There's a very insane attention to detail in the Mega Man Zero series. A historian once said that society collapses every 250-300 years with example being World W@rs, Thirty Years W@r and the Black Plague. When does the Elf W@r takes place? Yes! 250-300 years later than the world w@rs. So the Elf w@rs was yet another Society Collapse event in human history.
Ceil watching Ragnarok burn up and promising Zero that she will see to a peace. Gods I went throu the Zero games again recently AND STILL cry at this point.
The second phase of Dr Weil is peak final boss design. Everything about him looks so nightmarish from the horn with red eyes to the huge cables swerving underneath. You can even see the highlight of his face behind the yellow core. He really wasn’t kidding when he said that he was the devil.
@@francotamayo94 I like to think that he is, as it's very simbolic that in the ending of the series Zero does the very thing that no robot previously did, break the laws of robotic and kill a human, it's also an analogy with how a machine can be more human than an actual human.
What I really like most about this fight is the tragic irony tracing back to Dr. Wily. As we learned in Mega Man 11, he originally created the Double Gear system so that robots could be heroes and be their own individuals instead of just tools for humanity. In his final days, he never anticipated that his final creation, his tool of destruction and way of finally out doing Dr. Light, would end up being the hero he longed for. His creation's sacrifice paved the way for peace between humanity and machinery. "One day, Light! One day the world will know... I was right all along!"
Fun fact: Capcom has a habit of making villains named after Albert Einstein (WWII reference, with the twice bombing of Japan): Wesker and Wily While making a real life douchebag like Thomas Edison be the basis of an all around good guy scientist in Rockman. Which probably explains that whole Wily drama with Light. But then again, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Also something some people miss is Zero's last act of heroism is going maverick as defined back in X1 he intends to harm/kill a human even if it is for the good of others by the original definition he's still going Maverick
Zero would actually be invoking the 0th Law of Robotics, "A Robot may not harm humanity, or by inaction allow humanity to come to harm", the 0th law makes it so that under specific cercumstances a Robot is allowed to harm an individual, and you can make the argument that Wile is no longer human considering the obvious machinery underneath his body, and the fact that he effectively says that he is an A.I before the Phase 1 fight, in which case the 0th law would not need to be invoked. - And this is assuming Wily even programmed Zero with the Laws of Robotics in mind, as there is a very real chance that both X and Zero are actually capable of not following the laws of Robotics of their own free will or are simply not programmed with them, the last two Robot Masters being the only ones that aren't bound by the Laws of Robotics is an interesting thought however.
Actually, the original definition of going maverick is to rebel against an authority. He went maverick in Z1, and was a hero for standing up against tyrannical authority. His final act was slaying the last human ruler of Neo Arcadia, Rejecting the authority of the world government, completely. He blazed his own trail, saving people through rebellion.
To add what @TheFearsomeRat said asimov's laws are canon to the megaman universe, so even thou "going maverick" is a good read of the situation, zero just ended using the 0 law of robotics.
@@ulisesavila2879 if the three laws are canon, so are all of Asimov's discussed work arounds. There was any number, the easiest being four little words. "For your own good".
How I finished MMZ4 in Hard Mode with an S Rank years ago in my GBA is still one feat that I still find hard to replicate years later. That Zero Knuckle infused Axe Droid really helped.
@PrimeShiem Here's the kicker: I only learned I could hold on to Weil's horn after I finished it in S Rank. That meant I came to the point I could spare a hit before finishing the game.
I absolutely love this fight - the famous quote at the beginning of the fight, by Zero, being my introduction to any other MegaMan series beyond Classic and X, and to this day, I still consider this the peak of the series' storytelling. The whole self-sacrifice part of the battle was always sad, but I think it carries a feeling of... peace as well. Once Weil was gone, Earth probably would become a peaceful place where he honestly would've served no purpose. In fact, I wholeheartedly believe he might've asked to be put to rest for good, because that would mark the end of the cycle of conflict that had plagued the Earth for generations - no X, no Zero, no Weil; just humanity and reploids walking hand in hand towards a brand new future, where the strength of ancient "heroes" will hopefully be never needed again. Then ZX happened, but let's conveniently ignore that for now.
Yea, this woulda made a pretty carthadic ending for the Mega Man timeline. As you already mentioned, with the absence of X, Zero, and Axl, it would have truly made a fitting end to the story.
LOL 😂🤣 The BS don’t end with ZX, don’t forget after ZX is Legends. Something happened to humanity and now they’re extinct with a bunch of carbons taking up the planet and there’s a bunch of doomsday devices set all over the planet to bring back the original humanity!
