I couldn’t agree more with the way you wear and use your 116710. This is exactly how I use mine, I wear it every day, all day, nearly always whatever I’m doing. I took it off one time a few weekends ago when cutting back my fir trees as it would be uncomfortable wearing a watch with bits of twig and foliage getting caught under the watch and bracelet. But otherwise, it’s on my wrist permanently, even overnight. The lume is excellent I find too. Why buy a rugged precision timepiece to wear only on special occasions?
xjsteve I wear the submariner 2 tone all day everyday. That’s the best way to get your money out of such a great watch. People who don’t wear theirs everyday are missing out
Thank you for the video. I have just purchased a new GMT and it’s on its way to me now. I intend to use it as my daily wearer. Seeing how you wore yours on many adventures makes me feel better on how mine will be used.
I have one of this for over 5 years now and I wear it almost everyday and recently I bought a everlast rubber strap for it, Im even loving it more, its like a new watch after 5 years of constant use ....great watch to have
When I was a kid, I had a fake Rolex and would tell people it was real when asked. Now as an adult, I own an authentic and tell people it's a fake. HAHA!
I don't like the word 'beater'. I've never owned a Rolex, but if I was going to have a one watch collection, that I could wear on any occasion, I suspect it probably would be a Rolex. It's a shame that they've become a symbol of the nouveau riche in many circles, because their timeless design and tool functionality really does appeal to me. Perhaps a Tudor GMT is more my ticket... On a side note, Utah looks wonderful.
I've got a Datejust and a Milgauss, wear one for six months and the other for 6 months. They're designed to be worn everyday and capable of taking some punishment. Never understand anyone who buys a decent Swiss automatic watch and leaves it in the box? You wouldn't buy a brand new Audi and leave it in the garage....
I also have the same watch for over 2 years now still catch my self looking at it time after time!! Ive had other more luxurious pieces before but nothing compares to this beauty!for everyday this is 100% best Watch!!
Love my day-date 40. My first yellow gold watch! Yes it will take a beating and for three years now very accurate too at +1 second a day! Just can’t stop wearing it. 😄❤️🙌
Awesome trip - Very glad you enjoyed it- the entire Niagara river is truly beautiful and so interesting . Your Rolex is awesome and looks right at home in land and sea. Great decision to take her along. Thanks for sharing.
I love your video. Very motivational, exactly you are right Rolex Professional watches are to wear and use it everyday. Thanks and keep posting new vids. I am enjoying my GMT Master II 116710LN.
I bought my first Rolex, not a sports model or Datejust, four months ago and have worn it everyday since. I love it and wish I had bought a Rolex years ago. All my other expensive watches are just gathering dust in a drawer.
Absolutely. If you've earned and spent your hard earned money on a nice watch, you should definitely wear it more often than not. Take off as a precaution where appropriate, but generally don't be scared to wear your watch and let it get scratches and signs of wear.. It just shows and means you really enjoy the watch that much. And if any watch can take a beating and keep going, it should definitely be a Rolex. And, as fancy as some Rolexes are I think they are all essentially sport watches at their core.
Hey Bruce - big fan of the channel. I have a Batman and love it to death as well. But in terms of a daily beater, I don’t think I could wear this watch (everyday), and I’m only a lawyer. The polished center links and clasp are just way way too scratch-prone for my liking. I also have a Tudor Black Bay Black and that fares a lot better in day to day use thanks to its satin brushed finish. Thanks again for the videos - keep em comin!
I have 2 beaters which I divide as my weekday and weekend girls - Explorer II orange on weekdays, Pelagos for weekends 42mm each, guess you can call it the land and ocean girls - and I'm not even outdoors or active haha ;;
... but new Rolex watches are no longer tool watches... they're luxury timepieces, so it's perfectly understandable why some people would be inclined to baby them.
I like your view of luxury goods. I find when I wear my Seiko baby snowflake, I devote mental resources to not bumping it on anything. Even though it is a mild liability, I still love wearing it because it feels special. If I was wearing that Rolex I'd probably be even worse about preserving it😁. It's great you can use it like it's meant to. I love the polished center links on that band!
