Dude if you were trying to handle like 4 companies all at once you’d need 72h per day lmao, like even if he does half the work he claims he does, that is still absurd to do in an hour
@@xcuna well that depends on what you want to be like, a genius who is doing multiple projects to change the world in a major way, or just try to be above average and get a good decent job making TH-cam videos, (spoilers, you can’t have a lot of free time in the former) Also of course that was his choice, but also that is what he needed to do to get what he wanted
I kind of worked more than 20 hours coding straight , non stop , no food , no sleep .. But the work must be very interesting .. No joke .. I really did that
I mean I think this is a good approach for a stable source of background income like TH-cam. But if you have a passion for specific crafts like software, music, art, writing etc, 1-2 hours is not gonna cut it. You need to reach at least that 4 hour mark, and then you may need to go over to 8 or even more hours with the hours after the first 4 being suboptimal just to get the project done. That's worth doing if it's a passion (not worth doing for a 9-5), but should not come at the cost of excercise and sleep. It's like a drop set imo. Work hard for 4 hours. Take a break. Then work more shallowly for another 4.
Id like to see if someone is actually doing 4 hours of deep practice/work with any art form or software dev etc. i find that very hard to believe…the principle of 1-4 hours of deep work applies across the board. The brain simply doesn’t have the capacity for more unless quality falls off
@@dna8269 It really doesn't apply across the board. Have you ever tried to make an app/game/large painting??? It takes 100s of hours just to make one. You can't do it in 1-2 hours a day. Maybe not every hour you work will be deep work, but that's fine. If you're painting it's perfectly reasonable to sometimes be working shallowly. You can listen to podcasts while you do easier bits. With music, it speaks to our human nature through rhythm - it's super easy to get in a flow-state with that. with programming, its harder, you simply have to keep going and try to take enough breaks to not burn out. You have to put in the hours. its non negotiable. Unless you want to create one feature a year. Show me one person who is even half decent, let alone successful in any of those fields without doing more than 4 hours a day. 4 hours is a minimum for these sorts of things. If you can focus for 4 hours on video games without even noticing, you can focus for 4 hours on getting completely lost in a passion project. As I said - nobody can focus that long on work that is just to survive like a shit 9-5. But on a passion project? If you can't focus for 4 hours but you can on video games, youre a sperg mate who has no passions. I've been there, just sort of depressed and not giving enough of a shit about anything, but its something you can work on. Nobody just sits down and plays video games for 1 hour, as Hamza says. Why? Because they like them man. Imo, the ideal is to have 1-2 hours a day where you work on basic income, and 4 hours a day where you work on a real passion project that can give you more income but takes longer. If you're not playing video games, what are you gonna do with that time anyway? If you say you have 15 hours in a day. That's gonna take up 6-7, then you spend another 2 on fitness, that's like a normal 8 hour day. you still have 7 more hours for other wellness and social activities, knowing that you are fully fulfilled by chasing bag, chasing passions and chasing your physique already. no worries in your head. most people work 8 hours for basic income, and then have to spend that 7 choosing between eating, going to the gym, socialising or wellness/rest.
Amazing video, thank you. I have reached point in my life where I feel like I have a great, solid amount of knowledge on how to improve myself, but this video taught me even more. Iam very grateful for you and this video. Time to put this into practice and take this advice seriously.
I have been on self improvement for about 3-4 years, however I have only started implementing the things that I have learnt after 1-2 years of just watching videos. I also have so much knowledge on self-improvement but this video was truly helpful and taught me a lot. I responded to this comment because I felt that I resonated so well with the current position that I am in.
Lol my friends be telling me they spend 10 hours studying at the library when I know damn well they spend the majority of that time being distracted or talking about something that has nothing to do with what they gotta study
As a music producer, I spend something like 1-3 hours every day producing, watching videos to learn, uploading these beats to TH-cam and listing them online, and I’ve been doing this practically every day for the last 1-2 years, you say to only do the deep work and in this scenario the producing is the deep work but all the extra stuff is imperative to make it as a producer so does that make me one of the 3-4 hour experts or am I doing too much or too little
Hamza is being a bit of an idiot here and only considering his own profession. He makes mony through youtube etc as a form of income - he is not passionate about cinematography/video editing/acting/etc. So he spends 1/2 hours because its just his income. If you actually want to get good at a skill you're passionate about, none of his bullshit applies. You need to be able to focus for at least 4 hours and its not even that damn hard if you actually have passion. And you need to be able do more work even when you're not 100% focused when you need to. Think of it like a drop set - 4 hours of focus, 2 hours of shallow work but it builds on what you did while focused.
