Wily had the most ironic of victories.
In fact when you think about, Wily had nothing to do with Zero in the end. Before you flame me, let me explain...
When Zero was first found by Sigma he was wild feral robot, When defeated and taken to Dr. Cain he became the Zero we know, Some time before the Zero series, Zero donated his body to science, Zero's AI was taken out of his original body, Think about like this, Zero's mind is modified program that was taken out of original body, Zero's original body that was stolen had a factory restart resulting in Omega who quite possibly be Zero's original programming now being groomed by Dr. Weil into the robot Wily intended Zero to be, Zero is now split from his evil side and there for no longer one of Wily's numbers but now a copy of his former self.
In short, Zero didn't just destroy his old self, He developed his own identity and destroyed Wily's legacy to walk his own path.
Zero basically gave his creator the finger and started his own Legacy, Why do you think Model Z is based off that version of him while Model O isn't?
You know I was going to but in and be confused, but it kinda makes sense, and that last part with Ox makes good sense, nice job

This would be a really good argument if it wasn't made clear in Zero 3 that his mind (or quite literally, "heart") is the same as before, just put into a new body. Nothing about him was modified unless there's a piece of lore I'm unaware of
In short, omega awoken Zeros og programing in that body making it technically a fight against awoken Zero/himself
@oniyami8916 yes omega used the original zero's physical abilities, which were designed by Wily, so Wily had a big hand in that fight
I know Zero 3 was supposed to be the true last game but can we admire the sheer badassery that is is going all out with a bang while crashing down into the earth? a final stand like a true hero......

That's a weird standard. Not many games only plan on 3, but then make a 4th. There are alot of good 4th games out there, but that weird 'only 3 games but has a 4th' rules out almost all of them. How many games even fit that criteria?

Everything about this boss fight, the tension, the music, was extremely well executed. This series could not have ended in a better way than this. This is one of my absolute favorite Mega Man themes of all time, and is probably my favorite in the entire Zero series. What a masterpiece.
God i agree with this so much. Z4 May not be my favorite in the Zero line of games, I have to agree the finale was handled perfectly.

Genuinely one of my favorite final bosses of all time.

@@lian3397 Well, it's still an interesting comparison. Weil wants to rule the world, much like Wily, and he's willing to use evil machines to do so, much like Wily as well. In a sense... Dr. Weil is a future Dr. Wily, but even more evil.

Well, same voice actor for the villain ^_~ And same scenario pretty much.
Just one of the two aged poorly while the other one aged great because pixel graphics don't age that badly...
I always like to imagine if the final fight between Zero and Weil was animated it would end with Zero floating in the air with a feint red aura, (Similar to Awakened Zero, to complement the fact that he technically went Maverick when he killed Weil) and then using Genmu Zero to end Weil's life. And then Zero screams in pain as he falls to his demise, but he raises his arm, giving a thumbs up (Like how he did in X4 and X5) while slowly saying, "Mission...Accomplished..." and then his arm breaks off and the camera zooms out as he perishes.