I love this watch but I can’t get past how scratched up the center links would get. I have an Explorer II and love the brushed look. That’s why I’ve been looking at the sub. But as we all know good luck getting a sub right now. Decisions
Nice! Could have been better if you have shown how the GMT function vis-a-vis Utah and New York worked for you even if its only two hour difference. Regards
Well over 30 years ago (yes I know I'm really old) my daily wear was a 5513 for 20 years. It's scratched up but not badly, never been polished, probably needs a service. Then someone told me they are quite valuable (I paid £250 for it) and that you can't depend on them being WR after several decades. So it comes out occasionally and never as beater. My current beater Rolex is a 40mm Explorer 2 but even that now I think is getting a bit precious and I will be going down the Tudor route. To be honest when I put my order in for a Fifty Eight, it was the same feeling as my 5513 purchase, I'm investing in a quality tool watch to last a generation.
Michael Orme I really enjoy hearing these personal experiences. You need to let me know how you like the 58. It seems like Tudor now days is how Rolex was 20 or 30 years ago
ryanhayn I would be more careful with that bezel. The ceramics are really hard to mark but I hear a replacement steel bezel is expensive as Rolex makes you replace the whole case :/
That's how to use a watch: you wear it with a purpose. Not just to say: "Hey guys look at me, I've got a Rolex, I'm rich!". My beater used to be the venerable Citizen NY0040, but now I'm leaning toward my Borealis Estoril which, being on the classy side of diver watches, is just more versatile. By the way, I've just come home from a wedding. At the party in a fancy restaurant, one of the waiters wore a Rolex Explorer. Best use ever of a tool watch. LMAO
If your asking, if Rolex is a tool watch, like it was back in the days, the purpose of it was...mm, not really, it turned into a luxury piece (bracelets are often shiny (two-tone) and very easy to scratch then) and imo, a brand and watch people buy to let the world know they made it, to a certain stage in life, most of the pieces only desk-dive, and thats it. the toolwatch segment has almost been deleted, the purpose has changed. I think the Tudor Pelagos brings some of the history and good old days back from that era, see....thats a divers watch, a toolwatch, not so much a "look at me" watch, harm it, bang it against something and all the marks will show u had fun, and its a tool-watch. I think Rolex lost a bit of the tool-segment. sure you can dive/swim, use it as a daily beater, but...it seems the purpose, as i stated up there, has changed, btw..nothing wrong with that. Im considering going back to having a Rolex within my collection, with the purchase of the new black dial 39mm OP. Great review as always Bruce, have a continued great weekend. the watch i use the most here, as a daily beater is the baby tuna, it sure takes some punches, and havent been K.O´ed yet.
One of my officers arrested a guy for DWI, the guy was wearing the most worn SS Sky dweller I have seen in a while. When I asked him about the watch he stated the same belief. He said he waited to buy one for years and he figured he might as well wear it as much as he can and get his money's worth.
Well Geo no, they let me keep my watch and wedding ring on. If they wanted me to take hem off I probably would have pulled a ‘Goldberg’ and asked for the manual pat down
+Bruce Williams haha, yeah, I remember Marc saying that in one of his videos. If I have a nice watch on, I usually take it off before security. In a pinch I've tried to stealthily stuff it in my shoes and something else behind it. Been fine so far.
Absolutely fantastic video. Those Utah shots!! You brought up an interesting horological discussion: When you decided to put your name on the Rolex warranty card and buy it brand new, it freed your mind up from the debate of whether you should one day flip it. Essentially you have taken extra, concrete steps to make the watch “yours.” By doing that it freed you from the concerns of babying or scratching the watch. And because you are not afraid of lessening its resale value, I think you get to enjoy your luxury watch even more. 👍
I have the same watch, the blnr thou. Its an awesome everyday watch and so versitile and robust. Yes its a "beater" watch. Nice to see i am not the only one that uses a GMT master 2 as a everyday beater.. Awesome watch man, just perfect for every day use..
These watches are meant to be worn, very silly to have one and let it sit on the shelf. I understand some of the really high end watches like AP, and Patek are not to be worn playing sports, but the Rolex Sports line are bomb proof and meant to be worn.
