Gandelsman's interpretation of this Chaconne is spectacular. One of the best I've heard, better than many more popular recordings. It has life and fire.

If I knew enough about dance I'd say something intelligent, but I can say I admire anyone who can choreograph something to the Chaconne, and who saw the possibilities, and probably loved the piece. I've been listening to it for over fifty years and even learned most on guitar as a poor amateur - Started with Narcisso Ypes' recording. It never gets old. Obviously, after dating myself, I should mention how much I admire the strength of the dancers - Must be nice to be young ... and talented, dedicated. Thanks for the video. It's inspiring.

There is simply a symbiosis to imagine between dance and this Chaconne from Bach: so much emotion to express in this music…

Wonderful! And what courage Limon had, to converse this way with The Master. A power-filled interpretation by this excellent violinist of the famous Chaconne; the tones are very rich (and I'm on my laptop!)...Company dancing beautifully, nobly honoring the 2 Masters - in measured clarity, firmly speaking pure Limon .

Ah the infamous upbow on my chaconne. I tell people all the time, always down bow first.

Beautiful. The chaconne is intended as dance music. Did anyone else notice that the d major section is gone? Loved it anyhow.

Love this! Though it is a pity that so much of the dancers' performance is cut out of the frame. But perhaps this was intentional? Is this performance available to purchase in a different format?

that's beautiful! but also... when filming a dance, please actually show the dancers' bodies! you can't actually SEE the dance for all the close-ups... *sigh*

how about a real chaconne as danced in the period, this is modern dance

The dancing is a bit too genteel vs the music's profound emotional content, imho

Just imagine a choreographer creating a dance group with a technique that usually is off center while concentrating on breathing workouts in 1942. The kinetics is limited to the physic of the general body types of that era?

Chaconne is specific gender form of music which is feminine. For women..... And Passacaglia for men
Both are the same, just the characters
This Chaconne by J. S. Bach is an imagery of his wife Barbara Bach who was just passed away. Bach was in sorrow so he wrote this Chaconne to remembering memories with his first wife... (Beauty images of his wife + Sorrow = This Chaconne)
This Chaconne should be danced by only one woman instead a group of mixed people.
