    Why can’t every “how to” video be this straight forward and complete? Great job and thank you.

    Almost 6 years since you posted this vid and it's still going strong. Used your video today - in 2022!

      My memory is bad I use my own videos to relearn how to do stuff:/.

    Thank you for posting a clear and concise video that's straight forward. Saw sooooo many other videos that just blow past the simple stuff. Take it from a guy who knows nothing about cars, it's much appreciated.

    out of every golf cabin filter video on TH-cam this is the only one that tells you to push up on those stupid tabs so thank you

    great video. One thing to highlight - the tabs you have to push down on only stick out a little bit. Above them is a another piece of plastic that covers them so you have to push from the very end of the tab.

    This actually worked though those tabs are a ROYAL pain to remove. There is another TH-cam out there that has you going in from under the hood. At least on my 2017 Golf Sportwagen that doesn't work. Thanks much.

    Does the air flow go from top to bottom. Or from bottom up? Thanks for the vid!

    • @hanoihancock
      @hanoihancock  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The airflow goes from top to bottom. Be careful interpreting the arrows on replacement filters. Some have an arrow with the word "up" indicating which side of the filter goes up. Others have an arrow with the words "air flow" which should be installed with the arrow pointing down.

    Now hopefully I can convince my wife that I just might be capable of performing this complex bit of servicing….i have been denied the pleasure of changing the engine air filter.

    Cost $59.99 at my dealership and you can get the filter at walmart for under $10.

    Would this be why the fan isn’t blowing through the middle vents?

    • @hanoihancock
      @hanoihancock  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. A clogged cabin filter shouldn't prevent certain vents from blowing. It would prevent all vents from blowing equally. It's more likely the little wheel/dial beneath the vents is turned off. When that wheel/dial is turned all the way to the left, that vent doesn't blow.

    • @tigerlily62
      @tigerlily62 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hanoihancock I’ve tried the dial both ways and there is definitely nothing coming out of them. It must be something else. I’ll get it looked at. 😊

    • @hanoihancock
      @hanoihancock  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tigerlily62 Let me know what the dealer says. I'm now guessing that there is a problem with one of the flap servos. Here's a link to a TH-cam video that shows someone fixing a similar issue without needing to buy a part. It's worth a try. No tools involved. Looks like the gear on the recirculator flap motor just pops out of place and can be pushed back in place by hand. th-cam.com/video/RN7O6tsFQpY/w-d-xo.html

    • @tigerlily62
      @tigerlily62 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hanoihancock it’s going to be either that or the Blower Fan Resistor Assembly?

    • @hanoihancock
      @hanoihancock  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tigerlily62 It'd be the blower fan resistor if the fan only operated at certain speeds (e.g. just 1 and 4 instead of all four speeds). I googled around a bit and see owners of various VW's having the problem you describe (everything works great, but no air from center vent) and most seem to point to a flap servo problem. Unfortunately, I can't find a good comprehensive write-up on how to replace/fix or even whether there is a separate/dedicated servo and flap for the center vents (separate from the recirculator flap located under the glove box).