It depends on your financial status, if you can afford to beat it up and not worry about the potential thousands lost in the process then yes bit I'd say for the majority it is a grail watch and if they ever had the chance to poses one they would treat it like a child
I think rolexes are perfect as daily wearers or “one watch collections” and while they could be a beater I think it depends on the understanding of the word beater. My Marinemaster is my daily wearer and I expect it to get scratches and swirls and don’t baby it. But if I was going rock climbing I’d take a g shock or cheaper Seiko watch. A beater for me is what I wear if I can expect to smash my watch a bit. I don’t cry when I hit my mm300 but I do wince a bit haha and when I had my Rolex GMTc I wore it every day for work and play but took it off at the gym and when moving house.
I have been wearing the previous model with pepsi bezel for the last 12 years, its a shame that they have got so expensive that most people, baby them. The polished centre links are pretty but far too blingy for everyday use and pick up scratches too easily. Rolex for me are a wear every day until you die then pass it on to your children, who can do the same, with servicing you really cant kill them with a stick! I have a yacht master with the polished centre links and they look second hand really easily, although the case is much more comfortable than the GMT ( if i could afford it I would put the GMT movement in the Yacht master case ) they are for wearing , you cant really break them, I haven’t in 30 years of wearing them but most of all enjoy them, its what you spent the money for, oh and if you enjoy them long enough they will be worth more than you paid. If you ignore inflation And last thing after about 2 years the bracelet gets real comfy.
It would really depend on your financial status. If you have alot of money then yes it can be a beater watch. But if its your only rolex watch or your most expensive watch then I dont think you will wanna use it everyday. :)
Just don’t leave it on the car, and you’ll be good. Personally, I take my G-shocks and inexpensive Seiko watches when I travel or do something that could cause damage. Sure, you could wear your Rolex when you do these things, but why? I don’t wear a suit and dress shoes when I go jogging, but I could. The term beater used for a Rolex or high priced watch is used by people who I find to pretentious or just want to flaunt they have money. A true beater is a watch that you don’t care if it gets damaged or broken.
I'll turn your question around, 'Why not?' You buy watches to use them. Not caring if a watch gets damaged shows you carry no love or value for the watch. But you can love a 'beater' you just use common sense about what to do or not do with it
Can anyone justify to me paying the extra $3000 odd for a Batman or Pepsi over this? Seems crazy to pay so much for just a slightly different bezel. Am I wrong?!
Paul Lynch It's the complicated process to combine and divide the colours on the ceramic bezel of the Pepsi or Batman that makes it cost more than the all black GMT. If you understand the process, them you will understand why the Batman GMT cost more than the normal black one.
Seiko and Casio is my friends, there is no reason for me to buy expensive watches.Instead of 5-8000$ rolex you can buy 16 watches of 500€ and they all can last long time.seiko citizen casio certina tissot orient etc...
I wear one of my two Rolex daily. If I'm going to do something heavy duty like work on my truck, throw gravel in the yard, or such like that I'll take it off. I've even worn my Sea-Dweller while referee of soccer games.
The lume is excellent I find too.
Why buy a rugged precision timepiece to wear only on special occasions?
Pinning. Love this.
xjsteve I wear the submariner 2 tone all day everyday. That’s the best way to get your money out of such a great watch. People who don’t wear theirs everyday are missing out
It's the perfect beater watch to compliment my beater Bentley.
James Walker 😂😂😂
Lol nah Bentley needs an AP. Rolex should be fine for us peasants
Bruce Williams I wear my beater AP whenever I hit the swamps in my 45’ beater yacht. Ok, I’m done.
I just got an AP royal oak and a Mercedes 🤷♂️
I recently crashed my learjet but hey ho just a beater plane
You cannot afford a Rolex if you worry about your Rolex.
Thank you for the video. I have just purchased a new GMT and it’s on its way to me now. I intend to use it as my daily wearer. Seeing how you wore yours on many adventures makes me feel better on how mine will be used.
I have one of this for over 5 years now and I wear it almost everyday and recently I bought a everlast rubber strap for it, Im even loving it more, its like a new watch after 5 years of constant use ....great watch to have
I agree how you use your prize Rolex. Beautiful watch and so you use it. BRAVO !!! Use it with no regrets but play it smart, as you do..
Joe G thanks brother!