Outsourcing everything is a great idea, but there’s a certain point where you’ll run out of money. If I have a landscaper, personal assistant, chef, house maid, etc. that’s gonna cost a fortune. Is there a certain way to build up and outsource tasks gradually so you don’t go broke? I’d think it’d be best to start with basic stuff like lawn mowing
Having a minimalist mindset takes care of having a clean house (since the less stuff you have, the less you have to clean). Unless you're growing a fucking jungle on your front lawn, you can pay your next door neighbor's kid or someone to do it for you for like $30 or less depending on how big it is. For food, having microwavable bag of veggies is a time-saver (though I prefer to cook them) and spending an hour to cook chicken and having a rice cooker also saves time. Fortunately for myself, I can eat the same thing for long periods of time and never get tired of it. Again, you don't have to outsource most things in your life if you adopt a minimalist mindset and learn time management. Unless you're Elon Musk and you're running 5 different companies or you're Bill Gates and you're a busy guy, I don't think you have to worry about hiring people for every part of your life.
I work in project management and after a new hire engineer has been with us for 3-6 months I ask them the question “in your 8-10 day, how much of it are you actually working?” And they always say 8-10 hours. Then I show them the field workers and we sit and watch them say “ look those guys are out here 10 hours a day working with their bodies and they work maybe 6-7 hours actually working, do you think you work more than them?” Then I tell them “I work 2-3 hours a day. I’m in the office 8 hours but working? No I’m fucking around talking to people or dicking around on my phone. If any task takes you longer than 30 minutes, let’s get together and figure out what’s taking you because our job is not that hard.
I’d like to hear your thoughts with jobs like construction. Or any job that requires a lot of labor. Ik you said stay off your phone and be productive. What’s next though. Keep working harder? Find more ways to be more productive in each hour?
How much to be mentored by you an hour a week for 6 months? I’m 24, and i started personal development 2 years ago. I went through a divorce that left me depressed the last year. You have woken me up to how much time I’ve wasted because your 24 and you’ve made it way further. I don’t want to be weak anymore, and you seem to talk only to the men on your channels. @@SquierMarr I think Hamza's point is that after 60-90 mins you will be less efficient with your work if you don't take a break. This means that you are more likely to make mistakes and the work is less likely to be of a high quality than if you do take a break as your brain is overloaded with information so it can seem overwhelming for a lot of people. Yes some people can still work after 90 mins at a acceptable level however taking breaks imo is very good for the long term. Hamza's message is basically quality > quantity
The way I see it, if you aren't time tracking, you don't really know how much you are actually working. Punching in at 9 and leaving at 5 is 8 hours, but how much of it were they working? I think people overexaggerate how much they work per day and week.

@@SorenReaper7339 Point was, he's an example of what u don't wanna end up like
@@xcuna well that depends on what you want to be like, a genius who is doing multiple projects to change the world in a major way, or just try to be above average and get a good decent job making TH-cam videos, (spoilers, you can’t have a lot of free time in the former)
Also of course that was his choice, but also that is what he needed to do to get what he wanted
watching self improvement videos is a form of shallow work
or just a distraction from the deep work
Its not work at all
It’s entertainment lol
This videos make people like me productive 😂
And you be busy on por hub 🤣📌
love this type of video
This is really helpful. Thanks Hamza Bro
This is a value bomb. Thanks Hamza
I kind of worked more than 20 hours coding straight , non stop , no food , no sleep ..
But the work must be very interesting ..
No joke ..
I really did that
Going part time soon AND my salary isn't changing. Fucking stoked and glad I asked.
@@SquierMarr Do you have a passion that you pursue?
This just opened my eyes. I will be mindful about this in the future.
This is right on time for me.
also, "crumbs of coochie" was the comedic relief I needed this morning. Thanks lol
I try to preserve my mental power at 9-5 and do 1 hour of deep work on my copywriting gig.
thank you so much for permenately impacting my life for the better
Yo thanks for the hard work Hamza and thanks for this new unfiltered channel too
Lol my friends be telling me they spend 10 hours studying at the library when I know damn well they spend the majority of that time being distracted or talking about something that has nothing to do with what they gotta study
2:27 is so meaningful to me
I don’t think you understand how obsessed I am with your content…
If anyone is doing 8 hours of work for as long as they said they do they would be a millionaire
I’m grateful for this video
Great content!!!
Thanks Hamza
Excellent! Good speaker.
Beautiful video. Did my first official video today, thank you Hamza.
Half of the time I spend in school we are just sitting around done with work
Watching this after finishing work at 1am lol. Deadlines be deadlines.
Great video, now i can be efficiently lazy
The concept your talking about is like the "One Thing" book by Gary Keller.
Great book guys give it a try.
