Scorpion mags becoming very standardized. Love it
I have been running this PCC since December and did have a significant number of miss feeds. It settled down after about 90 rounds. Adding a Geissele SSA improved the shooting. Keep up the great content. Former Orange County Native now residing in the great state of TN.
What miss feed were you having?

Gotta love PSA as they still actually have stuff in stock. Needed two BCG's and searched high and low for exactly what I wanted, no one had it. Then I decided I'd just settle for anyone who had any BCG's in stock. PSA came through, kudos to them. Great video, editing and one liners as usual 👍🇺🇸
I used to hate them for the subpar QC they had but they've come a long way since then. Gotta give them kudos for having so much stuff and the new products they make.
I picked up the builder kit that included the upper, lower, bcg, and magazine. Threw it together with a Faxon 9mm barrel, SBA3, and a lot of other goodies and came in under the cost of the complete pistol by $100 or so. I already had an AKV, so this was sort of an impulse buy. It shoots GREAT. Little to no recoil, fast followup shots, and those mags! 35 rounds and I picked several up for $13.99. All in all, a great gun. I was looking hard at a Foxtrot Mike AR9, but went this route instead. FM Products seem great, but mags and the last round bolt hold open sold it for me.
Just bought the ARv, how does it compare to the the AKv? Does it have the same crazy rate of fire, and use a similar bolt design?
Great overview, I should have a chance to run this thing through some cycles in a couple weeks and like you I don't have alot of experience with it so this was very helpful. Also enjoyed the humor and one-liners, good stuff.
Banana clips/ magz look better on a pcc than angled glock magz. Just my 2 cents..
If you saw my glock mag pcc you would change your mind.
Looks are only a secondary benefit, curved 9mm mags suite the geometry of the slightly tapered case and therefore function better.

I took mine to the range for the first time yesterday. No issue with the bolt release. however I did have 1 malfuntion out of 150 rnds - hybrid FTE + live round half way through the chamber. It may be due to weak-ish Blazer brass 115 Gr ammo. The shell was caught by the BCG on the way back to battery - like the round didn't have enough juice to cycle the action and hit the ejector hard enough. No issue with federal 9bp JHPs. I think its a good plinking and even home defense PCC. I like that you can run it without a can and not go deaf.
You can get one of these blemished on PSA for 700 dollars, cool thing is that if in the future you decide you wanna "upgrade" (depending on who you ask) to an evo 3, all the magazines you bought will work. So it makes sense to step into one of these, kit it out, practice with it and then just swap all the accessories you bought for it to the scorpion if you decide to go that route. Really awesome.

If you want to try out some of the foxtrot Mike 15s. I have one with their very Stout folding stock 16 inch barrel. Another nine inch barrel. On a 80% lower. I've been shooting since nineteen sixty-six reloading since 1980 worked at a gun store late 80s to the 90s with all the weird guns were coming out. After they got rid of all the fun ones. I have had the foresight to pre-buy ammo & reloading equipment before panic each time. I have more reloading supplies and ammunition then I can shoot for the rest of my lifetime.

I imagine the bolt release thing is a feature similar to the cz p10c when you slap a loaded mag in, just speculation though

Bought the build kit as soon as they were released. Went together great. Only thing proprietary is the upper, lower and bolt. Everything else is standard AR.
I didn't get a watch to chance this yet, but giving an up thumbs anyway, because Californians need all the get they can help.
There's just something about the curve of the CZ/ARV mags that just pleases my eyes. The Glock mag AR9s just look wonky.
The bolt dropping when inserting a mag caused me some concern. It was more a concern at the range when the range operator wanted to go cold and my bolt had closed itself. I removed a little material from the bolt catch so mine takes a lot more effort to close now.
@Kyle Durham I filed a horizontal channel in the bolt catch. not very deep. Here's a little video i made. fast forward to the middle and i show the bolt catch. Be careful if you use a dremel. th-cam.com/video/uDOlbS_d8qA/w-d-xo.html

My bolt release was so tight I couldn't move it. Put some Lucas HP gun lube on it and the actual catch inside. Works perfect so far. No surprise releases.After first shoot, I didnt like the trigger and put in a CMC 3.5 specifically made for PCC's.

I was sitting on a cache of scorpion mags, so it was a no-brainer getting the AK-V instead of the KP-9. To not to add this to my collection would be a mistake so its on my list of "coming soon."
Just got a freedom ordanance fx9 but would have rathered one that used scorpion evo mags

The BCG going into battery with slight force from the magazine insertion could be a "combat ready" feature.
On H&K P30s, slighter heavier force than usual on magazine insertions causes the slide to go into battery. This is allegedly an unofficial "feature"; the thought process is if you are in combat under EXTREME duress it puts you back into action quicker, with a lower probability of mis-racking, or whatever. H&K won't confirm or deny it. I found out from the oldtimers on an H&K forum. I've heard this "feature" is also on some CZs and FNs.

I shot mine ONCE I actually mean ONE SHOT! And it hasn't fired another round since. I contacted PSA Warranty Dept & told them the issue seems to be coming from the bolt carrier group & pin, but now they want me to send the entire weapon to them 🤦🏾..... ONE PULL OF THE TRIGGER ONE ROUND FIRED=JUNK

Just slap ambi charging handle on it and you can essentially ak rack it
Is the reason the bolt release was easily chambering a round because this gun isn't supposed to have a last round bolt open feature? Based on PSA's website I thought the bolt is supposed to be closed once you finish a magazine?

I hate the AR platform. I prefer HK roller guns or AK but the ARV has me wanting an AR type gun lol. Id rather build one but theres no 80% lower that uses the scorpion mag....this needs to happen already!

I've been considering selling my unshot ptr 9kt for some other pcc. I could get so much more for $1,800. Can't stand the look of glock stick mag pccs. I can't tell if theres enough compatibility with regular ar's to buy the build kit?

Like the idea of scorpions mags better than Glock. Kinda don't care for the rearward angle of Glock mags in a PCC.

Everybody that has shot my ARV complained the kick was way to much. It felt like it was short stroking. Checking the action against their PSA 9. This travels a full inch less. It felt like The recoil spring was finding. The last three holes 6 position buffer tube we're drilled all the way through I mean all the way through even the top part of the tube. Will the spring was caught on these burgers and bound it up so badly. I had to check the buffer tube to get the bolt back into the receiver. Every time I buy a complete firearm from PSA it turns out to be a piece of crap. They sneak in all the parts that they screwed up on. And even though their customer service is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with. They don't talk to each other and things get massively screwed up. Or they will just completely drop the ball. I may still buy from PSA but I'll never buy complete rifle again.

I love the cool look of it with the curved magazine. Unfortunately the communists at Prohibiting the Second Amendment aka PSA won’t sent my SOT in Connecticut anything even though it is perfectly legal for him to accept and convert to be legal in my state. They won’t even send an AR-15 firing pin to CT. F PSA. Everybody should boycott anti 2A anti freedom companies like PSA.
They are the reason we are facing some of these suppressive laws in the USA.