@@lordmonarch2995 Yeah, but that's something completely different. It's another story, with a new generation of characters, entirely separate from the overarching X series' plotline (I consider X-Zero-ZX(A) to be a continuous story that was terminated forcefully at Advent). In fact, if you told me that after Zero comes Legends without anything that came in between, I definitely wouldn't mind. ZX and its consequences will forever ruin the perfect Zero 4 finale for me lmao
As much as I like Omega Zero's fight context-wise. I honestly prefer this fight the more I think about it. An intense final battle for a reason, as it really really impacts you emotionally pre-fight and post-fight. A top tier finale!
Hi, I'm Shinichi Itakura from Japan. I am the composer of the song you mentioned. Thank you so much !! To be exact... Shinichi Katakuri ↓ Shinichi Itakura It is my name. Thank you !!
Hello! Your welcome, I absolutely love Falling Down, always have since I was little. Thank you so much for your contributions to the Zero 4 ost, and the comment!
I just realized something - Weil foils himself. Not only do all of his attacks give openings for Zero, but if Weil hadn't stuck around to fight Zero again in the first place as Ragnarok was falling, he probably would have won. He probably would have achieved the same if he had fused with Ragnarok and just focused on protecting himself. But that egotistical megalomaniac just _had_ to try killing Zero himself one last time. Evil is far too often foiled not by good, but its own stupidity and/or hubris.
I think with Weill, he stayed because he had nothing left. The arcadians wouldve turned on him as they were taken from Neo A, all his enforcers were gone, and the civilians were being taken to the resistance base. If Weill left hed have no resources nor men to mount a come back. And the surviving resistance members AND Zero wouldve hunted him down like a dog.
Another thing as well. The whole "unable to be teleported because of the critical speed" thing was established back on Zero 2, during the 2nd mid-stage on the Enemy Missile Carrier. Zero had to make an alternative escape because of it.
This final boss fight is the peak of megaman as a whole, everything is so perfectly aligned, I really cannot describe how perfect it is without writing an entire bible, I just love it so much, and I would lie if I said I didn't cry like never with that ending.
First time I ever cried at the end of video game. And when I played Megaman Zero collection I cried again hearing - conpletely caught off guard that of all things they changed ONE SPECIFIC THING about presentation. Someone at capcom knew. 10/10
this fight mirrors X4 so much While he failed to save Iris in X4, now he was able save Ciel along with rest of the world "Ragnarok" has similar meaning to the "Final Weapon" Ragnarok means "The ultimate destruction of the gods" which hints at the plot that Zero who created to be the "god of destruction", and that he would face his final fate here.
Dr. Weil's 2nd phase is hands down my favorite boss fight out of the Zero series and one of my favorite Mega Man Bosses of all time (End Game Bosses only). The theme itself doesn't sound as awesome as Supreme Ruler does to me, but Falling Down has the emotion going for it because this is Zero's ultimate sacrifice as well as his final fight. It has the right atmosphere, sound, music, emotion, and not to mention, the most sadistic Mega Man villian to Date and if Capcom ever makes a ZX3 or Legends 3, then they're gonna have to come up with someone worse then Weil. Also, nice artwork:]
It Has To Be This Way from MG Rising goes well with this fight too. If you can sync the drop that happens around 50 seconds into the song to when Warning comes up on the screen its epic.
This is definitely one of my most favorite final bosses in gaming I had other two come close but none have impressed me as much as Dr. Weil having to be my most favorite villain and the best fight ever in my eyes.
This final boss and ending is possibly my favorite video game ending of all time. It's so perfect that if they ended the main Mega Man timeline on this, I wouldn't mind at all.
in a way, it does, if you think about it, Zero here saves what was left of the human race, which ends up making the surviving human and reploids finally live in peace, which was Dr. Light's ultimate wish...ironic that it was Wily's final creation that made it possible.
I like how you included the Resonnant vie version at the end of the video for those whp never heard it around a part in of that version everything slows down and a gentler more melancholic main melody is played, i like to imagine its played as zero is crashing and burning into earth after defeating into weil, almost as a sense of peace
Yeah, the Resonnant Vie version is a pretty underatted version of Falling Down, and as you mentioned, the slower, melancholy theme makes it stand out compared to its fellow versions.
