  • Hi Guys, This week I go out on a solo backpacking adventure in remote central Nevada and discover unexplored red rock country. This is off road and by passed lands that exist in Nevada's wild outback! I travel here and backpack in, set up a camp and make dinner while exploring rarely seen desert lands of wild North America.
I also do a quick gear load out of all my essential backpacking gear!
    Let's Explore this!!

Man, you've got the most chill hiking/backpacking/camping channel out there. I love your gear load out style, not afraid to pack everything you need for a good time by obsessing over weight. Love your videos and jealous of your adventures.

Chris, when I was young, my grandparents had a cottage on Black Lake, upper NYS. The access into the road was serviced by a similar gate. I jumped out to open for my grandfather to drive in, as I closed it I was on the wrong side of the gate! They never let me forget that hysterical mistake each time we would arrive at the cottage! Great memories.

BLM Land is one of the greatest forms of public lands. Here on the East Coast you don't run into it. So I'm envious when I get to see others who get to enjoy it. Thanks for taking us out on an amazing trip out there and showing how important those lands are for us.

Hello Chris, thank you for sharing this very informative and entertaining video. The bobcat was actually 'Crazy Bob,. He is an unpredictable big cat. I like your version of the 'bobcat' call. I like your organizational skills. Hopefully soon, the fire season will be over and you can get back to hiking in California.
All the best to you Chris. Take care, be safe, have fun and stay healthy.

Beautiful area you found! I love Nevada! If you were there in late summer, it was probably around mating season. I've seen a couple bobcats during my trail runs. I run in the Marin Headlands and I usually see the most animals when it's really foggy. One time, I was running along on a foggy early morning and a bobcat was ahead of me, running on the trail, which is really rare, and no matter what, he stayed on the trail. I made lots of noise, he just stayed running along the trail ahead of me. I think he was looking for rabbits. Eventually, he took off. I've only seen a mountain lion once. It was far enough ahead of me and it took off quick.

Next time you make this meal, after choosing the vegetables, dice them tiny before you put them in the baggie… that way you don’t have to use the cutting board at all !
Then… add those tiny veggies to your water before you boil the water and let them cook a bit while the water comes to a boil! If cut tiny enough, they will be cooked!

I have a bobcat story; my boyfriend has 80 acres abutting the nation forest. He and another guy walked about two hundred feet away from the house into the woods behind the house to talk about putting a rustic cabin to rent out in the woods.
While they were standing there and talking plans, a big bobcat came along and went down to stalking towards them. They both were stunned. The other guy stands over 6’ tall and is very big and muscular. Turns to my boyfriend and asked, do you have your gun? My boyfriend says no.
There is a box trailer not to far from them and they were thinking walking slowly backwards towards it to get away from the cat.
The big guy finally raises his arms and screams and yells and the cat finally ran off. It probably got about 10 feet from them.
