It was his faith in himself, I mean after all the events he went through in game it's hard not to believe in God and the supernatural, he just doubted his own ability to fight evil after failing Amy twice and being revealed that he is deeply connected to the evil cult.
That is the sheer power of forgiveness, my friend. Amy forgiving John and even praising him for continuing his quest to exorcise her would give anyone wings. He didn’t have to do it, but he chose to and that gave him the power of the Lord.
That might as well already be Chapter 4 at this point, because most ways if not all, I don't know for sure because I haven't played it, end with Garcia ready to fight demons with a shotgun
This man is terrifying when you realize he's doing this with a terrible limp and he STILL managed to pull off the shit that he did against them all, and he was groomed to be a sacrifice as a kid.
5:14 Amy... My Amy... The Chosen Woman Under All. Together the Moon and The Chalice. Together Mother and Daughter and The Unclean Spirit. MY HOLY TRINITY
I just realized that there's a big difference between the exorcism at the end and the one during the flashback. John isn't reading from Bible here. He's never fully given up on this and has been rereading and memorizing that passage for a year, waiting to finally save Amy
Here, we see a regular priest fighting 2 literal powerful entities that also rule hell. And the fact that Malphas had to intervene, it sees how Father John is a threat to their world ending plan.
As a Christian the line "But I destroyed it with the help of the Lord." always gets me. It's crazy how much emotion is conveyed in the Atari voice. You can hear the relief in John's voice and gratitude he has for God in that moment. Many people would have egotistically been like "Hehe yeah I'm a bad ass demon slayer" but John knows exactly who to thank for the victory.
Well, humility is one of the seven holy virtues and experiencing the greatest form of forgiveness would shake anybody to their core. Amy was hig biggest failure and setting it right would make anyone feel lighter than air. Forgiveness blesses the soul.
In the final fight, getting hit doesn't kill you immediately. God empowers your body through the fight so you can take many hits. Still, John is only mortal. A body of flesh and blood can only channel the might of God for so long before it begins to become overwhelmed. Going into the last fight blind, you're practically guaranteed to be hit at least once. But through God's power you will likely prevail.

When Jon says: "I couldn't saaaaaave you," my eyes suddenly get filled with pollen or something and my nose gets all sniffley. I've never been allergic to a game before, so weird.
For me my random allergy attacks spiked when Amy said: “they can’t hurt me anymore” and “you’ve been so brave”. Kudos to Airdorf for making an amazing game.

In my opinion, If it was for film adaptation, I'd suggest that John would stick with Garcia to hunt demons but asking Lisa to stay with him for protection. I know it's just me bcuz I had weird imaginations.
Just keep away from Gary as far as you can and use the cross on him when you're at a distance. Watch out if he leaps towards you or leaps across the room. But you really have to keep moving and keep going until Gary is down. Also, use those pentagrams to stop Gary at his tracks, but they will also stop you in yours if you're not careful. As for that arrow demon, just avoid his arrows and his jumping leaps. Watch how the arrows travel in spreads, so run between them when you have a wide enough space to dodge them.
"In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengence against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him... the Doom Slayer."
Just imagine a movie or a different game with john and father garcia and with other recruited priest warriors just shooting and shouting "GET SOME!" while mowing down demons and possessed alike

the faith of John rivals the near full powers of hell in this game, John is the moster
In my opinion,
If it was for film adaptation, I'd suggest that John would stick with Garcia to hunt demons but asking Lisa to stay with him for protection.
I know it's just me bcuz I had weird imaginations.
Nah ur good, I really like this idea!
I'll try doing your strat you still put up the cross when gary was dashing
The doomslayer ending aka the correct ending.
5:48 Asian parents when you get A-
I love that the endgame superpower you get is
Not dying in 1 hit. Lol
That's the power of faith

“I am the punishment of God, if you had not commited great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.”
-Genghis Garcia
Moral of the story:
Reject love. Embrace your demon slaying side.

As soon as the fight turned into a bullet hell, I wondered what Hakurei Reimu would do in this situation.
I saw New Blood Interactive, and my first thought was V1 sliding in from nowhere, tossing coins like there's no tomorrow.
no but it made into a children's painting 🙂
“let’s go fight some demons.” is possibly the most badass phrase that has ever been spoken
You know Gary really failed when a demon calls him a literal failure.
Any tips & strategy to defeat gary in this boss fight? I couldn't get past gary & the arrow demon. I just quit after getting killed many times
The "arrow demon" is Malphas, FWIW to you.
DOOM
I'm not gonna sugarcoat it
He didn't sugar coat it lez gooo
0:46 this man got the divine intervention 2 phases early, wild

_"En nomine Patri, et Fili, et Spiritu Sancti..."_
(Finally exorcises Amy and sends her sould to heaven)
_"...amen."_
That was actually so frickin badass.
The fact that she can now regain her full body and mouth to talk about finishing herself
Bro choose to go with Gigachad Father Garcia 🗿
Doomguy goes to the church where John preaches.
That dab up is religiously epic
Dont be afraid...john
I wish they'd come out with another version of this in the style of Castlevania, SplatterHouse, or Sundered.
my friend thought this was undertale💀💀
BRUH FR💀💀
This is one of the best boss fights horror games could offer
Modern artistic depictions in video games wouldn't do the horror justice.
There's something about pixel-y bit-crushed aesthetics that forces the mind to fill in the ghastly blanks in the canvas.
Sometimes, truly, less is more.
Alternate ending: Amy learns to control her demons and becomes a demon-hunting vigilante and doesn't die.
I'm not coping, you're coping
