OH HELL YEAH! RIMMY IS BACK ON IRON HARVEST AND ITS THE NEW CAMPAIGN! i actually specificely watched NOTHING about this until rimmy uploaded! always a good laugh with the aussies downunder!
Usonia is a different USA. Very similar timelines though, as Usonia did expand westward, and still went to war with Spain. Key differences though is that Usonia maintained a heavier degree of isolationism than its real world counterpart. It didn't buy Alaska from Russia, and didn't intervene in the first world war. And if Iron Harvest's description is to be taken at face value, it is also exceedingly more tolerant, as Usonia will treat all citizens as first class citizens no matter who they are. Even allowing them to keep their culture, religion, and other ties from their homeland as long as they swear loyalty first and foremost to Usonia.
@@Mr.Byrnes In our current day and age yes, but I am not referring to our laws and regulations in the modern day. I am referring to the eras which the game takes place in specifically for the alternate USA, known as Usonia. For in our history during the eras after world war one. The USA had tried at multiple points in its history forcefully convert the Native populations to its culture. As well as treated various other races and what have you as second class citizens. Hell, one of the main factors why we gave up our possession over the Philippines was because our senators both Dem and Rep. Pushed for laws to ban or at least limit Filipino immigrants, (don't ask me why they couldn't do this while in possession of the Philippines I do not want to get the book out.). So, unlike the USA in our timeline, according to the games wiki. The alternate history USA, known as Usonia was more tolerant, and instead allowed first class citizenship to all civilians within the nation. As long as they swore loyalty to Usonia first and foremost of course.
The politics is heavy handed, but I feel like we've been getting subtle commentary in games for years now and it's all gone over people's heads so I'm actually liking this new heavy handed approach in gaming. Same thing happening on the latest Destiny season.
Closest thing I know to tell Rimmy for an RPG set in Iron Harvest would be home brewing the setting with Mekton Zetta. Its an old system, and therefore pretty expensive to get the books, but the PDFs are usually cheap. Also rather simple dice mechanics wise, everything being a D10 + Skill level + relevant Stat level vs a DC, no obtuse modifiers on the players end. As far as video game RPGs go... I got nothing. Maybe something similar to Front Mission?

As an Alaskan, I almost went rabid at the words "Alaska under Russviet control." because that implies that the US in this alternative history is retarded. Alaska cost 2 cents an acre, for a total cost of 7.2 million dollars. Seward's "Ice chest" happens to be full of gold!
To be fair, the heavy isolationism wasn’t great for the country. We were going to have to interact with the rest of the world at some point so it was better that we steered things in the direction most beneficial to us.
I like iron harvest It talks about stuff from that time period alot with some new stuff as well If you dont know, in the 1900s to the 40s the us was very anti interventionist and didnt want to actually go to war and intervene in conflicts prefering to be left alone. That stance changed after ww2 where the red scare and Korea happened with the us becoming it's overbearing interventionalist self
The hover bikes are interesting, it's funny because the US military experimented with combar hover platforms back in the 50's, but you had to stand on them and the military has swung back around to the idea, but the new ones you sit on. The Hiller 'Pawnee' basically has a guy standing over a large propeller. And the Williams X-jet was nicknamed the flying pulpit, and it looks like something you would see a battle sister or priest use in 40k (minus the guns). The sitdown bike idea has been considered in newer designs.

I've got a friend who's going to be running a 5e Campaign heavily inspired by Iron Harvest for me and some buddies, it's gonna be fantastic.
Okay so that Camera bot really reminded me of something, I don't know if anyone else has but a few years ago I read a books series called "Leviathan" where it's an alterante ww1 with the central powers having mechs and the allies having biotech, and I can't help but think how awesome that setting would be. God I wish I could mod cause I would try and do that in this game.
"Its better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission"
I feel like I've heard that from somewhere and i can't remember where
It's a common phrase. You've probably heard it in many things.
@@cibo889 It means you do something you may not be allowed to, and then ask for forgiveness later, rather than try to get permission for it beforehand and likely being denied.
@@cibo889 The forgiveness is for doing something without asking for permission first. Keep in mind this phrase isn't entirely literal, it's not saying they're going to explicitly ask for forgiveness once everything is over. The phrase just means sometimes it's better to do what you need to without asking for approval, first, and then deal with the consequences of that once you're done. In the case of this cutscene, the idea is they'd never get permission to deploy in the middle east if they asked for it, so they'll do it secretly, and, assuming their mission is successful, the result will be so good that their superiors won't be too mad about it.
@@tripodranger7873 Sounds exactly what Washington DC did when they found out Andrew Jackson overdid his orders concerning Florida (ie he invaded and annexed it instead of stopping by the border)...
OH HELL YEAH! RIMMY IS BACK ON IRON HARVEST AND ITS THE NEW CAMPAIGN! i actually specificely watched NOTHING about this until rimmy uploaded! always a good laugh with the aussies downunder!
Yes! You finally covered this. You should try the Rusviet Revolution after.
So happy that this is up now.