I've always felt like the entire game exists for this moment alone. Zero 4 often feels like the awkward entry in the series, struggling to live up to 3's greatness and often falling short. There's a great underlying story, but the execution of it is not great and the gameplay just isn't as good as 3's either. Pretty much everything before Ragnarok feels like it's more flawed than it is genuinely good. Once you get there though, all the pieces finally come together and the game starts to shine more brilliantly than the entire Zero series before it. This is it, the ultimate finale. Not just the end of the game, but the conclusion to Zero's story as well. You can feel the ever present sense of doom throughout the whole place, and yet Zero must fight on to protect that which he has come to care about, and for the future those he cares about have struggled so hard for. Even if that means he won't be in it. Those final words, especially the part where he says "I never called myself a hero", are what really put the cherry on the top of the finale sunday. This isn't about doing the right thing to Zero, he's not acting out of a sense of good vs evil. He doesn't see his actions as a noble sacrifice for the greater good. He's just doing what he needs to. An enemy has appeared in front of him, and whether it's the right thing to do or not he is resolved to defeat it. Even if it means the end of him.
I agree, I honestly planned on making this video about the final Ragnorok stage as a whole. From the eerie sense of dread, Ragnoroks theme creates, foreshadowing the upcoming events, to the Einherjar Warriors warning of Ragnorok. (With Tech Kraken encouraging Zero and Heat Gemblem questioning his Commander wishes). And of course, you likely know how I feel about the final event, really just a solid end and ending.
@@PrimeShiem A lot of people say that the series should have just ended with 3, but honestly I feel like 4 was necessary. Sure, you deal with Omega in 3, but Weil is still a threat. It would be weird to have that threat still looming and then just end the series there, or worse move on to ZX for the next game and just leave what happened to Weil unanswered. It might have been a bit of a rocky path getting there between 3's ending and most of 4, but 4's ending is the perfect ending to the Zero series and for Zero as a character, so much so that the game is saved from being a mediocre entry into actually being good, though I'm still kinda salty about how the recipe system was handled.
While I know Inti did want to end it with a game between Zero 1 and 2, im honestly happy that Capcom wanted a 4th entry. It ties the story together well and ends it on a high note. Also, as a Zero 4 fan, the parts and recipie system does suck tho.
@@PrimeShiem Honestly I feel like the recipe system could have been fixed pretty simply by making three simple changes: 1. Give the player every recipe from the start so that they know what they need to make what thing. 2. Add in an additional menu screen to the crafting menu that lists out every part, what level to find it in, and what enemy drops it. 3. Tweak the drop rates of health and EC to be about what they were in Zero 3 without making the parts more rare. Some parts should also be made more common to make them less of an annoying grind. This would make the whole system much less awful to deal with.
Honestly these are really smart changes! My immediate thought is the moloid, which is not only in one stage, but said stage is non repayable, making it a grind as if you dont get it there, you never will.
Another reason why that fight was so epic is because if that Space Colony had hit the Earth everyone would be dead. The ultra Violet radiation hitting the Earth would wipe out anyone within a limited radius. Neo Arcadia is destroyed because of the fuck you laser, and the resistance base and area zero isn’t that far away from each other. Zero LITERALLY sacrificed himself to save the planet! And Weil’s anger and animosity made manifest in that scene with him fusing with the colony in a very painful way as the metal forces it’s way into his body. If he can’t rule over humanity and there shouldn’t be a humanity! Yeah the game felt empty because X and the guardians wasn’t in the game but it feels a little better because of it because the game was about tying up loose ends. Settling the score with Weil the bastard that fucked yo the planet with that war he started hundreds of years ago!
This boss is honestly one of my favourites of all time and it goes alongside final xemnas to me with the title of best final boss, the atmosphere, the music, imagery and story tension all come together in the end to create a boss that go above and beyond in being memorable, zero 4 is (maybe) my favourite megaman game so nice to see it being appreciated :)
There is not a series since that has just made me exclaim how freaking cool of a scene it is. The music, the atmosphere, the stakes, the dialogue, the meaning behind Zero's resolution from his years of existential crisis. He was born out of hatred and for a purpose that has plagued the world for centuries, but he's come to the conclusion. He doesn't give a crap what he's labeled anymore. He's got one life, and he's not hesitating anymore. He's going to end it all, right here and now. So freaking cool.
Zero's quote before the fight is my favoritr videogame quote ever. This final fight is perfect for Zero thematically too. It fufills X's dream of leading to a world where reploids and humans can live in peace. It fulfills Dr. Wily's dream in a sense as well. Zero defines the role of being a " Maverick" to kill Dr. Weil who is technically a human. Its the fitting end for Zero as a whole.
