@Formarotica It's a direct translation from the Japanese version. While it may be what zero "canonically" says it's not exactly correct. I believe what he really meant to say was that X was gentle considering he preferred to do things without violence but will resort to it if given no other choice. We practically see this through X4-X8 in moments such as when he tried to talk the Repliforce Colonel out of fighting, and with most of the Maverick encounters of X5 (hated his portrayal in X7 though.)
I always love how you get to see the darker version of x and zero in the zero series. Copy x is pretty much what dr light feared x would turn out to be if he never underwent the 30 years ethical evaluation inside his capsule when he created him before being discovered. Omega zero on the other hand is the zero persona that dr willy always intended the zero we know and love to be when he fully embraces the power of the maverick virus inside his original body and taps into its potential in its purest form.

The body was further amplified by the dark elf and as a result Omega Zero is as close as we got awakened Zero from X5. However he is not as strong as the original Zero fully awakened with the virus. If this was the original X, he'd be the strongest as SIgma has said it multiple times.

Regarding the ice...well, Dante explained that the devil, the fallen one, is trapped in hell but not with brimstone or blazes, quite the opposite he's trapped in a frozen wasteland in a frozen lake. Fittingly for a warm fallen angel, you throw him into a freezing pit...or a frozen lightsaber in this case.
It's sad to think about. When Dr. Thomas Light first created Rock as a lab assistant robot, he NEVER would have imagined someone taking the image of Rock's upgraded form, Megaman and turned it into something like THIS! It definitely beats the Copy Robot from the first Megaman game, that's for sure!
Well technically, you could say it was the fault of BOTH doctors, (And yes, I'm taking a page from Game Theory on this, but it's still food for thought) since I think I remember something in the comics saying about a robot's free will and it was meant to be some sort of connection to the average man. An ambitious stride, but the fact of how careless some of his actions were. Like letting Protoman, a robot who had an unstable power core and a number of potentially dangerous weaponry on him, venture out into the world with some unpredictable consequences, because he didn't want to be turned off and rather than just track him down in case he ends up causing any damage just builds two more after that. (I think Game Theory can word it better than I can, but you get the point.)

I remember the first time I played Megaman Zero and fought Copy X, when X decided to transform into Seraph, I was like "well, if this thing gets out of here... The world is gonna be screwed"
People keep saying that it would have been better with the Original X as the main villain but... That literally wouldn't make any sense. That's not something X would have done. Copy X... I dunno if I would actually call him a perfect copy. He's definitely not a perfect copy in terms of personality. But yeah, let's assume he was a perfect copy. He didn't go through the 30+ years of morality testing that the original X went through. So he was X without a moral compass. Hence him becoming a dictator.
So, when I played this, I didn't know you could raise your health with those things you collected through ought the game (So I played through whole game with the minimum HP) and lemme tell you this boss. THIS BOSS RIGHT HERE. ;-;

I too didn't want X as the villain. It would have destroyed his character as far as I'm concerned, especially considering the first game made such a big deal about his 30 year testing cycle and how it made him less susceptible to becoming a Maverick. I'll never understand how anyone could want X as the villain. It'd be like having Dr. Light or Roll as the villain in a classic Megaman game.
FLOWEY'S CRAZY VIDEOS it’s in the sense during the boss fight (phase 1) he uses similar looking moves from old Mavericks hinting back to the old x games . Basically my point , with what doctor light having said that I think x using his full power would be the ability to change armors willingly and easily and having access to *all* old power ups he’s taken from Mavericks over the years
The thing about that is that the morality thing wasn’t coded in. Of all the robots in the series only X truly has free will. Which is why he would be capable of falling like that at all. Not going maverick. Not glitching out and going haywire. Losing sight of himself like a human being. It’s mostly interesting for poetic reasons. But it would also give us the possibility of a redemption arc. Which could be neat too. And the whole thing mirrored X-5’s plot rather nicely, with the roles reversed. Again it’s mostly a poetry thing.
Copy X’s design in this form is more evocative of the Seraph, much like Sephiroth’s final form in Final Fantasy 7, but it still fits, as it gives that impression of grandeur, of being this “ultimate hero” that Copy X believes that he is, where as X’s Cyber Elf form is a much more humble “angelic” appearance, with the simple halo and two wings.
the fact that copy x is the main antagonist is the icing on the cake. for me, megaman zero story carries the connotations of old generation>new generation. imagine this: zero is a legend from 100 years ago and when he wakes up, what does he find? A world gone to complete hell and who is at the helm? A copy of the real hero from ages past. I like to imagine founding fathers from 100 years ago would act much in the same way as zero does hahahahahaha
In general Megaman ever since X is all about the old being better really. Before the great minds of Light, Cossack even Wily, makes the world look toward the future, more and more weary due to the conflicts, but the new is better, Proto being bested by Megaman for example despite being the first of litteraly EVERY subsequent Robot Master thus the origin of X AND Zero and thus all Reploid because X, ironically one could get alot of similaritie between X and Proto both at the origin of their own generation, and Megaman and Zero for they are both the perfected form for what they were designed for and their own will is what puts them above their design, and in this instance Copy X and Bass, the copy was born but only manipulated thus only knew the worst and never how to become better, ofc each has their set of differances, but parralels are present. The reploids are only a fraction of what X was, ironically the Robot Masters also were a fraction of what Proto was, Proto was too advanced for his time, his own free will barely limited by his programming unlike all other subsequent Robot Master, and as far as things currently stands so long as he doesnt come close to Light he doesnt have to obey anyone else not of his own will, the closest to a reploid in terms of freedom, meaning all Robot masters are just fragments, a shallower copy of him. But then what about after Megaman, the world severely lost in technological understanding that only a fraction of X and even less of Zero was ever understood, the last two pinnacles of the old world the very top of what it managed to acheive in their quest for the future. Ever since then. The old was better, because the world never came back to such understanding ever again