When I was a kid, I had a fake Rolex and would tell people it was real when asked. Now as an adult, I own an authentic and tell people it's a fake. HAHA!
Thanks for another great video Bruce. I would love to see a full review and/or a comparison with the MM300.
Jake Brown Tudor today is how Rolex used to be. You would love a Tudor GMT as well as Utah. Great place to visit 👍
Looks like a very fun trip Bruce! Wear it in good health, arguably the only watch you will ever need👍
Awesome - I did a similar camping/hiking trip with my Explorer - so glad that I did
Neill Levine I love to hear it man. That is awesome, it’s the original intention of that model 👍
Well stated
im planning to wear the oyster perpetual to do everything. work, shower, lift weights, sometimes sleep with it on
I also have the same watch for over 2 years now still catch my self looking at it time after time!! Ive had other more luxurious pieces before but nothing compares to this beauty!for everyday this is 100% best Watch!!
Love hearing this, congrats
Love my day-date 40. My first yellow gold watch! Yes it will take a beating and for three years now very accurate too at +1 second a day! Just can’t stop wearing it. 😄❤️🙌
I'm currently saving up for my first rolex.
Awesome trip - Very glad you enjoyed it- the entire Niagara river is truly beautiful and so interesting . Your Rolex is awesome and looks right at home in land and sea. Great decision to take her along. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
I love your video. Very motivational, exactly you are right Rolex Professional watches are to wear and use it everyday. Thanks and keep posting new vids. I am enjoying my GMT Master II 116710LN.
Will do thanks man
I bought my first Rolex, not a sports model or Datejust, four months ago and have worn it everyday since. I love it and wish I had bought a Rolex years ago. All my other expensive watches are just gathering dust in a drawer.
Which did you buy? Congrats Lawrence
Love the video of your watch in real life, over the somewhat more common watch videos in a room handling said watch with gloves.
Totally agree with you, these Rolex watches are tools ment to be used, Some people use their Rolex sports watch like it’s a Patek Calatrava
You get it
Been using the Pepsi version for decades. I even use it as a compass- it's a tool watch after all. Excellent choose Bruce!
*choice
Great to hear, especially with how popular they have become
Absolutely. If you've earned and spent your hard earned money on a nice watch, you should definitely wear it more often than not. Great comment Ian. You have a great duo!
I have worn Rolex daily since March 1975. The GMT with its centre links satinised is a watch beyond criticism in design.
I have 2 beaters which I divide as my weekday and weekend girls - Explorer II orange on weekdays, Pelagos for weekends
42mm each, guess you can call it the land and ocean girls - and I'm not even outdoors or active haha ;;

If I was wearing that Rolex I'd probably be even worse about preserving it😁. It's great you can use it like it's meant to. I love the polished center links on that band!
I think dress styled pieces are a different story you want to keep those looking fresh and clean
Would you also same the same thing for the 126710 with a jubilee bracelet?
I like the Daytona’s to me they are the best only because of the history behind the Daytona’s plus the looks
“I had a great time.” haha, nice one.
I love this watch but I can’t get past how scratched up the center links would get. I have an Explorer II and love the brushed look. That’s why I’ve been looking at the sub. But as we all know good luck getting a sub right now. Decisions
Beautiful vacation shots! You are a braver man than me...I pretty much only take my G-Shock on vacation. :)
I took the 5610 with me just in case but never put it on haha
Your camp looks like it was awesome. Bet the boys had a great time.
It was awesome! Sad its over
Nice! Could have been better if you have shown how the GMT function vis-a-vis Utah and New York worked for you even if its only two hour difference. Regards

I think the 58 will be a great addition to your 5513 and 16570. Tudor really hit the mark for pre ceramic lovers with the 58 proportions.
Tudor GMT anytime soon?
You’re right! Watches are supposed to be used😊👍
Would you do the same activities with a GV Milgauss? I'm kinda afraid to since it's much more shiny and easier to scratch.
ryanhayn I would be more careful with that bezel. The ceramics are really hard to mark but I hear a replacement steel bezel is expensive as Rolex makes you replace the whole case :/
Which town was the AD? I`m wondering since seeing your video of the purchase.
Salt Lake City
That's how to use a watch: you wear it with a purpose. Not just to say: "Hey guys look at me, I've got a Rolex, I'm rich!".
