Well let's not count Mario and Sanic who have no character development whatsoever. Maybe the only other character that could compete with Zero is Adol Christin. But with Zero it's a really nice development. He truly got his shit together.

The original sonic games on the master system and genesis were pretty mature too but it's not like there was actual character development in them. Sonic Adventure 1 was pretty dark too
Technically X and Zero aren't Reploids, as far as i know. If i remember correctly, X was the template for the Reploids, which is why they even have that name in the first place (since all of them are pretty much based off X). As for Zero, he was used as the template for only one Reploid, Omega, who was created by Dr. Weil.
VYNLT Yes, you're correct. They are technically not reploids since reploids were built off of X's design, but his design could not be fully replicated. This is also the reason why in Zero 3 why Zero was the only "Reploid" unaffected by the Dark Elf.

33:14 Stand by Zero theme will always be my top theme for Zero and it fits so well with him in the Command Mission game. This is a Zero who is strictly mission bound and hides his emotions until another tragedy strikes which ultimately have him to stay true to himself for the sake of others while fighting along side with his comrades.
Command mission and it’s soundtrack is so incredible!! Zero’s theme is really incredible. Funnily enough it was my intro to megaman games lol, I’ve only recently started getting into the other games
Zero series was good. It was hard like a classic megaman while still felt refreshing at the same time. The right mix of adventure platforming and story driven bosses and a sweet soundtrack.

I agree with you on the Zero design. So streamlined and definitely a better fit for the fast-paced gameplay than him with those massive square shoulder pads. I mean, Zero was always meant to be a freaking fast-moving, relentless killing machine, so the more aerodynamic design in the Zero series makes perfect sense. Ambigu Daisuki yeah I definitely see what you're saying but you can't deny the x6 version when he battles with megaman is really fucking good as well since the drums have this metal influence in them, hints the tons of metal remakes, yet very heavy with its originally melody.

My first X series game was MegaMan X3, that's where I first encountered Zero, that was back when I was a kid. Now, since I've played many more games featuring him since then, I've grown to really admire him. Both him and X have been through so much, but Zero was once evil thanks to the Zero Virus that Dr. Wily programmed him with when he was created. To go from a reploid that was meant to destroy everything in its path, to the maverick hunter we all know and love today is the reason why he's so awesome. From maverick to maverick hunter, no matter what form he takes, he'll always be the most badass MegaMan character in history. Zero and Protoman will be forever my favorites.
Games I would love to see from the Mega Man series: Mega Man 11 - A lot of people say they want a tie in to the X series but then they would have to end the classic series so fuck that. A Mega Man Classic/X tie in game - Don't make it a 12,13,14 game, just make a crossover that explains the gap in time. Mega Man X9 - What in the shit happened to Axl? I need to find out! Mega Man Zero 5 - I know zero is dead and was stored in the biometal along with everyone else but a cool game idea would be if Ciel had to go around collecting their data first through stages and what not. She has the long hair and whatever so put on some armor and bang, the new Zero! Mega Man ZX3 - This one I could live without, but a link between this and Legends would be cool. In the end of ZXA, Thomas says "This world needs to be reset". I believe he succeeds at his goal and hence why the Legends series connects to this. Mega Man Legends 3 - This one doesn't need a reason. Mega Man Battle Network 7 - Possibly a story about Lan Hikari's son, Patch. Mega Man Star Force 4 - I just want to see this game happen :) So uh, yea. Capcom get to it xD
I heard there's actually a fan-made game called "Mega Man Ciel", and it's pretty much what you said. I think the idea's kinda weird tough. It makes the resistance soldiers seem even more incompetent. Like, a little girl can take care of the enemies, but they ll die everytime they try to do something useful (mega man zero 2 righteous strike operation), and yet it's their job. At least they had the excuse that the only one that could do it was Zero, lol.
I want a game that takes place after Command Mission that goes over X and Zero in the Elf Wars to tie in the Zero and X series if games. I imagine it having the weapon level up system that the Zero series had for Zero along with all of his nice weapons, and X's play through would be based more on the X series where he'd get a weapon from each boss.

It really says something that Zero dies almost as much as friggin Yamcha from Dragon Ball but he manages to still be one of the best characters in the entire franchise. All about framing honestly.
For me the Omega fight is one of the most significant in the entire megaman series since it is effectively destroying the last remnant of Dr. Wily by destroying zero’s original body having succumb to Wily’s original programming.
And to think, if Sigma hadn't broken the jewel on Zero's head and been infected by the Maverick Virus, we might never have gotten the heroic Zero we all love so much.

if you ask me Zero is one of the most myterious game characters ever, he does things for multiple sides, defeated the legendary copy X, and many more things, but he eventually died saving the world basically by not letting new reformed nature be destroyed once again. Zero has done the impossible and is basically capcom's version of goku but more badass and legendary.