Me, an American, looks at military budget: *Visible confusion*
@@54lolman thanks for sharing but my post was for humor. I realize that the game takes place in an alternate universe.
@@TheDesertFox1940 Oh my apologies then!
@@54lolman Doesn’t the US allow you to keep all those things right now? I don’t think the US forcibly converts migrants lmao! Ignorant comment
In the word of Heavenly and RussianBadger: "Nah, I heard oil! *THAT SHIT IS MINE!!* "

I just realized the Usonian mechs are based on American wildlife.
Salem is based on a dinosaur
Knox is a tortoise
Stark is a bison
Attucks is a beetle
Only one of those is mainly american
zero dislikes
perfectly balanced
as all things should be
So after I watched this I went and rewatch Ed the entire iron harvest play list then watched this again!!! So ready for part 2 keep up the awsome work rimmy and PATRON SAINT OF THE GUARD SIMPKIN!!!

America: "Remain calm. We are here to liberate your country's oil. Er, I mean, we're here to liberate your country."

Sounds like you want to be liberated, wise crack

Damn it not even 2000s and they already doing interventions
The most american of pastimes interventions.
@@Zretgul_timerunner At this point it is considered rude for America to not be in an intervention for their monetary interests
@@NetAnon It’s true! Every country must do something that’s wrong and America chooses Foreign intervention for money as people would care more if they invaded Canada
As an American...I approve.
As an Alaskan, I almost went rabid at the words "Alaska under Russviet control." because that implies that the US in this alternative history is retarded. Alaska cost 2 cents an acre, for a total cost of 7.2 million dollars. Seward's "Ice chest" happens to be full of gold!
Very art deco designs, seeing some "Mercury", "Daylight", and Class J steam train designs for the mechs maybe even some Super Cheif thrown in there.
this looks way more fun than the main campaign!
6:52 Not until Franklin D. Roosevelt decides America should be the world police.
To be fair, the heavy isolationism wasn’t great for the country. We were going to have to interact with the rest of the world at some point so it was better that we steered things in the direction most beneficial to us.
Love the American theme so much it’s extremely American also the Salem is so Dieselpunk
it's baaack!!!
yes, good
"Deal with the situation... but discreatly"
**FLYS IN BIG ASS AIRSHIPS**
So, Usonia is basically a mix of Columbia from BioShock and the Brotherhood of Stee from Fallout.
Every hero has thier animal companion , wojtek the bear , nacht and tag the wolves , changa the tiger , and ....mech suit the turret !
I like iron harvest
It talks about stuff from that time period alot with some new stuff as well
If you dont know, in the 1900s to the 40s the us was very anti interventionist and didnt want to actually go to war and intervene in conflicts prefering to be left alone.
We need the second part now please and thank you!
Hey Rimmy/comment section, don't know if your a reader but "Leviathan" by Westerfeld might be a great book if you like ww1 mechs. Basically, the axis have walking mechanical battleships and stuff while the allies have animalesque "animals". Russians, for example, have giant bears with forts on their backs. Can't remember the age range of the books but I remember it was badass. Enjoyed the video! 👍

Also, is anyone else kind of upset at the failed opportunity (at least what I see as a failed opportunity) to have Mason Sr. be a Red Herring and have either the Uncle or the New Reporter be the main villain? Still like the story, just felt that this would've been a good opportunity to subvert expectations well.
ehh maybe but it's romp besides the ending is perfect

It is good to see the Metal Slug cammels still have a job.
leave it to the Americans to invent space marines.
Bruh those camels are literally just technicals and I love it
Finally they added fredom to the game
That first scene with the zeppelins had kinda the same vibe as the BoS entering the Commonwealth in Fallout 4, after you've killed Kellogg. It was amazing.
Simpkin is our saint
those camels with machine guns were an actual thing. The Persians called them Zamburaks, which typically featured gatling guns or swivel guns, and holy fuck I'm so happy they added them to the game.
I’m betting the lag is due to the physics of the grass and foliage kicking in when you zoom in
