@That Gay Guy EVO did a track test at Anglesey circuit and Ford GT was even almost a second slower than AMG GT R and over 2 seconds slower than the GT2RS, so I hardly doubt it's the McLaren that would get its ass whopped.

Hennessey Performance How did the 600lt compare to the Ford GT? Seeing as the 720s is more road biased & the LT & GT are more track focused? I think straight line the LT wins but what about the feel of the two?

720S is probably the most dominating supercar we've had in the last 5 years! It's an incredible beast beating cars sometimes twice its price! Absolutely CRUSHED IT HERE!

Ford GT is hyped up a lot and INSANELY overpriced, if you want some badass drag cars, look at Dodge or hennesey or... Even Chevy. Ford GT makes less than 600 hp, and yes it have good everything else but it is simply not worth $500k. I really don't get it, I understand it's a great looking car and it has aero and all that, but it's extremely underpowered. If your looking for something to blow your mind, Dodge Challenger srt demon, and the Dodge viper ACR are where you need to look.
@@circuitdude5924 underpowered? It's a v6. Also, it makes 647hp. The GT must be worth 500k since they're all sold and have been sold for even more than that since. Plus they won't lose there value. I've seen boosted coyote mustangs run 9's with stock drivetrain, demons aren't special.
@@elijah9907 Your kidding right, if you think stock drivetrain matters, then look at the hennesey demon hpe1200, runs 8s, all they did was sup up the engine and put a better supercharger on, and I bet you it's cheaper than that mustang build. And if your including nonproduction cars, 9s are trash, engine swapped integras run 6s and 7s constantly. And yes, it makes than 600 whp, which if you want in a track car, you can get a viper ACR, or a Corvette zr1, both in low $100ks, and both make more than 600 (viper is high 600's, Vette is mid 700's) and both are more than capable on a track, they beat gt's all the time, for 1/4 the price, and they still look incredible, and they sound a lot better than a GT. For $500k, you can get a 720s, 4 viper acrs, 4 zr1s, 6 demons, 9 hellcats, an nsx, 5 gtr r35s, 3 nismo gtr r35s, a build with easily over 3000 hp, or one Ford GT. A lot of those add up to less than $500k, so you would have left over money. Ford GT is an overhyped, overpriced, overcomplicated, track toy.

@@elijah9907 Same with BMW m4 gts's, they gain value and make around same horses as the gt, and are extremely compatible cars, and the m4 gt's sounds better has more down force, and is extremely luxurious and has great visibility, while the GT sounds terrible and is not on the same level of luxury or visibility. Also, none of those can beat a demon, if both cars have good drivers, demon will win in a 1/4 mile except against a very few cars. On a track, a viper acr would whoop a gt's ass to hell and back and costs a lot less, and is also a collectable car.

IScream yes they do have history they are the second most successful f1 team ever next to ferrari but they've had no were near as many seasons and they have a higher win rate per season.
@@iscream4253 No. The price tag is that high because they can get away with it thanks to collectors inflating the prices of the old GT to silly levels. That means speculators will buy this at whatever it costs regardless of if it's actually any good because they're highly unlikely to ever drive it more than a few miles here and there - a lot won't get driven at all.
McLaren aren't pulling that trick because they don't consider this to be one of their higher level cars. The P1 and whatever will follow are their equivalent to a GT - limited run, high price.
This is their equivalent to a Focus RS or top end Mustang. To them it's just a high trim (power) version of their normal cars and is full production.
As for history you might want to look up a little about McLaren. Ford have a few LeMans wins with the original GT which kickstarted it all (actually a car designed and built in England - based on a Lola chassis) but nothing with the last GT and this one only got it's win in one of the weakest fields for decades.
McLaren have had more GP podiums than hot dinners and also had a class win at LeMans back in 1995 with a real road car rather than a car designed for trophy hunting in the first place.
Half a million-dollar Ford GT with far less production units and a cheap Ford Fiesta interior completely destroyed by far cheaper much higher quality McLaren. Very sad

No? Considering the le mans ford gt shares the same engine and platform as the road car, I think that says enough. The Mclaren would no doubt, I have my doubts on the Ford GT. Most people forget the Viper ACR holds the American made production car record on the Nürburgring track. All the Ecoboost lovers were in denial when that happened.

Also yes - an hour which is what a P100D can take to warm before full ludicrous is available. Presumably a car with a much larger thermal mass (battery) can't take less time?
We'll see in time but for now it's like the $35k model 3 - it still doesn't exist.
Just remember a lot can happen in the few years difference between when Elon says something is coming and when it finally turns up - usually in a watered down state.
For instance there are plenty of makers who could easily bring an ev supercar to market by then and a few that are already in the wings - Rimac, etc.
Had the model 3 actually hit the 2016 and $35k targets it would have had very little competition. As it stands it costs most of an i-pace and ignoring performance figures it's nowhere near the car (sit in both for more than a few minutes and it's fairly obvious which one is both nicer and better put together - considering Jag's reputation that's not saying much for the Tesla). It's also not a Leaf/etc competitor since it's price throws it way past that market and every few months at the moment someone else is launching an ev which is either cheaper or better. Certainly if you value build quality over straight line performance numbers there are quite a few better options.
So yes - the roadster - sounds great but so does so much from Musk.
I love me some 720S but truth be told, they both look amazing and I love them both.

I still don't get it why they keep making sport cars with all that horse power if most of them are well kept. ( for value purposes ) .
Moses James first of all, those lap times are from multiple tracks, second of all, I’ve never heard a journalist claim that the Ford GT is faster than the 720s around race tracks, and third, all of those laps are from time attack. THOSE lap times are the evidence that’s right in front of us, as they’re the only places where the two have been lapped at the same track. It’s true that they most likely weren’t raced by professional drivers, but there is absolutely no evidence proving that the Ford is a faster track car, especially when you consider that despite all of the development and corners cut for weight savings, it’s still heavier than the Mclaren.
Moses James saying that the Ford GT would be a faster track car for no other reason than its aero isn’t much evidence either. And to make it clear, I also think the Ford is a cool car, but I also think it’s track performance questionable. An owner was going to let Motor Trend take his car to Laguna Seca with a professional driver, but Ford pulled the car 2 weeks before it was supposed to happen, and they didn’t allow Motor Trend to state the reason why. There’s no real evidence for the Ford being faster either.
Wonder how these compare on a track?
Motortrend tested an 833 horse viper back in 02' and it's numbers were a 2.43 0-60, and a best qt of 9.99. I wonder how that would fair against the Mclaren?
That Viper wasn't setup for drag racing. The 720s with it's active suspension would win..but only by a fender.