They forgot some of the really cool ones like the second opening theme for Zero in Mega Man X5, there was an awesome remix redone of it called Zero's Plight, also in Mega Man Zero 3 the track called Return to Zero, and Area Zero - Theme of Zero, in the Zero series as well.

People seem to think that Zero dies all the time, but he's only done it... 4 times? Twice in the X series, once in his own series, and I guess once in ZXA, the last of which I haven't played or even watched a walkthrough of... 4 deaths across, like, 18 or so games isn't *that* bad. Sigma has a worse K/D record than that. lol There's 5 deaths if you count the possible death of Zero.exe from the Battle Network/Star Force timeline. I personally don't count that because it's optional, not confirmed to be canon (like Dr. Doppler's possible death in X3, actually) and he's from an entirely different continuity; the guy we see die 4 times in the other games is in the same continuity throughout.
Turnabout Akamia I agree. However although it doesn't seem like a lot of times, the consistent deaths Capcom puts him through kinda ticks some people off. Zero doesn't deserve that kind of disrespect. If it was just the first couple of times, it could be reasonable.
***** I dunno. Every single time Zero has died to date, he died saving lives. X1, he was saving Mega Man X, who went on to save other lives, including his rebuilt self in X2. X5, he saved X again (in at least one ending, anyway) from whatever Sigma was planning to do to him in his weakened state after their fight with eachother. Zero 4, died saving everyone in Area Zero from being fired upon by a superweapon Dr. Weil was gonna fire at them. ZXA is the odd one out, actually. Since posting my comment, I looked into that game. He was saving Vent/Aile and X (again) but the dialogue (at least in the English translation) implied he wasn't gonna die doing that. Likely because the other Biometals were once reploids he knew, or some other reason. Regardless, I think there's a case for his survival there, at least through implication.
KamektheMagikoopa1 Among characters who have died more than once, Zero's 3 deaths (4 if counting ZXA, which isn't even a certainty) is actually a low number. I'm pretty sure Goku's been killed more often. Optimus Prime has died at least once every continuity since the G1 movie.

A big misconception about biometal Model Z is that it's actually Zero. That is not true. Ciel merely created the biometals to try and revive Zero...again. At least, that's what I think. The biometals are like Zero's new body from Megaman Zero. It contains Zero's original data, but his memories weren't fully transferred, but because his mental data was originally designed only for combat, he regained his memories by destroying enemies and gained large chunks of memories by destroying enemies that were a large part of his life, fighting not only his best friend's imitation, but himself. Ciel tried to revive Zero using the same technology, leading to the creation of the biometals, but could not finish her work before she mysteriously vanished. I could go on to explain Albert creating Model W and Model A, but only if you want me too.
To my knowledge, Ciel actually created the biometals in attempt to make a failsafe for Model W; because it's stated in ZX that Model W is a fragment of Ragnarok that had Weil fused with it. Reviving Zero may have just been a secondary objective. Otherwise, she'd have to reason to create all the other models. Of course, Albert did in fact create Model A.
I think the fact that Zero is a Wily creation in and of itself explains why he keeps dying and inexplicably coming back. Wily's creations were often ticking timebombs of failure but by that same token... Wily kept coming back time and time again and often his own robot masters were resilient and even came back to Megaman demanding rematches.
Saying shortly, Zero started his exsistance as a friend of main hero in game with cartoon seriousness level, but he was evolving into much more serious character toghether with the game series, his personality grw more complicated and mature, then he became a hero on his own, and now, he is just a legendary crimson-armored swordsmaster .
Dude what is it with the zero series even after all these years having the best renditions of zero's many themes. THEY'RE MOSTLY IN GBA QUALITY YET I ADORED EVERY SINGLE ONE

I agree with you on the Zero design. So streamlined and definitely a better fit for the fast-paced gameplay than him with those massive square shoulder pads. I mean, Zero was always meant to be a freaking fast-moving, relentless killing machine, so the more aerodynamic design in the Zero series makes perfect sense. What was Wily thinking when he designed Zero's original look?