Truly a great explanation of your point of view about this battle. Me myself think of this as one of the best final battles ever made because all the context build around it.
The reason I loved FF16s ending so much is it reminded me a lot of the end of MMZ4. Clive goes up to destroy what is essentially an orbiting satellite knowing he's probably not going to make it back.
When you make a set of bosses like Omega and then Omega Zero, but then still manage to supersede Omega as the most iconic final boss of the series, it's just that good.
Mega Man 7. After Wily's 7 world domination attempts, managing to break out of capture, and making it very personal by tricking him into bringing an enemy into his own lab, Mega Man is at his limit, and decides Wily is too dangerous to be left alive. His programming stops him. 100 years later, a robot named X is unearthed who may have true free will, and has no limitation against killing humans. His creator left him to be tested autonomously due to the danger this could pose to society. ...Then the entire X series goes by and humans are barely even mentioned at all. Thanks for picking up the slack, IntiCreates.
yeah z4 and zx/zxa do a great job on focusing on the humans that the x series tended to neglect it’s kinda funny that the story about robots made to protect humanity kinda lost focus on why they needed to protect humanity for the longest time
I have to say, this is a great video and final battle! But i do believe there is something that truly stands out about this fight, at least to me Zero has conquered many challenges and foes along his journey, the Mavericks, Sigma, Omega, etc... but if there was one opponent he had yet to truly face, it was Wily.. the person who created and made Zero into an unstoppable killing machine in the first place. And in my eyes, Weil fighting Zero can be a symbolic representation of Wily fighting his own creation. I am aware Dr. Weil and Wily are two completely different people, but ill admit at the same time, there are some eerily close similarities between them. Both are old scientists, both want to rule the world, and both have a bone to pick with Zero... and despite all that they have done, Zero still comes out ontop! Although it did cost his life...(again really tho, Zero dying and then coming back from the dead really isn't really a surprise at this point but still) This battle in my opinion, was not only the final battle for Zero, but his final mission too. Just like how Rock and X have finished their missions, Zero is done with his too, and i think he earned a well-deserved rest! What a way to end the conflict thats been raging on since 20XX!
They are both supremacists, one a human supremacist (Weil) and one a robot supremacist (Wily)... And while Zero did achieve Dr Light's dream of man and machine living in peace, it also, ironically set the world on the inevitable road to seeing Wily's dream be achieved. Machine supremacy, free of the burdens of humanity.
I’m probably the only one that noticed this but, Zero 4 managed to pull a Sonic Adventure 2 Finalhazard, who did it better? No! They both did it amazingly well! Both have one of the characters die, both have emotional end credit themes and even their own ending screenshots with Zero’s broken helmet and a transparent Shadow the Hedgehog in front of the Earth. However Falling Down deserves just as much love as Live & Learn. It’s always about the Megaman 2 Wily Stage Theme.
Been replaying these after a couple years and man this series is hard af, but we love it regardless. Such a classic series always will love zero, a true hero
Damn, i never realised till i watched this video, that the background is actually changing. They are constantly falling down as the clock ticks as you see the earth rises up. I am always so engrossed in killing him ASAP that i failed to notice that detail till now. But deep down inside, the only reason i wanted to kill him fast is because, maybe, just maybe if im fast enough. Zero can make it back to ciel alive.
Everything leading to and up to final boss fight is perfect. Even the boss rush Teleporters serve as a functional distraction rather than just mega man Biz as usual If only Dr. Weil was written as Dr. Wily. God it would have been perfect and really have things come full circle.
It wouldn't have fit. At the end, Wily was pretty much done with humanity, being damn near a robot supremacist. He simply wished to rid the world of humanity's ilk.... And his final creation, by achieving Light's dream, puts the world on the inescapable path to achieving Wily's dream, in Legends.
I think the final bosses in the Mega Man games are not very epic, but I have a top 3 of the best and epic final bosses in the franchise. 1. Omega Zero - Mega Man Zero 3 2. Dr. Weil - Mega Man Zero 4 3. Albert - Mega Man ZX Advent
This fight is technically Zero saying "f@@@ you" to Dr Willy and his evil plans like: Zero: Screw you Dr Willy: I created you to destroy the world!! Zero: I choose my destiny and my purpose I will defeat Weil and you will watch it in hell
Nah, Wily created Zero to remove the corrupt humanity from the earth, to let machines be free... And Zero achieved Light's dream by destroying countless machines based on light's designs (reploids), and made peace between man and machine, but also ended up setting man on the path to extinction, as we saw with Legends. Wily won, while also giving his former friend one last gift.
