the bolt where the buffer tube area is not needed?
The BCG Is the full length of the upper reciever... So without some serious Frankinsmithing [not recommended], there would be nowhere for it to go when cycling without the tube. There are other AR-ish systems with side-folding stocks that do what you're asking, but their BCG/spring system is propriatary and not interchangeable.
I bought my first ar15. I have a 16” barrel factory stock ar with no adjustable gas block and I would like a silent buffer. Which one would you recommend? I do not shoot suppressed.
The kit version of the Silent Captured spring system will have the alternate spring options. The kit version does not contain alternate ring weights, they can be purchased separately as needed.
I have a Aero build I did it has a Krieger m110 barrel and JP matching bolt. The JP bolt it sitting in a Aero bolt nickel boron carrier. I also have a adjustable gas block. I’m experiencing short stroking I had to cut 5 coils off the Brownell’s AR10 buffer spring just to get the rifle to cycle. But I still won’t lock back after last round fired. Will this help my situation.
The cost is $139.99; this is not a lot of money when the item works as advertised. Trigger Tech trigger cost $200 + depending on the model with pricing for AR Diamond at $260; I have three plus one Elftmann triggers costing $235.00.
You mentioned you had two AR-10’s in 6.5CM. Why have different weight buffers in each,? What barrel lengths are they,? And are you running lightweight BCG’s,? If so which ones are you running,?
Patriot armament that is what I was wondering. Why the light weight buffer??🫤 he was saying something like a 3 ounce weight but I’m shooting a regular 308 rifle spring and the buff weight is 10ounces in my 6.5 CM. I’m sorta confused. Maybe the JP guys will see this and answer your question..
@@BPeterson730 yeah buddy. I'm a bitch about weight, lol. I like the idea of everything as light as possible. BCG, buffer weight, barrel, everything. Well I was able to get my rifle running it ended up needing a ArmaLite rifle length gas tube. Apparently the ArmaLite rifle length gas tubes are about 1/8th longer then your DPMS standard rifle length gas tubes. However I have just recently purchased the JP AR10 adjustable BCG and the SCS. So my question now is since I have tungsten weights on the BCG & SCS. Am I going to need to remove weight from the BCG and or the SCS ????? What do you suggest I start with for a factory S&W MP10, 16" barrel? Feels like the factory setup is over gassed as the buffer may as well not even be there by how hard it kicks. Also what accessories should I purchase to help fine tune?
@@JPRifles thank you for the reply. One thing I think would be good to cover in a video would be when to try different springs vs when to change weights. I've never tried tuning a buffer before so knowing which item (weights vs springs) to swap based on how the gun is running would be great.
I just got an H2 for brand new PWS 300 BO 9 inch and not working, I need to tune as it is mostly single shots with failure to feed and sometimes failure to eject. I tried multiple ammo both 120gr and 200gr. I also tried MFT, Pmags and metal mags. I haven't played with adjustable gas block but it is open. This upper works fine with 2 other lowers (spikes with an H2 and LWRC with H1). With my last 300BO it was the same until i changed to an H2 buffer. Suggestions? Or should I call?
Not sure I follow. Are you asking which Silent Captured Spring would be best for that type of rifle? If so, the JPSCS2-10H2 is probably what you'll want.
I have a colt m4 carbine with an h buffer. I bought your standard 3 stainless weighted system. Is that the one you would recommend for my gun or do I need to add a tungsten weight in place of 1 ss weight?
One tungsten weight would give you about the same buffering mass as an H buffer, but if it shoots reliably in its current all-steel configuration, there's no need to change it.

I love JP !!! I hate the back round NOISE !!!
Thank you gentlemen
do the weights have a moving part? because the standard AR15 buffers have an internal reciprocating weight to aid in reducing bold bounce by producing a "dead blow" effect. If these are just solid metal weights they can't provide a dead blow effect.
Yes, the weights do have some room for travel on the slide and are interspaced by rubber o-rings. So, the deadblow effect is significant, especially with tungsten weights.
how much will this help to reduce recoil on an ar-10 with a gas block , 20" stainless barrel, with a standard muzzle brake? i was thinking a better buffer spring and muzzle brake or compensator should reduce recoil significantly. advice??
which one does a person need for full auto ar15?
looking for a SCS for a 458 socom that would work with a Law Tactical folding stock. What Can of SCS and buffer tube do I need to buy?
the length of the barrel on the 458 socom is 12 inches. Not adjustable gas port.
Sounds great, show me how it works.
Where does the rod go?
Back onto the buffer tube?
Quit talking like an ad.
Show me. Please.
7curiogeo It takes the place of the traditional buffer and spring.
The rod goes into the compartment of a magpul grip.....use a rubber mallet if you have issues with fitting.
@@cleetismcdougall5425 hahaha if that doesn't work, use the ol body man's trick torch and hammer...heat and beat baby!
On an overgassed 6.5 creedmoor platform without an adjustable gas block, is it better to start adding tungsten weights or switching to a stiffer recoil spring first?
Add buffer mass.
Any suggestions on which one Id need for :Gibbz side charging 7.62x39 AR, Superlative Arms Piston kit, 16" KAK barrel with 5/32 mid gas.
RRA Lar 47 lower.
Best guess would be the JPSCS2-15H2.
@@JPRifles Does running H2 buffer help with recoil mitigation? I have adjustable gas block with carbine but it's still sharp recoil with superlative arms piston kit. Hoping to mitigate the recoil.
Talking about it is one thing… Shooting it to prove the sound and showing test is better
So, I like the features. How do I know what I need? If this tunes your AR, it should be essential explaining what you need based off different configs.
We do have a flow chart on our site that can explain that can give you more details based off different configurations.