My first X series game was MegaMan X3, that's where I first encountered Zero, that was back when I was a kid. Now, since I've played many more games featuring him since then, I've grown to really admire him. Both him and X have been through so much, but Zero was once evil thanks to the Zero Virus that Dr. Wily programmed him with when he was created. To go from a reploid that was meant to destroy everything in its path, to the maverick hunter we all know and love today is the reason why he's so awesome. From maverick to maverick hunter, no matter what form he takes, he'll always be the most badass MegaMan character in history. Zero and Protoman will be forever my favorites.
I like how Cannonball sounds like Zero's theme in x1 (or z1) but way more serious and unhinged
Games I would love to see from the Mega Man series:
Mega Man 11 - A lot of people say they want a tie in to the X series but then they would have to end the classic series so fuck that.
A Mega Man Classic/X tie in game - Don't make it a 12,13,14 game, just make a crossover that explains the gap in time.
Mega Man X9 - What in the shit happened to Axl? I need to find out!
Mega Man Zero 5 - I know zero is dead and was stored in the biometal along with everyone else but a cool game idea would be if Ciel had to go around collecting their data first through stages and what not. She has the long hair and whatever so put on some armor and bang, the new Zero!
Mega Man ZX3 - This one I could live without, but a link between this and Legends would be cool. In the end of ZXA, Thomas says "This world needs to be reset". I believe he succeeds at his goal and hence why the Legends series connects to this.
Mega Man Legends 3 - This one doesn't need a reason.
Mega Man Battle Network 7 - Possibly a story about Lan Hikari's son, Patch.
Mega Man Star Force 4 - I just want to see this game happen :)

I heard there's actually a fan-made game called "Mega Man Ciel", and it's pretty much what you said. I think the idea's kinda weird tough. It makes the resistance soldiers seem even more incompetent. Like, a little girl can take care of the enemies, but they ll die everytime they try to do something useful (mega man zero 2 righteous strike operation), and yet it's their job. At least they had the excuse that the only one that could do it was Zero, lol.

if you ask me Zero is one of the most myterious game characters ever, he does things for multiple sides, defeated the legendary copy X, and many more things, but he eventually died saving the world basically by not letting new reformed nature be destroyed once again. Zero has done the impossible and is basically capcom's version of goku but more badass and legendary.

Think about how a bunch of the viruses look in Battle Network, Zero.EXE was a virus before he took a navi-like form. It's probably the influence for his look.

People seem to think that Zero dies all the time, but he's only done it... 4 times? Twice in the X series, once in his own series, and I guess once in ZXA, the last of which I haven't played or even watched a walkthrough of... 4 deaths across, like, 18 or so games isn't *that* bad. Sigma has a worse K/D record than that. lol
There's 5 deaths if you count the possible death of Zero.exe from the Battle Network/Star Force timeline. I personally don't count that because it's optional, not confirmed to be canon (like Dr. Doppler's possible death in X3, actually) and he's from an entirely different continuity; the guy we see die 4 times in the other games is in the same continuity throughout.
Turnabout Akamia I agree. However although it doesn't seem like a lot of times, the consistent deaths Capcom puts him through kinda ticks some people off. Zero doesn't deserve that kind of disrespect. If it was just the first couple of times, it could be reasonable.
***** I dunno. Every single time Zero has died to date, he died saving lives. X1, he was saving Mega Man X, who went on to save other lives, including his rebuilt self in X2. X5, he saved X again (in at least one ending, anyway) from whatever Sigma was planning to do to him in his weakened state after their fight with eachother. Zero 4, died saving everyone in Area Zero from being fired upon by a superweapon Dr. Weil was gonna fire at them.
ZXA is the odd one out, actually. Since posting my comment, I looked into that game. He was saving Vent/Aile and X (again) but the dialogue (at least in the English translation) implied he wasn't gonna die doing that. Likely because the other Biometals were once reploids he knew, or some other reason. Regardless, I think there's a case for his survival there, at least through implication.

I'm pretty sure Goku's been killed more often. Optimus Prime has died at least once every continuity since the G1 movie.

A big misconception about biometal Model Z is that it's actually Zero. That is not true. Ciel merely created the biometals to try and revive Zero...again. At least, that's what I think. The biometals are like Zero's new body from Megaman Zero. It contains Zero's original data, but his memories weren't fully transferred, but because his mental data was originally designed only for combat, he regained his memories by destroying enemies and gained large chunks of memories by destroying enemies that were a large part of his life, fighting not only his best friend's imitation, but himself. Ciel tried to revive Zero using the same technology, leading to the creation of the biometals, but could not finish her work before she mysteriously vanished. I could go on to explain Albert creating Model W and Model A, but only if you want me too.

To my knowledge, Ciel actually created the biometals in attempt to make a failsafe for Model W; because it's stated in ZX that Model W is a fragment of Ragnarok that had Weil fused with it. Reviving Zero may have just been a secondary objective. Otherwise, she'd have to reason to create all the other models.
Of course, Albert did in fact create Model A.

I think the fact that Zero is a Wily creation in and of itself explains why he keeps dying and inexplicably coming back. Wily's creations were often ticking timebombs of failure but by that same token... Wily kept coming back time and time again and often his own robot masters were resilient and even came back to Megaman demanding rematches.
Exactly most them had flaw that made them unquie but kept coming time and time again just like zero they keep getting stronger
Saying shortly, Zero started his exsistance as a friend of main hero in game with cartoon seriousness level, but he was evolving into much more serious character toghether with the game series, his personality grw more complicated and mature, then he became a hero on his own, and now, he is just a legendary crimson-armored swordsmaster .
