@@bealsabub Not bad at all if it's clogged at the exit. Just a matter of how quickly you can get the rear wheel off. The fender liner comes off easily. While the wheel is off, after you clear the drain, I would check to make sure you can see it draining properly. One side for me had clogged up so badly that the hose actually popped off completely and was draining the water straight into the spare tire compartment. I had to remove a couple of interior trim pieces so I could peel back the side interior panel just enough to reach the hose and reattach it.
I have an 01 Mk4 Jetta Sedan, so only front drains but they drain into a much better location. Into the door jamb. My solution was to take my steam cleaner I have for detailing, and just shove a jet of hot steam down the top of the drainage vent near the sunroof. If it's really being difficult, mix in a tiny bit of all purpose cleaner or a low foaming dish soap. Alternate the steamer and compressed air to keep the risk of melting anything low, and e-vent-ually it will vent again!
Thank you so much for this! I kinda figured out the problem but your video filled in the gaps - wonderfully. My driver's side foot well is sopping wet after a heavy rain. What I can't figure out is how it's getting there in the first place, and if it's not going through the drain line, how is it getting down to the floor? I had it come through the mirror light under the visor after the last rain. Roof is closed, all the seals look good. Any advice on drying out the foot well? I pulled out the trim along the door bottom, hood lever and foot rest and lifted the rug and stuffed a towel in there to sop up the water, but that's going to take forever. Shop vac?
@@ridge9066 Make sure the hoses aren't disconnected. That's another common issue that happens. You will have to slightly drop the head liner to confirm the connection at the sun roof area. It can also leak at that connection, so dump water in the sun roof and watch where it goes.
Do you guys know if I have water in spare tire well, and also wet spots on the headliner, should I skip straight to looking at the headliner tube connection?
Hi. Do you have any ideas how to replace the black grommet under the hood.i got the leak inside the grommet. I think I can remove it but too tight space in the a pillar
My problem isn’t a clog, it’s that the tube from the sunroof connects to another tube at the dash at the bottom of the a pilar. I can’t figure out how to reconnect them without having the windshield removed because there isn’t enough room to get your hands down in there to push them into each other. Hopefully I can find someone with that problem with a solution other than windshield removal.
It’s actually quite easy to re-connect there if they get disconnected. Just remove the a pillar trim piece, and wedge your hand or a tool in there. It’s not common that’s the issue though.
As a person who was trying to figure out the issue and ways how to solve it, thanks you
shit man. I wish this was the first video I saw regarding this problem!! These are the best recommendations!
I’ve been procrastinating doing this I’m glad I found this. This seems so much easier. After I fix this then I have to fix the sunroof shade. Ugh!!
I just cut my shade off haha
Best video for mk6 sunroof drains. Thanks a lot! Greetings from 🇧🇷
Awesome video. Saved days of exploration and then putting it all back together.

Dude nice. Just got them all taken care of. I've had leaking in the spare tire compartment for over a year now. Thanks for the info!
How bad was the rear to do?

Thank you! In SoCal it is easy to forget these until it is an issue. It should be part of preventive maintenance.
You made my job much easier. Cos I was going to start with the sunroof gasket. My Passat is leaking both front and back.
You are hero🎉
Thank you!! From Japan🇯🇵
Thanks a lot for this video. Very useful

thanks bud! Great advice.
Thanks for the video. I’m getting water in the spare tire well. I’m going to try looking at the hose where it comes out behind the fender liner.
That’s how mine started!
Just cleaning the rear drains didn’t fix it. I’m going to have to look deeper.

@@JustDiesels I’ll try that

lifesaver !
Thank you!
I suspect this is my hassle. Water in the back left foot well so will go this route before stripping for hours and hours. Thank you so much
This helped me!

Thanks man!
Do you have a recommendation for aftermarket Android auto headunit?
I really like my Alpine Halo 9 head unit that's in this car
Currently have a leak in my mk5 passanger side roof is soaked
Why haven’t you made videos about bypass oil filters not much videos on TH-cam about them.
I don't have a ton of need, but they make sense for people logging tons of miles. To me it's just easier to change my oil every 5k
I am a fellow TDI sport wagon owner do you have any videos identifying your mods?
Here's a video of my last car done with the same wheels, tires and suspension: th-cam.com/video/mEBugqY4Oz0/w-d-xo.html
Because my time with Amsoil with twin filters and it would dry start every time and after a week I yanked them out and threw in trash !!