My beater used to be the venerable Citizen NY0040, but now I'm leaning toward my Borealis Estoril which, being on the classy side of diver watches, is just more versatile.
By the way, I've just come home from a wedding. At the party in a fancy restaurant, one of the waiters wore a Rolex Explorer. Best use ever of a tool watch. LMAO
That Estoril can do just about anything. That is awesome Luca
Bruce I recommend you get your hands on one of the new Citizen bn0118-04e to check out!
I saw the black OP at the AD. It is sweet, I think you would really like it!
I think that it will be it, i really love the simplicity of it.
Aah, well thank you very much.
I put my BLNR on an Everest strap so I don't get those hairline scratches. It lives on that thing and I love it.
I really need to try that. A good rubber during summer would be a good idea
One of my officers arrested a guy for DWI, the guy was wearing the most worn SS Sky dweller I have seen in a while. When I asked him about the watch he stated the same belief. He said he waited to buy one for years and he figured he might as well wear it as much as he can and get his money's worth.
At least it wasn't gold. Dont think I could abuse a precious metal watch
Did you take off the watch going through security?
Well Geo no, they let me keep my watch and wedding ring on. If they wanted me to take hem off I probably would have pulled a ‘Goldberg’ and asked for the manual pat down
+Bruce Williams haha, yeah, I remember Marc saying that in one of his videos. If I have a nice watch on, I usually take it off before security. In a pinch I've tried to stealthily stuff it in my shoes and something else behind it. Been fine so far.
I work at an asphalt plant and wear my 16570 Explorer II every day.
Nice!
Love the video imagery 🤴⌚
How much is srp of gm2?
The Rolex It is a very nice watch and perfect size. I do/ have worn higher end watches but lately, my metal g-shocks seem to get all wrist time.
steven uk1 and you have pretty much the ultimate gmw collection
Absolutely fantastic video. Those Utah shots!! You brought up an interesting horological discussion: When you decided to put your name on the Rolex warranty card and buy it brand new, it freed your mind up from the debate of whether you should one day flip it. Essentially you have taken extra, concrete steps to make the watch “yours.” By doing that it freed you from the concerns of babying or scratching the watch. And because you are not afraid of lessening its resale value, I think you get to enjoy your luxury watch even more. 👍
Thanks Danny! Its so nice never thinking of resell...
still got stock? in my place to stock at all
Thats what you get when you buy one of the Top 5 Watches on the World.
I have the same watch, the blnr thou. Its an awesome everyday watch and so versitile and robust. Yes its a "beater" watch. Nice to see i am not the only one that uses a GMT master 2 as a everyday beater.. Awesome watch man, just perfect for every day use..
It should be a beater I tried one on yesterday and it was small and hard to read I went for the omega planet ocean 600 gmt great watch ^^
Chris J Davies I love the PO line, congrats man
Looks like Canandaigua Lake. I don’t live terribly far from there.
Good eye! It was Seneca. Hated to leave that area of the country is stunning
Super videocamera!😁
Great watch!!Great Beater!#
These watches are meant to be worn, very silly to have one and let it sit on the shelf. I understand some of the really high end watches like AP, and Patek are not to be worn playing sports, but the Rolex Sports line are bomb proof and meant to be worn.
well said
Holy cow looks like the Parnis GMT Black for $100!!
Boah Intro the nicest 😃
It's not in the same class as a G_SHOCK that's a proper beater .
It depends on your financial status, if you can afford to beat it up and not worry about the potential thousands lost in the process then yes bit I'd say for the majority it is a grail watch and if they ever had the chance to poses one they would treat it like a child
hockingham nice point man. This one will never be sold so any appreciation or depreciation is irrelevant. Sunk cost once I left the store
its your perspective.
Good comment man
I have been wearing the previous model with pepsi bezel for the last 12 years, its a shame that they have got so expensive that most people, baby them.
If you ignore inflation
And last thing after about 2 years the bracelet gets real comfy.
What a nice comment to read. Thanks for sharing Christopher
No.
If you are Bill Gates, then yes, you can wear a Rolex as a daily beater. If you’ve only got a few quid to your name, then no, you can not.