>Badass fight >Badass music >Badass protagonist >Badass antagonist >Badass end quote >Badass character development There's no flaws in this fight. It's perfect. Everything...perfect. Right down to the very minute details.
By the end of the game you can tell that Dr. Weil has gone insane and I feel that the design of him and what he says when you beat just add to his insanity.
I play Zero 1 to 4 and I gotta say the ending in the 4 game gave me all sorts of sad feelings. Never did I expect Zero to be gone. Even after I watched the ending, I kept convincing myself that Zero would comeback, that there would be a Zero 5. Of course, that notion was all but put to rest after I played through ZX. Zero is a hero through and through.
My personal theory on how Weil can be Wily is similar to Weiss from Dirge of Cerberus FF7. In that game, Weiss was a vessel to place Hojo's digital consciousness in. That's how he remains a threat after his first death atop the sister ray in the OG game.
I remember this battle as a kid when I played it for the first time and there's so much that stuck with me: 1. After beating Weil, I figured there would be a second fight, but then once Zero started talking to Ciel I realized we didn't have TIME for a second fight: we are out of time and then.... 2. Weil rises up again and you're just left thinking, "Shoot, can he even die?" and then he tells you something I hadn't really considered... 3. We come up with a plan to blow Weil's core up and it carries some pretty grim implications: If we kill Weil, we're Maverick. Going Maverick doesn't have reasons for justifying it. If we kill a human, that's it. Zero hasn't done this in MMZ and I don't believe he kills any humans in the X series so this is a huge deal: it's the central conflict of the whole series. The other major implication is... 4. Ciel says "what will happen to you?" and it is completely ignored. When that Dialogue went ignored I knew what it meant. I'd played each of the Zero games and grew to love this character and it was my first real brush with a game that had the balls to definitively put an end to it's hero. It was wild and they told me the answer without saying a word. Finally.... 5. Weil turns into a monster and Zero gives that rousing speech about fighting for those who he believes in and asks that person to believe in him now and it's just perfect to pump you up for what you know is the very last fight you get to feel with this character. The game wasn't as memorable as the others for me but the ending is something that I still think is one of the best endings to a series I've ever seen. Thanks for this video and allowing me to express my thoughts and reminiscence on this great experience.
Weil's fight itself limiting your strikes is underrated. Z3 shred Omega with comboes, Z1 i-frames if you arent stun-locking, Z4 Weil's strategy defensive till you seize openings. The fight set piece further rushes turning redder closer to 0 Ragnorak is crashing.
In several aspects, Weil is a better final boss than Omega. Whilst Omega’s 3rd phase is fastpaced and truly amazing, i feel Weil outdoes Omega’s first 2 phases by a long shot. Also the story is much better done. Omega mightve been set up as a threat duringthe entirety of 3, that’s mostly what he was, a massive physical danger. Weil is the mastermind behind all the suffering, now also a physical threats, and there is simply more dialogue between the two (omega has only one real sentence apart from saying zero’s name) Zero 4 was the best way this serie couldve ended, and they made the main character death not sad but metal af
It's really just fucking epic. Rest of the game was pretty whatever compared to 3 but the final boss is probably the best in the entire Mega Man series as a whole.
Isn't there a cutscene in the final fight when the 2 minute timer runs out or just a basic mission failed screen just like that (don't rely play Megaman)
a subtle thing i like about zero 4 is we see that the refugees have NOT evacuated area zero the robot wars have been going on fure CENTURIES both sides are sick of this either the war stops here or both will be extinct and it was dr willy ultimate creation that fulfilled dr lights greatest dream and thanks to megaman 11 we know originally before the bitterness took over dr willy wanted his robots to be heros
I love your channel man, I have loved the MegaMan Franchise ever since I was a child (I'm 24 y.o. as of writing this), and I started with X8, and Zero was always my favorite character, he became my favorite character ever in any piece of media. (Rivaled only by Shadow The Hedgehog but that's for another day), and this final fight, Zero having the resolve to fight for his loved ones (Not caring about justice, just pure love for them) and him making the ultimate sacrifice in such an intense and glorious fight that felt like THE GREATEST THING EVER WAS GOING ON RIGHT HERE. (It's even Biblical in a way, Jesus Christ said "There's no greater love than that who gives his life for a loved one") It's just amazing, it leaves me with a sense of satisfaction like almost no other game or game series ever has. The Zero Series is the epitome of 2D game design (for me), the Epitome of the MegaMan Franchise not just gameplay wise but story wise as well, and even when I love Mega Man so much, I am aware the franchise is FAR from perfect and stories aren't its strong suit, but to find THE ABSOLUTE GEM that is the Zero Series in said franchise is poetical, (Shout-out to the Legends Series as well or its mysterious aura, and the many other MegaMan Series for their creativity!)
