Actually Europe is the same as ever.
Classical music in the past was meant to be enjoyed by the select few, not the mass. It's exactly the same nowadays. Not everyone is capable to enjoy 15 minutes of music, even the most beautiful, just like not everyone is capable of sitting through a 4 hours epic movie.

    • @agnosticii
      @agnosticii 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@peteroreilly8060 wtf is "pure music and art"? All of it is derivative of something else, and is largely subjective to the eye/ear of the beholder. Also, it's pretty shallow and ignorant to dismissively generalize per generational divides, as I and many people I know - who are part of those "two generations" you're so dismissive about - are well familiar with this music and appreciate it as much as anyone else.

    A few notes:
    1. He's not overdoing vibrato, like many overdo it, and it sounds great!
    2. Flawless intonation.
    3. More legato than my taste, but great nonetheless.
    4. Shaking his right wrist when done reminds me of when I was working on it. Hard on the wrist to keep going non-stop by yourself.
    5. How does he memorize the whole thing? I could only get down about 2 pages.

He's practicing Perlman style quite accurate copy, except for the rushing at 9:55 and later and missing more vibrato. Like someone else said, it would be nice to hear a proper recording of this. He's good enough he could perhaps give it something of himself. Itzhak Perlman has one of the more sonorous interpretations of this. This is just beautiful however and a lot of fun! I'd love to see him do Stern or Heifetz's version of this also.
For those of you who want to quibble and quarrel about this or that, because you have little to do with your lives and no real friends, and want to sully up this board and the comments on Artiom's rendition of beautiful piece of music with your non-able-to-play-this-critiques and pedantic technical wisdom, your dorkish idiocy will be deleted. Go get a life.

Most people know that Joshua Bell also played the Chaconne in a train station also without getting much attention!
Do you what violin he is playing? This audio recording is not perfect, so you can't really if it's a really god violin. This piece by Bach is perhaps the most beautiful piece of music for violin ever written, and it is also very difficult to play.

It just goes to show how disconnected we have become from true music, art, beauty & genius as most just walk by. It is one of the greatest human creations of all time across any field. Yet it does require sustained attention to truly appreciate it's structure, recurring themes & journey through so many emotions. Bach had come home from a trip only to discover his wife was dead & buried. I've been lucky to hear this live in a concert room but it would be so special to also hear it unexpectedly on the streets away from the pedestal. While everyone else is attracted to the loudest speaker, I will be there with a few special others revelling in the glory of this divine creation!

I can't even begin to get across how difficult this piece is. The violin is never comfortable to play as multiple strings, chords are broken and awkward to get to and with an acoustic violin the chance of crunching this high chords is huge but histone was sweet and light and then heavy and back to light.
My chaconne is a shade of this one. I'm jealous in the nicest way possible.

Don't think so. You don't have to be famous to play the Chaconne. But this guy, whoever he is, he does play it extremely well. I wish he was indoors somewhere with better sound.

whoever this person is. this is a great piece played well. to think this is in some street somewhere. probably the best violin piece ever written. this piece by Bach is not recommended for beginners or anyone who is not very familiar with classical music.
