I have a jakl in 300blk. My only two complaints are that the charging sled could be a bit longer to reduce rattle and the recoil spring seems a bit weak. But other than that I have it sbr'd and 680 rounds with zero malfunctions
Great video. FWIW I love the PA SLX MD25 RDS, have three myself. Thinking of this pistol for my "truck gun" since the pistol brace issue has been laid to rest. Only real concern is accuracy. This is the second video from a well respected reviewer where the accuracy has been less than stellar. I also would have liked MAGPUL grip and trigger guard instead of the old A2 stuff. Will definitely get one at some point for the collection.
if you aren't a fan of the brace and plan to run it suppressed, get a direct thread can so you can add that as barrel length to turn it into a legal nonsbr rifle. You'll get the option to run a proper stock without having to file for an sbr stamp on top of that because the direct thread can counts as a permanent muzzle device, over a quick detach method which only counts the flash hider interface as a permanent muzzle device. I've been wanting to get a smaller piston driven rifle to do this exact thing too, and if I don't like the JAKL, I'll just put it back to its original configuration and I can just recoup my losses from there and try out a different platform. This definitely seems like a great platform for people who wanna try out the piston driven side of the AR platform, and it's extended family, but don't wanna spend the money that it usually comes with. Doesn't seem like a bad rifle but it's internals do have some quirks that don't make it quite match up with an AR lower which is annoying, and I'm just personally not a fan of rifles being in a pistol configuration. At that point I'll file for an SBR or Suppressed stamp based on what the builds purpose is.
@@jacob4155 I made this when the info out was still kinda contradictory to eachother. The lower IS an AR15 lower. The blend of reviews I watched made it seem like the lower needed a slightly different cut for the bolt catch paddle, but it isn't the case. The bolt catch is the unique part of that equation. You HAVE to run the JAKL specific bolt catch, but there might be some funky cuts you could make to get it to work, or maybe an aftermarket in the future. Essentially the physical paddle piece is different, and maybe the arm it's attached too. Its overall thinner because of clearance issues or something. Most uppers I've seen listed come with one so it's not something you necessarily have to worry about, just make sure you order one with it.
@@streamylcMy thoughts exactly! That means my MP5 with a direct thread can should be able to have a stock instead of a brace. Don’t think it works that way.

@@pewpewtactical I replaced the grip as soon as I got it with a nice DD grip. The trigger is fine for me personally but the brace is well… Yeah it’s awful. I do kinda wanna SBR it and put on an ACR stock.
I may be going against the grain, but i would be interested in a 16" barrel version. And I'm wondering if it will fit on a BRN-180 lower? I know it uses a plug to convert a standard AR lower to use a pic rail mount, so I'm wondering if I'll have to try and source one of Nodak Spud's NDS-180 lowers?
These piston AR pistols actually work better with a sling, which is what you should be using to stay compliant longer term. It is slightly awkward, but you can get stabilization pretty good with solid two point sling setup (no bungee) and also a technique with using the bottom of the grip as a third point of contact with the chest. With red dot a little further up the rail it is definitely doable to bring in the grip for a tighter tuck to the body (because there is no stock in the way) and still make shots. With these shorter barrels you also want to get heavier grain bullets, which isn't mentioned enough.
Somebody else in the comments mentioned that they would be interested when it comes in a 300 blackout.. Which made me wonder if the barrels are interchangeable with AR barrels and dude could just make his own...
It’s a general psa ar lower and uses their triggers you can get them with better triggers online. Did you shoot it enough to know if the charging shuttle cracked like on brass facts?
I'm not Shure I subscribe to the short is good theory, simple home defense maybe, but as for a one gun, you don't see short barrel benefit in Ukraine. I think a longer barrel and superior optics would be a smarter investment.
With upcoming regulations you really need to use the correct terms of calling that a brace and not a stock. We need to normalize braces and not keep calling them stocks if there is any chance to continue using them and not have to register as an SBR.
"The accuracy with a 10.5 inch barrel...." Barrel length shouldn't have much effect on accuracy at 25 yards. This only makes sense if you're using iron sights on the barrel to get a longer sight radius, which you aren't.
