    very very helpful.
    Heads up Tip.. the cable ties will probably rot away eventually and float around in your tank as bits and particles. maybe try using an oversized metal clamp and tighten around the bracket and pump instead, your fuel injectors and cylinders will thank you😁

    This was my way : I installed the new pump and remove the fuel filter but left the filter case so everything looks stock , the rest I did it as you did show in the video . Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for the video , my 05 forester with 260k just give up on me today
    Relay working good , the idea of a inner fuel filter I didn’t like it , This option with an outside filter is perfect 👌 , I just got the fuel pump the filter is coming tomorrow.
    Thanks again.

    Great video! I can't wait to do this on my "05 Baja turbo. I really hate not being able to change my fuel filter regularly and for trouble shooting.

    Great idea! I might do this with my ‘05 Outback XT

    Nice. Always wondered why they didn't just keep the damn pre-05 setup. So much easier to maintain.

      I think it was primarily to remove a maintenance item and reduce "cost of ownership" to make it more competitive with other vehicle offerings. Stupid move though that inconveniences long term owners.

      @@neoshi3796 Yep! I def think the conversion to the old style filter is the way to go. The even newer style assemblies with the plastic filter that surround the pump are even worse and can be crazy expensive or hard to get an aftermarket replacement for.

      @802Garage are you saying the 04 and older don't have the weird in tank filter the guy deleted in the video?

    There are some mistakes, the hose used in tank has to be submersible, meaning it has to meet SAE 30R10 standard. And a submersible hose should not be used in an exposed environment too.

    I'm fixin to drop the tank on my dodge. The filter and pressure regulator are both on the pump. Hmmm

    @lawrencecavens5760 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Fuel injection hose is one thing but here is probably where you didn't do your research is - you need submersible fuel line as there is two kinds of fuel hoses. that hose might deteriorate on the outside ...

    very good tutorial. my question is, why do you have to eliminate the filter completely?

    • @JRobling
      @JRobling  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't. I relocated it to the front of the car. The fuel is still passing through the filter before it gets to the engine

    not a bad idea i just get stuck on the filter because my 07 impreza 2.5i have another line attach to the filter.. so the filter need to stay there i guess

    Unplug the file pump and run the car! Now you can remove the lines with minimal spilling!!

    Cool, good info and run through, but your tank fuel filter lasted you at least 150k (likely would have lasted longer) you could have just replaced it, ran 300k+ and worried about it then if the rig is still alive? Not sure if it’s an upgrade or not really, but glad you are into your rig and uploaded a video on her.👌🏻

    • @JRobling
      @JRobling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct, I could have gone longer, but making sure it is clean on a regular basis is important to me, plus once the upgrades are done and I start pushing it hard offroad or on the tract it becomes even more important

      @@JRobling hey mate ive got a 2009 bl subaru liberty well you guys call them legacy so my car has that internal filter aswell and I was actually just thinking to my self I wonder If I can just make it nice and simple and go back to how they used too.. in the engine bay so I googled to see if people do it and you popped up so im so glad you had done it because now I can ask a few questions...did your car loose fuel pressure or did it eliminate the hesitation that comes with a nasty dirty filter ?? We thats if it was hesitating In the first place .. and have you felt any differences or can you tell me any problems that you come across after you made the swap to the engine bay and do you recommend it ?? Thanks for your time brother take care stay Safe hope to hear from you soon

    Can you tell me is there a huge difference between the fuel pumps that are $20 and the $99 one that you used? I have the same year car the same amount of miles and we need to replace the fuel pump. And I see several for 20 and $30 on Amazon including the one that you got which I think is about 100? And several say they includes the installation kit? Is that necessary?

    • @JRobling
      @JRobling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn't need to upgrade, I really didn't need to either, but while I was in there I said might as well. All you need for an upgrade is a pump that has a higher lpm fuel rate.