Copy X was truly a perfect personification of what X could have become. The guy knows his a copy but has such a massive superiority complex seeing himself as "the perfect copy of X". Even Zero with no memories could see how weak and naive he was. In the end he was nothing more then a cheap copy. But gotta give credit to Ciel for making him at such a young age.

Light's creation from 400 hears ago) and X claimed he would build Elysium in X5's bad ending(which doesn't change much really since Zero dies in both endings, hell, in the old script X forgetting all about Zero would make sense for him becoming a tyrant since he thinks he was alone throughout his centuries of war and if the good ending is canon to that then X went mad from despair).

Copy x kinda reminds me of metal sonic, both are evil and red eyed, versions of the original heroes and both got monsterlike final forms (copy x in megaman zero and metal sonic in sonic heroes)
when i was playing megaman zero on my collection. when i got to this boss i was like " i'm fighting the copy of my best friend." got to him i was shocked on how he looked like x, pretty interesting. then when the fight started i was pumped up. his first form was hard for me. the second form was really hard, when he was transforming. i said " lets see your true power x." saw the angel like form, " holy shhh.." the theme kicked in and damn an amazing battle, died for straight 2 days, couldn't beat him.

Weil's evil was the result of Mavericks which were led by Sigma whose progression into more monstrous forms is a metaphor on how history changes descriptions of people. He made Omega who is the anti-christ, the opposite of Zero. And whom Wily and Sigma wanted to corrupt over the years and turn against God. Later on Zero sealed himself to save humanity and X's sealing and worship in Neo Arcadia can be seen as the modern age
I dunno, I'm pretty glad that they decided to make this boss a copy of X rather than the actual reploid himself. It's just weird to think that after playing 8 games with X as the main PROTAGONIST..you know..the HERO, and then suddenly see that he went so far gone to be the evil one in the Zero games. It sounds kinda cool in concept, but wouldn't this apply to literally every other character as well? What if Zero went evil? Axel? It just seems strange, especially since the X games weren't really building up for X to be evil to begin with. Though I am curious to see how it would have turned out had Zero fought a villainized X.
When you think about it. its sound like the x vs zero theme but more creepy and epic than just awesomely epic. As it share the same tone but has a more water down bass (bass if that's what it is I'm not an expert on this).
Bootleg X was a fun boss and i wish we got more of him. Honestly i liked his design (could have been a lil better but thats the artstyle) Loved the voice used in game and his angelic ultimate armor is a nice touch.. though i wish we got more sprites of him walking running etc. At least we got Model X

He had a power Omega never had and never will, protective instincts! Zero was hurt when he found out that Omega was using his original body, but once wounded, any beast becomes deadlier, and he had young Reploids to protect too, so yeah.... bottom-line Zero's power is his ability to protect his friends

What I don't like about Megaman Zero is is that there is barely any Megaman mechanics other than jump and shoot in here it's practically a metroid game that allows you to pick who you fight with the addition of a sword, but whatever as it's own thing it holds out the Megaman title is just there to help it sell but Zero games are uniquely their own thing that barely seen to link up to the X series maybe it was a timesplit within a timesplit

I'd agree with you more if you were talking about the ZX games, which I love, and probably my favorite megaman games, especially ZX 1, but I will say those are more Metroidvania than megaman.
Here we go, Way to go Neputyūnu The original plot(Legends, BN and SF not included, they are completely something else) is in fact MEGAMAN. But in every series it's more different to the classic ones. X is fast paced, with dash, less waiting. Zero is Lightining paced, with almost no time to wait, you actually has to be more strategic and the weakness system doesn't help that much. In ZX it's easier, but there's nothing like strategy, it's more about ''attack it until it dies'' with Model ZX. But they are all platforming, with the same type of hazards. And only different speeds. What changes the most are the boss battles.