I do 12 hours of deep work an hour
im so happy that i wanna cry
I work in project management and after a new hire engineer has been with us for 3-6 months I ask them the question “in your 8-10 day, how much of it are you actually working?” And they always say 8-10 hours. Then I show them the field workers and we sit and watch them say “ look those guys are out here 10 hours a day working with their bodies and they work maybe 6-7 hours actually working, do you think you work more than them?”
Then I tell them “I work 2-3 hours a day.
The woman channels aren’t as blunt, raw, and real. Your really motivating. If you have any suggestions on women channels like this, that would be great also. Thanks in advance.
you need to update the description
I don't think the university example applies to subjects like medicine, law, engineering etc....
When talking about how many hours deep work someone can do, is that in a row or total in a day?
in a day. After around 60-90 mins of deep work you must take a break or you're clearly not doing deep work like those cringe videos hOW i StUDY fOR 6 hOUrs wIThouT A BreAK
@@hamzaunfiltered In the average day yes, but I have frequently entered that absolute zen mode where I learned an insane amount or made weeks of progress in only 6 hours
@@shivinpokemon its 100% possible to do that if you're working on a passion project not just a business to make money. hamza doesn't know cos he's not super passionately into specific arts like art, music, programming etc where people do that shit all the time. he just wants to make his income as passive as possible, and he forgets that some people just like doing what they do lol.
THERE’S A SECOND CHANNEL?!!!! WTF!
DUDE! You need to tell people more in your videos!
I can do about 15 mins of deepwork until I go poopoo brain and start chasing the squirrels in my backyard with a ukelele.
dude i got scared because i thought it said workout instead of work and thought i was working out too little time
In Colombia is 6 years of College 🥺
Very right.
Let’s say everyone in the world does this “deep work”, what would the world look like ? Thoughts ?
A utopia
nice hoodie
Great video
The way I see it, if you aren't time tracking, you don't really know how much you are actually working. Punching in at 9 and leaving at 5 is 8 hours, but how much of it were they working? I think people overexaggerate how much they work per day and week.
I read deep work
Great book
Life changing
Work smart, not hard
How do you practice to do more deep work?
I am distracted by the marble on your head hamza
kharma medic works for 12 hrs with breaks straight
There’s no way that normal people can do that not everyone gets lucky and gets rich like this guy I swear these rich people always talk down to the less fortunate
Abi whats up nice work you doing for us young fellas! One Question: Do you know how to Structure a Plan for uni so that studying seems easy?
I know someone here can help me out, Besides doing my hw and going to class, I still am required to study to pass my finials. I was told to spend 20+ hrs on this one class to pass this class and do well on the exam. I was wondering if I still can apply this videos logic for studying for one of my class. IMO this class has taken up most of my weeks work, I still go to the gym and read and eat but this class literally I be spending more time on than any other ones I have rn. I spend around 20hr a week on studying, class and hw all togethor.
This is just a suggestion but it could be cool if you made a discord for this channel because, the main server is just a jeffery paridise and trying to get value or help people is just meaningless now, in my opinion at least. Also the start is really Value (1:00)
What about construction workers, doctors, teachers
none of them do continous deep work, in them your attnetion is constantly diverted, you have breaks etc.
Zyzz reincarnated 👌🏼
Wait did Hamza say you can smoke? 🫣
Adonis does not care to be first
Does this apply to non office jobs eg Warehouse jobs so lets say you do 11 hour shift you are only productive and efficient for 1-2 hrs that you are working?
Do you take breaks, or work 2 hours straight?
Even Jordan Peterson said he could write and do intense research for 3 hours a day. Then quality of work falls drastically.
Are you talking about 4 hours of deep work in one sitting or 4 hours of deep work split throughout the day?
I think he said you should do 3 to 4 hours of work in a day in 60-90 minute blocks.
A lot of this seems reasonable but i rly doubt the 1 hour thing. Could get absolutely nothing done if that were the case
Online research says it's usually 2 hrs and 50min where people put most of their brain power into an activity, after that, you sorta lose steam, I noticed I'm like that, I can work hard and stay focused for 3hrs straight, after that, I sorta run on steam, lose interest, or do the bare minimum.
@@doggpound9319 probably the same for me. If i only had 1 hour i could never get my studies done. Do like 5-8 hours a day, but only the first 2ish are good quality.
You do the hour work , rest a bit and then work again , pomodoro style
Hamza, is learning music deep work too?
can confirm
What is out there, instead of youtube, that allows you to work less but earn more?
Kind regards
In work for 8 hours a day
Holy fucking shit
Jeffery works 16 hours a day.
Adonis works 2.
But only the Legends don't work at all...
The One who doesn't work is the someone as the one who can't work.
so if i work remotely, (i work in tech/design for an ad agency) i should really only work 9-11?
