This is very valuable imo, I've always seen a routine as something rigid, something you have to perfectly follow or fail. So of course, if I know that I won't always be able to follow the routine, I'm not going to set one up. I'm not trying to set myself up for failure. I'm trying to set myself up for success. So I will reframe in my mind that a routine is something you strive for, and even doing 1% of the routine is an accomplishment, cuz it's still better than dicking around.
Of course even the smallest bit of progress is good but you should also be content with the results and wait for yourself to progress and not to be dissatisfied with the results. A small step might carry a small result, but it also carries bigger steps with itself.

you should read dicipline equals freedom and essentialism. They both illustrate how limitations on a system level meaning how you structure you life allows freedom within the given hierarchy. If a game/sport had no rules you cannot learn anything. It is within the limits of a game set by the rules you can learn and become a master. Think of jujitsu. There are only so many moves you can do. When you start you learn the basics; you limit the amount of moves down to a few basics. The more complex you become the more complex system you can exist within. Untill you become a master within your domain. Chose one goal or one over arching goal and then reverse engineer. If you get good at limiting what you can do you can move extremely fast toward goals.

Just realized, this is a concept my Dad used to try drill into me and my siblings when we would be younger and on holiday my argument would always be, "I wanna have fun I wanna play PS and watch TH-cam and go outside". Watching this video and thinking in hindsight I would be much better off had I taken his advice I would be able to work consistently with no breaks and in a cycle of deep work. It's amazing how every lesson cycles back and you learn more from the same lesson every single time.

For example your gym timing is 4 to 6pm so no matter what once you show up you hit the workouts and don't think of anything else, similarly in other areas of life this rock-solid routine will simply not ALLOW you to get distracted because that's how you've wired your brain, it takes a few weeks to rewire your brain but it's so so effective.
I can attest to the fact that if you fall asleep later than usual bedtime. It is better to just get up when you usually do because waking up later starts a domino effect where you can’t catch-up and you end feeling like you wasted half of your day. Also, maybe its just me but I always feel cloudy and slower when I sleep in.
Commenting this before watching: I totally have experienced having a routine that started working for me, but I had fallen off of it after two weeks, and dam does that shit really affect you. My reason was partly because of another person too, which is crazy how another person that you like sparks random motivation that you never thought you had come to light and you start doing shit that you would’ve never had done before. But that was my mistake. I was partly doing this stuff I was doing for another person, as much as my ego would like to say it was for me, once stuff started to go downhill in the relationship, so did my routine. I can't say how much I agree with prioritizing routine over sleep. I have chosen to wake up later before because I was sleep-deprived and I justified with "it would affect my workout" (which it will as I power lift) but I realised that my workout will be affected anyways because I am trying to "get back" into the routine which affected the quality of the entire day. Or even worst, I may skip the workout all together as I have other tasks with higher priority. This is coming from someone who has gymed for more than 5 years consistently...
Damn bro this really a game changer for me! I'm relatively desciplined, on nofap, dopamine detox, etc... But I sometimes lose sleep due to my main job which requires me to do overtime when it gets busy. On some days i go to sleep at like 12:00am instead of my usual 8:30pm. And just like you said i fell into the trap of "ohh sleep is soo important" and I;ll get the 7-8 hrs of sleep and wake up much later and just like you said it makes it throws my whole schdule off and gym has been taking a toll. Waking up at the same time everyday really helps, when I woke up bit late I was out of my routine for a whole day, only did things when I felt like it. But after starting to wake up at the same time no matter what, things really changed, I always did the routine evenn if I was sleep deprived.
Those two books are also the same ones I found so world changing. I also recommend them to people. I'm still at stage 1 trying to get organised and off my arse and get at it.

Do I prioritize work over social life or does it heavily depend what “social life” is for me and what benefits I get from hanging out with my friends as an example. As far as I underdtand the focus is on social SKILLS, not social life. Talking to strangers etc. Is important to Level the skills up. I also don't think that everyone should go the same route. It might be good for you to work deeply for several weeks, but for others it's important to be around good friends. Your circle also plays a huge role. If they are meeting to improve thats way better than if they hang out to drink etc. Use your own perspective and read "deep work", it's an excellent book on these Personal Box type of strategies

For example your gym timing is 4 to 6pm so no matter what once you show up you hit the workouts and don't think of anything else, similarly in other areas of life this rock-solid routine will simply not ALLOW you to get distracted because that's how you've wired your brain, it takes a few weeks to rewire your brain but it's so so effective.

I can attest to the fact that if you fall asleep later than usual bedtime. It is better to just get up when you usually do because waking up later starts a domino effect where you can’t catch-up and you end feeling like you wasted half of your day. Also, maybe its just me but I always feel cloudy and slower when I sleep in.

Commenting this before watching: I totally have experienced having a routine that started working for me, but I had fallen off of it after two weeks, and dam does that shit really affect you. My reason was partly because of another person too, which is crazy how another person that you like sparks random motivation that you never thought you had come to light and you start doing shit that you would’ve never had done before. But that was my mistake. I was partly doing this stuff I was doing for another person, as much as my ego would like to say it was for me, once stuff started to go downhill in the relationship, so did my routine. Having a routine is vital, as long as your vision is focused mainly on yourself without no one else to interrupt it.

I can't say how much I agree with prioritizing routine over sleep. I have chosen to wake up later before because I was sleep-deprived and I justified with "it would affect my workout" (which it will as I power lift) but I realised that my workout will be affected anyways because I am trying to "get back" into the routine which affected the quality of the entire day. Or even worst, I may skip the workout all together as I have other tasks with higher priority. This is coming from someone who has gymed for more than 5 years consistently...
Damn bro this really a game changer for me! I'm relatively desciplined, on nofap, dopamine detox, etc... But I sometimes lose sleep due to my main job which requires me to do overtime when it gets busy. On some days i go to sleep at like 12:00am instead of my usual 8:30pm. And just like you said i fell into the trap of "ohh sleep is soo important" and I;ll get the 7-8 hrs of sleep and wake up much later and just like you said it makes it throws my whole schdule off and gym has been taking a toll. Thanks so much for getting me back on track! I love you man!

Waking up at the same time everyday really helps, when I woke up bit late I was out of my routine for a whole day, only did things when I felt like it. But after starting to wake up at the same time no matter what, things really changed, I always did the routine evenn if I was sleep deprived.

Hey Hamza, you mentioned in this video that you were in your “personal box” where you were productive for weeks on end and sacrificed your social life for results (oversimplified, correct me if I’m wrong) and you also mentioned in several of your past videos that social skills is something that I HAVE to improve, this left me quite confused.
Do I prioritize work over social life or does it heavily depend what “social life” is for me and what benefits I get from hanging out with my friends as an example.

As far as I underdtand the focus is on social SKILLS, not social life. Talking to strangers etc. Is important to Level the skills up.
I also don't think that everyone should go the same route. It might be good for you to work deeply for several weeks, but for others it's important to be around good friends.
Your circle also plays a huge role. If they are meeting to improve thats way better than if they hang out to drink etc.
Use your own perspective and read "deep work", it's an excellent book on these Personal Box type of strategies
