Ha !! Glad you got it fixed - you sounded pretty exuberant - I know the feeling - congrats !! But you never did say what was the fix …. Spark plug ? Fuel issue ? Anyway - congrats and watch out for the others guy …..
My 1100 Vstar was just running but with a pop and cracking coming from the exhaust then parked it for a week then went to start it and now it barely can start then immediately dies and that’s after adding fuel about 2 gallons to the 2 gallons that was in the tank already so what’s the 1st and 2nd things I should be looking for ?…I was thinking of taking the air cleaner off then quickly spray a shot of starting fluid but it shouldn’t be acting like that in the 1st place.
idk either, i had that issue but now mine doesnt even try to turn over. Ive watched a few other vids but im guessing on my end, theres corrosion on some of the electrical stuff bc the previous owner let it sit for 2 years and it finally caught up with it.
Ya it was kinda of a mess with bad plugs and bad fuel filter to a leaking shutoff valve that all leads to bad carbs that were so bad that one of the carbs was spitting out fuel the wrong way! So rebuilding the carbs was in order for the fix also to note the previous owner had the wrong battery installed so like I said it was a mess.
Glad you had success. My original, 20 year old pump actually quit!

You had the petcock turned off the whole time??
Starter relays go on these quite often. Easy fix.
Your new fuel pump will make a ticking sound till the lines fill with gas. Put the new pump back in.
Great video, incredibly informative!! It will save people a LOT of time and $$$.. assuming the spark plugs were the problem?
what kind of spot plugs did you get