X is basically God, who is considered a mighty and benevolent force that guides humanity, much like Dr. Light wanted him to do in the remake of X1. Zero is the Jesus figure, basically God's right hand and the fact that he dies and comes back all the time, Sigma is in many ways Lucifer in his original depiction a former angel who was cast out and became the tempter of reploids as the Sigma virus. While Weil is the modern Satan, evil incarnate.
I wonder how much stronger zero is than before. I mean, omega zero was using zeros original body that was enhance by the dark elf and given weapons stronger than the original ones. so zero in his new body has to be significantly stronger than before to be able to fight on part with his vastly enhance original body. maybe his new body has much more potential then the last.
oh, and even though your comment is really old now, I just thought of something, Omega may be a God of Destruction, but Zero is a God of Protection, so while Omega destroys without mercy, Zero defends without flinching, and at the end of the day, Zero has something Omega doesn't.... defensive capabilities

Vartholome it would happened if it ended at x5. X would have probably lost his morality after zeros death. Slowly shifting his morals. Seeing that the cause of all this is reploids he orders to eliminate all reploids instead of the ones that have gone maverick. X has a good intent but a bad plan and bad way of executing it. Zero I guess somehow comes back to life. that was never explained if x6 didn’t exist.....
The biggest problem with this fight is how there is _VERY_ little room for error. If you go too far left, or too far right, you're going right into a pit. Not to mention his ring attacks that stun you in place.

I too didn't want X as the villain. It would have destroyed his character as far as I'm concerned, especially considering the first game made such a big deal about his 30 year testing cycle and how it made him less susceptible to becoming a Maverick.
I'll never understand how anyone could want X as the villain. It'd be like having Dr. Light or Roll as the villain in a classic Megaman game.

FLOWEY'S CRAZY VIDEOS it’s in the sense during the boss fight (phase 1) he uses similar looking moves from old Mavericks hinting back to the old x games . Basically my point , with what doctor light having said that I think x using his full power would be the ability to change armors willingly and easily and having access to *all* old power ups he’s taken from Mavericks over the years
The thing about that is that the morality thing wasn’t coded in. Of all the robots in the series only X truly has free will. Which is why he would be capable of falling like that at all. Not going maverick. Not glitching out and going haywire. Losing sight of himself like a human being.
It’s mostly interesting for poetic reasons. But it would also give us the possibility of a redemption arc. Which could be neat too. And the whole thing mirrored X-5’s plot rather nicely, with the roles reversed. Again it’s mostly a poetry thing.

Copy X’s design in this form is more evocative of the Seraph, much like Sephiroth’s final form in Final Fantasy 7, but it still fits, as it gives that impression of grandeur, of being this “ultimate hero” that Copy X believes that he is, where as X’s Cyber Elf form is a much more humble “angelic” appearance, with the simple halo and two wings.
X: Could use any powerful armor at his disposal thanks to a capsule and cheat codes.

the fact that copy x is the main antagonist is the icing on the cake. for me, megaman zero story carries the connotations of old generation>new generation. imagine this: zero is a legend from 100 years ago and when he wakes up, what does he find? A world gone to complete hell and who is at the helm? A copy of the real hero from ages past. I like to imagine founding fathers from 100 years ago would act much in the same way as zero does hahahahahaha
In general Megaman ever since X is all about the old being better really.
Before the great minds of Light, Cossack even Wily, makes the world look toward the future, more and more weary due to the conflicts, but the new is better, Proto being bested by Megaman for example despite being the first of litteraly EVERY subsequent Robot Master thus the origin of X AND Zero and thus all Reploid because X, ironically one could get alot of similaritie between X and Proto both at the origin of their own generation, and Megaman and Zero for they are both the perfected form for what they were designed for and their own will is what puts them above their design, and in this instance Copy X and Bass, the copy was born but only manipulated thus only knew the worst and never how to become better, ofc each has their set of differances, but parralels are present.
The reploids are only a fraction of what X was, ironically the Robot Masters also were a fraction of what Proto was, Proto was too advanced for his time, his own free will barely limited by his programming unlike all other subsequent Robot Master, and as far as things currently stands so long as he doesnt come close to Light he doesnt have to obey anyone else not of his own will, the closest to a reploid in terms of freedom, meaning all Robot masters are just fragments, a shallower copy of him.
But then what about after Megaman, the world severely lost in technological understanding that only a fraction of X and even less of Zero was ever understood, the last two pinnacles of the old world the very top of what it managed to acheive in their quest for the future.
Ever since then. The old was better, because the world never came back to such understanding ever again

Copy X was truly a perfect personification of what X could have become. The guy knows his a copy but has such a massive superiority complex seeing himself as "the perfect copy of X". Even Zero with no memories could see how weak and naive he was. In the end he was nothing more then a cheap copy. But gotta give credit to Ciel for making him at such a young age.
The detached arms and lack of legs almost reminds me of Mega Man Juno from MML1.