Reinventing the wheel... I prefer my Super42.
@N Webb The super42 is based off tech older than the entire AR platform...
Are the JP-15 and GMR-15 using the same length SCSs...or in other words...would it be possible to use a GMR-15 upper on a JP-15 lower after exchanging the .223 SCS for a 9mm one without a lot of hassle?
Please email Service@jprifles.com or call us.
@@JPRifles thanks for the quick reply. I sent the email.
Do you make one for an 300 blackout ar pistol .if so witch one
Do you have an adjustable gas block, and if so, have you tuned the gas?
@@JPRifles The gas block is a non-adjustable .750 low pro. Nothing too fancy on that end.
Would it be possible to use this in a carbine length buffer tube with a rifle length gas tube?
Im running a 6.5 creedmoor 24in barrel with ajustable gas block. What should my setup be. I currently have the stainless steel. The carrier slides back but not enough to eject the spent round. Im thinking its the spring more than the weights
Have you tried tuning your gas block since adding the SCS? Sounds like it needs more gas.
@@JPRifles gas block is fully open.
What spring DD M4A1 RIII mid gas suppressed?
Very informative - thank you!
Im running a Springfield Saint Victor 10 in 308 with a rugged suppressor. What setup should I go with to get rid of a double feed issue? And I cant changed the gas block without drilling it out.
I really hate the sproing. I'm really thinking of one of these....
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST??
I bought my first ar15. I have a 16” barrel factory stock ar with no adjustable gas block and I would like a silent buffer. Which one would you recommend? I do not shoot suppressed.
What weight and spring would be best for my Daniel defense 14.5” 556 gun I have a 8.2oz bcg in it.
With the variable mass buffer spring does it come with all the different springs and weights needed to tune it to how we want it to run?
The kit version of the Silent Captured spring system will have the alternate spring options. The kit version does not contain alternate ring weights, they can be purchased separately as needed.
standard carbine buffer tube ar 15 lower, 7 .62 x 39 upper. what basic change in buffer and spring would you start with?
Sprinco Blue and H2.
What about using a coated flat wire spring? It would make it even quieter and it would reduce the vibration even more.
Open your eyes. Spring doesn't touch buffer tube.
@MadGraph Calm down Karen and pay attention. No one said anything about touching the buffer tube.
Then tune the gas block just enough to cycle the gun. I'm just a practical use guy. You never know if the shtf suddenly and you gotta carry that rifle up a mountain along with a shit ton of gear. But that's just me.
I'm going to mount a Bear Creek 450 Bush master upper to my Ruger SR .556.What can I do to make the recoil more manageable and still be safe ?
We would recommend the JPSCS2-15H2.
What do you recommend for a 10.5inch 5.56 AR Pistol?
Did you get one?
Well I was able to get my rifle running it ended up needing a ArmaLite rifle length gas tube. Apparently the ArmaLite rifle length gas tubes are about 1/8th longer then your DPMS standard rifle length gas tubes. However I have just recently purchased the JP AR10 adjustable BCG and the SCS. So my question now is since I have tungsten weights on the BCG & SCS. Am I going to need to remove weight from the BCG and or the SCS ????? Maybe you guys over at JP can respond to my comment now since I have a band worth of your products in my rifle.
Please email this question to Service@jprifles.com. Make sure to include the exact model numbers for the bolt carrier and Silent Captured Spring system.
Embrace the sprong!
What would be a good one for a AR pistol 11.5 length set up??
Probably the H2 version.
What do you suggest I start with for a factory S&W MP10, 16" barrel? Feels like the factory setup is over gassed as the buffer may as well not even be there by how hard it kicks. Also what accessories should I purchase to help fine tune?
I'd start with our JPSCS2-10. You can always move into the tungsten weights if you feel the need for more mass regulation.
@@JPRifles thank you for the reply. One thing I think would be good to cover in a video would be when to try different springs vs when to change weights. I've never tried tuning a buffer before so knowing which item (weights vs springs) to swap based on how the gun is running would be great.
I finally saved the $ ordering today.
is this system as good or better than the Geiselle Super 42 braided spring?
I just got an H2 for brand new PWS 300 BO 9 inch and not working, I need to tune as it is mostly single shots with failure to feed and sometimes failure to eject. I tried multiple ammo both 120gr and 200gr. I also tried MFT, Pmags and metal mags. I haven't played with adjustable gas block but it is open. This upper works fine with 2 other lowers (spikes with an H2 and LWRC with H1). With my last 300BO it was the same until i changed to an H2 buffer. Suggestions? Or should I call?

Will this work with a law folder?
We have specific versions to work with the Law Tactical Folding Stock Adapters. They are listed on our website.
What's the regular basic weight for the AR10 for a short barrel pistol carbine ... Thank you
Not sure I follow.
Thanks for the review. I have question, which I have AR folding stock adapter, is it possible to use both at the same time?
We offer versions of the Silent Captured Spring systems that are specifically designed to be used with the LAW Tactical Folding Stock Adapter.
