I just gotta say. I’ve been watching you since I bought my first ever bike 6 months ago. A Yamaha Royal star tour deluxe. But what really caught my eye was the fact that you read the “Words of wisdom”. And you have done it in every video. In a world that looks down on believers. I just gotta say, Thank you! Always great content. And I appreciate your priorities.

I bought a 2007 V-Star 1300 Tourer from an individual ten years ago with 1800 miles on it. I've put another 24K on it and I've never had an issue with the bike. I have to say that I love my V-Star 1300. The wife and I rode 2-up from our home just north of Denver to Sturgis with the saddle bags and a big sissy-bar bag loaded down and the bike performed great! You can get a bigger bike and you can get a faster bike, but I don't think you can get a better bike.

I hate it when someone puts a big number in front of KM. The real mileage is only about half that. I put 128,000 MILES on a 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 bought new, before the poorly designed cam chain system broke and destroyed the engine.

I love my 1300. If anyone wants to buy one, take the windshield off and put an open air cleaner, exhaust, and power boost fuel controller on it. It runs like an ape. I've beat the 103 Harley's and can keep up with most big bikes. I love it, they could make a lighter muscle cruiser frame like the V-rod with this motor. Yeah it's not the fastest, but it's a cruiser so who cares.

I bought a 2015 leftover in June with the leather bags and screen. Never had a bike with a screen and after a few rides took it off. looks better now and is rock steady at 80 plus mph. Quick for a cruiser and handles pretty fair. Great bike and from what I hear is very reliable. Nice video btw.

Hi Sean, I truly enjoy your vlogs. I've been looking at 2014 to 2016 VStar 1300 Tourers as I really like the bike, but have two issues. I've read several reviews concerning the heat coming off the bike even with it being liquid cooled and the second and perhaps more important it seems the brake pedal and shifter heal toe are bot a bit short / small. I am 6'2'' , 260 and wear a size 14 shoe boot. I can't seem to get my footing comfortable on the floorboard w/o pushing up against the brake pedal. Also I can't seem to find an aftermarket extended brake pedal or longer heal toe. I currently ride a Suzuki C50t and don't have that issue. Just curious if you or any of your followers have had this problem and can offer any solutions. Thanks Ric

I have a 2011 950 and come from a sport bike background so it seemed like a larger bike when I first bought it. I'm 6'1 and about 215 and sportsters or the Indian scout seem too small for my frame. My 950 is a great bike, but with a passenger I want better braking and a little more power for longer road trips. I'm making a move to a larger bike...probably a 2018 Indian Springfield, but I'd hate to get rid of the Yamaha. It can't be beat for reliability.

If anyone wants the deluxe seat for one of these, (and also the 950) I have one in great shape that I need to get rid of. Besides being way more plush and comfortable, it pushes you about an inch forward. That made a world of difference on the earliest years before they switched handle bars. It would still greatly improve the comfort for shorter riders. Also, I think the deluxe one is actual leather though I'm not 100% sure on that. Hit me up if you're interested!

Stake the shaft nut. Shafts break. Lube the splines, starter clutch failure, take the exhaust apart to change the oil filter. Take the rear swing arm apart to lube the swing arm... are just some of the reasons I let my 2004 Silverado 1100 go cheap after 28,000 miles. The VStar 950 could be a decent choice. However, the Yamaha's feel significantly bigger/heavier compared to the Shadow line. It's not so much the power you'd have to get used to but the weight of the bike.

Oh lord I fricking hate the heel toe shifter. Someone had installed one (with floorboards and all) into my current bike Marauder and while the bike itself is nice those damn heel toe shifter almost got me into accident, TWICE. All because I accidentally tended to press the heel lever from first gear to neutral in exactly the wrong times. And yes I have very big feet which is probably why I had so much trouble with them. In any case, I got fed up with them and sawed the heel part off with an angle grinder. 🤬 Problem solved, never had issues since.

I think they addressed the starter clutch issue in 2000-01, by adding a 2 way clutch that would absorb the kickback from the motor, when you turn off the bike. I unfortunately had a 99. You can twist the starter back in place if it fails, but that only works a couple times, before tab on the case break's and it just spins in the housing. I still Loved my 1100.

I bought a brand new left over 2014 vstar 1300s about 2 months ago, still in the crate for $6720. Its the standard version no bags or shield. Very light handling bike even compared to my honda vtx 1300. They weigh about the same but the vstar feels lighter off the stand and is much easier to throw around at low speeds. My only complaint (as touched on in the video) is these engines don't seem to have a lot of low end torque compared to most v twins this size. It pulls hard once rpms build and is ultimately faster than my vtx but at its much easier to lug the Yamaha at low rpms. If you're in too high a gear this thing will let you know it's not happy. All and all you cant beat these bikes for the money.

I've got a 2007 650v star classic. My only problem with it and most yamahas in general is the "Jettson Mobile" sound they all Make.
No complaints about how they run or handle but that sound burdens me. Pull in the clutch no jettson sound so it's got to be in the gear box.
    Love the words of wisdom.

    • @budfans
      @budfans 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Baird's Bikes road star to me is better suited for longer rides and handles the highway better but the v star 1300 is more flickable.. 99 to 03 road star is 1600 and has a carberuretor then 04 to 07 is 1700 and carb as well then 08 and above is fuel injected and 1700.. the v star 1300 is fuel injected dosent matter what year and both the v star and road star have a 5 speed tranny i prefer the tranny in the road star better it is much smoother.. last thing is dont buy a 1300 deluxe the fairing is garbage better off putting fairing with your sound system in it

I'm glad I don't have that problem of thinking that a windshield makes a bike look bad or uncool. Because then you face the issue of having to choose between comfort or looking cool. To me, most bikes (cruisers) look just as good or maybe better with a windshield. Sean, or is it Shawn? always thinks that you just have to pull the windshield off or you will look bad. That's silly.

From everything I've learned, I'd choose the V Star 1300 every time. V Star is fuel injected/ VTX1300 is carbed. V Star has more power than the VTX. And big one for me is, V Star oil change is much easier than the VTX. I hear Honda put 2 drain plugs underneath and the oil filter is in a terrible position that I guess you can't hardly get a filter wrench on and there isn't enough room to use a K&N with the nut on top.

V-Star is when Yamaha bought the patent to make Yamaha look and sound like Harley didn't really work out for 1 the Japanese bike there's only one Harley that's United States made they have a little more issues in the V-Star but they don't bend valves or starter clutches cuz they were piss-poor engineered I hate that starter clutch to put it on everything they make Yamaha Honda does it Kawasaki Suzuki does it they all do it and it's on purpose would that so that it breaks down and you have to spend money fucked up one way bearing

"Yamaha Finally Fixed the Problem". If I understand correctly the referenced problem was the starter clutch on the V-Star 1100, right? If so, then Yamaha "finally" fixed something that was never a problem with THIS bike and in fact fixed it 10 years before this video was published. As a recent buyer of a 2007 V-Star 1300, this amounts to serious misinformation. Or maybe just clickbait. As much as I want to like you guys, your 'reviews' are only sales pitches. Not subscribed. Not liked.