Matheus B. Bergara it's a nice reference since THIS was gonna be X(not a clone, DR. Light's creation from 400 hears ago) and X claimed he would build Elysium in X5's bad ending(which doesn't change much really since Zero dies in both endings, hell, in the old script X forgetting all about Zero would make sense for him becoming a tyrant since he thinks he was alone throughout his centuries of war and if the good ending is canon to that then X went mad from despair).

Copy x kinda reminds me of metal sonic, both are evil and red eyed, versions of the original heroes and both got monsterlike final forms (copy x in megaman zero and metal sonic in sonic heroes)
when i was playing megaman zero on my collection. when i got to this boss i was like " i'm fighting the copy of my best friend." got to him i was shocked on how he looked like x, pretty interesting. then when the fight started i was pumped up. his first form was hard for me. the second form was really hard, when he was transforming. i said " lets see your true power x." saw the angel like form, " holy shhh.." the theme kicked in and damn an amazing battle, died for straight 2 days, couldn't beat him.

Weil's evil was the result of Mavericks which were led by Sigma whose progression into more monstrous forms is a metaphor on how history changes descriptions of people. He made Omega who is the anti-christ, the opposite of Zero. And whom Wily and Sigma wanted to corrupt over the years and turn against God. Later on Zero sealed himself to save humanity and X's sealing and worship in Neo Arcadia can be seen as the modern age

I dunno, I'm pretty glad that they decided to make this boss a copy of X rather than the actual reploid himself. It's just weird to think that after playing 8 games with X as the main PROTAGONIST..you know..the HERO, and then suddenly see that he went so far gone to be the evil one in the Zero games. It sounds kinda cool in concept, but wouldn't this apply to literally every other character as well? What if Zero went evil? Axel? It just seems strange, especially since the X games weren't really building up for X to be evil to begin with. Though I am curious to see how it would have turned out had Zero fought a villainized X.

When you think about it. its sound like the x vs zero theme but more creepy and epic than just awesomely epic. As it share the same tone but has a more water down bass (bass if that's what it is I'm not an expert on this).

What I don't like about Megaman Zero is is that there is barely any Megaman mechanics other than jump and shoot in here it's practically a metroid game that allows you to pick who you fight with the addition of a sword, but whatever as it's own thing it holds out the Megaman title is just there to help it sell but Zero games are uniquely their own thing that barely seen to link up to the X series maybe it was a timesplit within a timesplit

I'd agree with you more if you were talking about the ZX games, which I love, and probably my favorite megaman games, especially ZX 1, but I will say those are more Metroidvania than megaman.
Here we go, Way to go Neputyūnu The original plot(Legends, BN and SF not included, they are completely something else) is in fact MEGAMAN. But in every series it's more different to the classic ones. X is fast paced, with dash, less waiting. Zero is Lightining paced, with almost no time to wait, you actually has to be more strategic and the weakness system doesn't help that much. In ZX it's easier, but there's nothing like strategy, it's more about ''attack it until it dies'' with Model ZX.
But they are all platforming, with the same type of hazards. And only different speeds. What changes the most are the boss battles.

X is basically God, who is considered a mighty and benevolent force that guides humanity, much like Dr. Light wanted him to do in the remake of X1. Zero is the Jesus figure, basically God's right hand and the fact that he dies and comes back all the time, Sigma is in many ways Lucifer in his original depiction a former angel who was cast out and became the tempter of reploids as the Sigma virus. While Weil is the modern Satan, evil incarnate.
I wonder how much stronger zero is than before. I mean, omega zero was using zeros original body that was enhance by the dark elf and given weapons stronger than the original ones. so zero in his new body has to be significantly stronger than before to be able to fight on part with his vastly enhance original body. maybe his new body has much more potential then the last.

Seeing that the cause of all this is reploids he orders to eliminate all reploids instead of the ones that have gone maverick. X has a good intent but a bad plan and bad way of executing it. Zero I guess somehow comes back to life. that was never explained if x6 didn’t exist.....

The biggest problem with this fight is how there is _VERY_ little room for error.
If you go too far left, or too far right, you're going right into a pit.