wait a minute? where are the dialogue voices from???? Are you telling me there are CHARACTER VOICES in the JP ROM of Megaman Zero 4?????????? EXCUSE ME?????????
Despite being a massive zero 3 fanboy, mechanically Omega Pales in comparison to Weil. So yeah I admit that Zero 4’s final boss is better then Zero 3’s but like… Z3 is still the best zero game
To me, zero 4 was the weakest game of the quadrilogy but had the best ending boss (and a conclusive and satisfying finale). Zero 2, on the other hand, was my favorite of the bunch but had the weakest ending boss
So, here is a fun fact, if Zero dies in this fight, Weil says this: "Live out an eternity of suffering, fool! I will be the first entry in a glorious new history! Remember the name Dr. Weil! The world, everything, mine... Forever!!"
“I never cared about skibbidy toilet I don’t recall ever calling myself a sigma I have always only edged for the fanum tax I believed in I won’t mew if an gyat appears in front of me, I will rizz it !” Ahh final boss

Also something some people miss is Zero's last act of heroism is going maverick as defined back in X1 he intends to harm/kill a human even if it is for the good of others by the original definition he's still going Maverick
Zero would actually be invoking the 0th Law of Robotics, "A Robot may not harm humanity, or by inaction allow humanity to come to harm", the 0th law makes it so that under specific cercumstances a Robot is allowed to harm an individual,
and you can make the argument that Wile is no longer human considering the obvious machinery underneath his body, and the fact that he effectively says that he is an A.I before the Phase 1 fight, in which case the 0th law would not need to be invoked.
-
And this is assuming Wily even programmed Zero with the Laws of Robotics in mind, as there is a very real chance that both X and Zero are actually capable of not following the laws of Robotics of their own free will or are simply not programmed with them, the last two Robot Masters being the only ones that aren't bound by the Laws of Robotics is an interesting thought however.
@@TheFearsomeRatCool! Pretty neat, I never thinked about that. More reasons for love this series so much~ 😄💖
Actually, the original definition of going maverick is to rebel against an authority. He went maverick in Z1, and was a hero for standing up against tyrannical authority.
@@TWLSparkshut up zx hater
@@TWLSparkYeah, pitifully it exists but we can say as well as with Battle network that it all ZX and Legends together are an different timeline.
I just finished the game yesterday, man, that was rough. Cried like a little baby.
That's a completely fair reaction, man. That ending knows how to pull your heart strings.
As much as I like Omega Zero's fight context-wise. I honestly prefer this fight the more I think about it. An intense final battle for a reason, as it really really impacts you emotionally pre-fight and post-fight. A top tier finale!
I also love Omega Zero's fight, but I feel on both fronts, gameplay and story, this one just *got it*

I'm glad you said that !!
Yeah, he could have just played the waiting game. Although if Zero had the double jump chip, that may have been a problem.
I like the detail of the time running out and the Earth atmosphere approaching.
I always found that cool, it always added to the urgency of the moment for me.
I love the “Mission Failed” screen when the time runs out. It really convinces you that you really really failed even if you have extra lives.
3:31 this is literally the first time I saw you could do that, I just tank it...
This final boss fight is the peak of megaman as a whole, everything is so perfectly aligned, I really cannot describe how perfect it is without writing an entire bible, I just love it so much, and I would lie if I said I didn't cry like never with that ending.
Yeah i genuinely think this final boss is a highlight of Mega Man as a whole. Literally everything as iv'e mentioned about the fight is perfect.
First time I ever cried at the end of video game. And when I played Megaman Zero collection I cried again hearing - conpletely caught off guard that of all things they changed ONE SPECIFIC THING about presentation.
Someone at capcom knew. 10/10
Good lord I get CHILLS everytime I hear “Falling Down”
RIP ZERO 🥺🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I wish X and zero series get a Castlevania treatment some day, a really nice animated series
Funny Fact, Falling Down it's remix- Zero Awakening from Megaman Zero 1 ,when Ciel found him
1 in the morning, and you upload a MMZ video, thank you sir.
