So your service center is one hour away. I wish. The 3 service centers closest to me are all right at 2 and a half hours away. I bought a 2023 Model 3 last spring and a 2023 Model Y just before Christmas. Both cars have no issues with panel gaps at all. The build quality is very good. And yes I would definitely watch your channel if your Y were purple. I would love to have one myself. Here in Kansas we pay the equivalent of a gas car driven 40,000 miles per year in tax as compared to a gas tax. I drive about 6,000 miles per year. I get ripped off on that front for sure. I am addicted to my Teslas now. I'm not sure I will ever own anything but a Tesla. Great video guys. You earned a sub today.

We are steadily gathering a pretty decent sized memory, bank of impromptu Tesla, supercharger experiences/memories. We have all sorts of fun little memories of different hotel motel, lobbies, and restaurants that we would have never tried if we were not traveling in our Tesla. There are negatives and positives to that, but we choose to see the positive and embrace that method of travel.

Great review. My 21 Model 3 also has 53k miles and is flat out the best car I've ever had. Sold my 1980 911 to buy it after a 3 hour " test" drive (Use to race formula fords as a younger man). The performance just blew me away. The build quality on mine was fine. My only issue with the car is intergration of texting and calling with my iPhone 12. Carplay is so much better on my wife's Chevy. It's only my wife and I now so the Model 3 is perfect. I have no issue with the white seats that to me are very comfortable--slept easily and often on one road trip to Bozeman MT fron our home in VA/DC. After begrudging my purchase, I couldn't get her off the wheel. Have seen most of your videos. You guys do a great job.

Glad to see that you have as many miles as we do, ha! Agree with all of your points (especially those tires, ugh). Luckily, our oldest is driving now, so I don't have to drive all 3 as much. Then charging in my garage at home. We have super low electricity rates overnight in my area and I end up paying three cents per kilowatt hour. So if I were to charge the entire battery it would cost about two dollars. We rarely need to charge that much of the battery though. Plus, like you, we have solar panels on the roof so the actual cost is very close to zero.

I appreciate your thorough review. The advice you give everyone I believe to be spot on and honest which I can't say of others on TH-cam.
I have a couple things to add to what you've provided here. I have a late 2022 Model Y 5 seat in white from Austin. First, the paint problems in white seem to be less susceptible to chipping. I also think the panel gap issue is more a thing of the past based on my car and from others I've spoken to. A lot of your negative observations are related to the 3rd row which I don't have, but I would not be happy if I had purchased it either. I've got 30K miles on my car with the original Continental tires. I expect to at least get 40K out of them. I didn't use chill mode, but saw early on how driving fast from stopping at traffic lights stop signs would eat tires.
I notice you didn't mention any battery degradation. If you have or haven't had significant degradation that would have been useful to others.
I'm also under 15 minutes from the Devon Service Center. Just curious, did you film this at Lake Galena? The lake looks very familiar. BTW, purple would rock. I saw one online that was metallic purple and gold. It was sweet.
Things Tesla should do: 1) you are spot on: a gauge to show you how much washer fluid is left. 2) Improve the HVAC to be stronger. 3) Have a heater on the drivers side door handle for frozen weather events. 4) Raise the vented windows if it starts to rain.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

I test drove the Ariya and quite liked it. It has a lot going for it, but for the price I’m probably going for something else. I have a 2022 end of year but still have the sensors. I will say build quality in the latter year 2022, 2023 and 2024 out of Austin are much, much better. I was also in time for the upgraded suspension. So latter year 22, 23 and 24 have that.
Tesla does have the best charging network. Hopefully them opening up to non Tesla vehicles will take the headache and range anxiety away from those owners. I'm still enjoying mine a little over a year later and it is my road trip vehicle. I haven't driven my gas car in months. The wife works from home primarily and uses that car to run errands and it's her commuter car when she need to go into the office a couple times a week.
For the climate, I'm here in Virginia so just south of you. We don't always get as cold as you but one of the things hat help me since I park outside is using my car cover. I simply throw that on the day before and any ice build up or snow isn't an issue since it's all on the cover I then pull off of the car. Now the have it where you can open the door on the driver's side when it's cold and the handle might be frozen over.
My state is definitely charging way to much for registration. They simply access my gas gar but don't know that we rarely drive it so I'm not going to the gas station like I used to before I bought an EV. I also work locally so I'm not even on the roads long enough to be have any sort of impact yet I pay 4 to 5 times more in registration fees than I do my gas car.