It's my pleasure!
this fight mirrors X4 so much
While he failed to save Iris in X4, now he was able save Ciel along with rest of the world
"Ragnarok" has similar meaning to the "Final Weapon"
Ragnarok means "The ultimate destruction of the gods" which hints at the plot that Zero who created to be the "god of destruction", and that he would face his final fate here.
Thank you! The scene and the moment can do a lot for a would be simple event.
It Has To Be This Way from MG Rising goes well with this fight too. If you can sync the drop that happens around 50 seconds into the song to when Warning comes up on the screen its epic.
Its a pretty good final battle. Zero's speech is great!
Zero's speech definitely adds to the fight.
This is definitely one of my most favorite final bosses in gaming I had other two come close but none have impressed me as much as Dr. Weil having to be my most favorite villain and the best fight ever in my eyes.
Yeah, this is honestly a phenomenal fight, and I can't blame you for having this as your undisputed favorite!
This final boss and ending is possibly my favorite video game ending of all time. It's so perfect that if they ended the main Mega Man timeline on this, I wouldn't mind at all.
Honestly, I feel the same way. I definitely think it could fit as the conclusion to the Mega Man timeline.
in a way, it does, if you think about it, Zero here saves what was left of the human race, which ends up making the surviving human and reploids finally live in peace, which was Dr. Light's ultimate wish...ironic that it was Wily's final creation that made it possible.
I don't need convincing, I already know it's good :)
I like how you included the Resonnant vie version at the end of the video for those whp never heard it around a part in of that version everything slows down and a gentler more melancholic main melody is played, i like to imagine its played as zero is crashing and burning into earth after defeating into weil, almost as a sense of peace
Yeah, the Resonnant Vie version is a pretty underatted version of Falling Down, and as you mentioned, the slower, melancholy theme makes it stand out compared to its fellow versions.
this boss, in my opinion, takes some inspiration from Omega's Second form in Zero 3, especially the placement of his hitbox.
@@PrimeShiem Honestly I feel like the recipe system could have been fixed pretty simply by making three simple changes:
What I really loved about zero 4 alot was how zero went on so many suicide missions it made the game feel more dark and action thrilling.
I am today's year old when I know that I can hold onto Dr. Weil's horn to avoid the laser beam attack from ground level
I genuinely can't think of a better way to close Zero's story, on all fronts it's perfect.
The Finak boss of Zero 4 is fantastic, My only criticism it that the time limit should’ve been 3 minutes & not 2, 2 minutes feels too short for me.
When you make a set of bosses like Omega and then Omega Zero, but then still manage to supersede Omega as the most iconic final boss of the series, it's just that good.
Did you know that Dr. Weil is Quarter Guy's most hated character, but also his second favorite fight in the Mega Man Zero series right behind Omega.
Damn brother, I cried like a baby by the end of Mega Man Zero 4. Great game! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved all the Megaman Zero games. Good memories on them long car trips!
2:08 - 2:19 nice theme transition
Zero is such a wonderful character
Thanks for picking up the slack, IntiCreates.
yeah z4 and zx/zxa do a great job on focusing on the humans that the x series tended to neglect
it’s kinda funny that the story about robots made to protect humanity kinda lost focus on why they needed to protect humanity for the longest time
Anyone else notice that Weil's final form is the face of a Japanese one eyed Oni?
I have to say, this is a great video and final battle! But i do believe there is something that truly stands out about this fight, at least to me
Zero has conquered many challenges and foes along his journey, the Mavericks, Sigma, Omega, etc... but if there was one opponent he had yet to truly face, it was Wily.. the person who created and made Zero into an unstoppable killing machine in the first place. Although it did cost his life...(again really tho, Zero dying and then coming back from the dead really isn't really a surprise at this point but still)
This battle in my opinion, was not only the final battle for Zero, but his final mission too.
If you look closely, Weil's final form is the face of a Japanese ogre. Think of a one eyed Kusaregedo from Samurai Shodown.
It's honestly insane how similar they are. Don't forget to mention the final boss fusing with the space station!
It’s the song that wraps up the whole Megaman-Wily saga, paving the way to Legends…
Even the boss rush Teleporters serve as a functional distraction rather than just mega man Biz as usual
If only Dr.
1. Omega Zero - Mega Man Zero 3
2. Dr. Weil - Mega Man Zero 4
3. Albert - Mega Man ZX Advent
I honestly kinda agree. Imo, ther Zero and Zx series have the most epic final fights of the series, from what I've played so far.
That finish though
This fight is technically Zero saying "f@@@ you" to Dr Willy and his evil plans like:
Zero: Screw you
Dr Willy: I created you to destroy the world!!
>Badass fight
>Badass music
>Badass protagonist
>Badass antagonist
>Badass end quote
>Badass character development
There's no flaws in this fight. It's perfect. Everything...perfect. Right down to the very minute details.
Couldn't agree more.
Zero was able to work around the first rule of robotics because Weil ceased to by human. He was literally just a monster with a human face.
For anyone looking for the transcript on 1:06 onwards in japanese:
正義の味方レも無けでま
自分を栄于と名の他想いもない。
御待ったな。しぶんや信じるもの為に唯かてきた。
俺はま遠慮もない。。。
目の前に的が現るあら、只気きるまでだ!
I remember this battle as a kid when I played it for the first time and there's so much that stuck with me:
Falling down is a master piece!!! I can remember my first time, my heart beating like a dragon ahhaa
Zero was introduced as an ultimate badass and went out as one too.
Weil is the mastermind behind all the suffering, now also a physical threats, and there is simply more dialogue between the two (omega has only one real sentence apart from saying zero’s name)
Zero 4 was the best way this serie couldve ended, and they made the main character death not sad but metal af
Yeah. while I love Omega, it never really felt like he was the main threat of Z3, so taking Weil down definitely fees more climatic.
You dropped this 👑
It's really just fucking epic. Rest of the game was pretty whatever compared to 3 but the final boss is probably the best in the entire Mega Man series as a whole.
Zero knew that he wasn't planning on coming back, so he was ready to die if it meant protecting the very people X trusted.
Will you make a video about Omega (and other good bosses as well)?
I actually planned to make a video doing him and Weil at the same time. I'm glad to see people are interested in it!
For me, the Zero serie is the best mega man games and stories from the mega man series
Well it is inspired by Gundam. Crossbone Gundam X3 vs MA-10 Divinidad.
Isn't there a cutscene in the final fight when the 2 minute timer runs out or just a basic mission failed screen just like that (don't rely play Megaman)
The screen fades to white, and then a standard Mission Failed, or Game Over text depending on your lives come up.
@@PrimeShiem thank you, needed to hear that out of curiosity
I didn’t know you could grab onto the horn of the boss
a subtle thing i like about zero 4 is we see that the refugees have NOT evacuated area zero
the robot wars have been going on fure CENTURIES both sides are sick of this
either the war stops here or both will be extinct
and it was dr willy ultimate creation that fulfilled dr lights greatest dream
and thanks to megaman 11 we know originally before the bitterness took over dr willy wanted his robots to be heros
(It's even Biblical in a way, Jesus Christ said "There's no greater love than that who gives his life for a loved one")
It's just amazing, it leaves me with a sense of satisfaction like almost no other game or game series ever has.
Also if my memory don't fail me the heat sword can reach him even with his shield on
wait a minute? where are the dialogue voices from???? Are you telling me there are CHARACTER VOICES in the JP ROM of Megaman Zero 4?????????? EXCUSE ME?????????
Oh, the voice came from Remastered Tracks: Rockman Zero Physis, as an audio drama.
It'd just be nice if it weren't forced into the same stage as the refight room.
Despite being a massive zero 3 fanboy, mechanically Omega Pales in comparison to Weil. So yeah I admit that Zero 4’s final boss is better then Zero 3’s but like… Z3 is still the best zero game
Also, upon thinking about it, Weil is the only final boss who you don't fight in a form similar to yours.
SO DOEs ZERO DIE at the end of mega man zero 4? Because I got to the ending in mega man zero4
Yes, he dies at the end.
Yeah because I got to the end
AND MEGA MAN ZERO ONLY HAD 4 GAMES ON THE GBA WHEN ZERO DIED THE MEGA MAN ZERO GAME ENDS AND NO MORE MEGA MAN ZERO GAMES
Of Capcom makes more
This is the only Mega Man theme I compare to MM6's end boss.
You can grab the horn?
To me, zero 4 was the weakest game of the quadrilogy but had the best ending boss (and a conclusive and satisfying finale). Zero 2, on the other hand, was my favorite of the bunch but had the weakest ending boss
ONORE DIKEIDO!!!!
So, here is a fun fact, if Zero dies in this fight, Weil says this:
"Live out an eternity of suffering, fool!
Ummmm what the sigma