You were mentioning about the tires and how fast they wear because of the weight of the car. Your wife mentioned that she has changed the Tesla’s driving mode to “Chill” and feels that will make the difference. I believe she’s right. There’s another Tesla YTuber JGEEPS who has a Model Y and a Porsche Macan ICE car. He posted a FB video titled “10 Simple Tesla Maintenance Steps for Increased Efficiency” where he mentioned in the video that his Model Y and Macan both weigh the same. JGEEPS claimed that if you change the Model Y’s driving mode to chill owners should get “normal” amount of wear out of their tires. He does.

I have a 2019 M3 long range, its 4.5 years old and has almost 70k miles on it, I have had zero problems with it and do not plan on getting rid of it at this point. I paid $6k for FSD which was kind of a waste so far but hopefully it will be worth it in a year or so. I almost traded it in on a new Y but they low balled the crap out of me to the point I would have really paid for FSD even though they said it was a free transfer because they offered me at least $12k less then the car is actually worth. I figure from what they are selling similar used M3s on their website for which is around $30k give or take and they offered me $17.5k for mine. I was like no thank you! No way in hell I would sell it for $17k.

Interestingly, they never directly answered the question posed in the title of the video about whether they would buy the Tesla Model Y again after 3 years and 60,000 miles. From the discussion, it's clear they had a positive experience with the car, discussing its benefits and occasional challenges. It's a bit puzzling why they wouldn't provide a clear yes or no to the very question that draws viewers in. Maybe they realized they hadn't addressed it after the video was already made. Leaves you wondering!

I own 2 Teslas at present. I can confirm it’s false economy owning a Tesla or expensive electric car, unless for the novelty. When you compare the gain in maintenance, fuel etc. The buying price high and insurance is still huge compared to ice vehicles of the same value, and the residual value is unbelievable high, especially now that there are many Tesla’s on the road. Get yours valued now you will be surprised as to what you get quoted for your next video. I was honestly considering selling but due to the bad residual value , I have lost all my equity/35%capital cash that I initially put down when we purchased in September 2022 and if I sell now I can’t even pay off my finance, that’s how bad the valuation is. I have never lost so much on any vehicle ever, all equity’s gone. Let’s be honest.

I find that road trips tend to be about 25% longer with the Tesla… But I would never ever ever go back to a gasoline car. It might take a little counterintuitive, but there are so many other benefits to driving the Tesla that I will gladly take slightly longer road tripping when I arrive at my destination, much less stressed and the ride is much more pleasant. As one example, we have four children in our family, and as any parent of multiple children will know that on a road trip when one child says they have to pee they all say they have to pee and sometimes that can get tiresome. but with the Tesla supercharger network being pretty good, we know we’re going to stop every couple of hours while driving anyhow so the children have passively learned that they don’t have to announce that they need to go to the bathroom because one, they don’t have to go to the bathroom because we just stopped within the last hour or so and two, they know that we’re going to be stopping in not that much time because we have to stop to charge. This is one small detail that makes road tripping much better as a family in the Tesla. Even if you are single, or your kids are older, and they can hold their bladders for several hours, nobody actually likes to be uncomfortable and be the first person to say that they have to go to the bathroom on a road trip but with the Tesla there is no overhang, P guilt because everybody knows they’re going to have to stop every couple hours regardless. Interesting how some people perceive as a negative can actually become a positive trait.
