I think the coolest thing about BMTH is you could ask 10 different fans to make their own list and they would all be completely different.
I think 70% rank Sempiternal or That's the spirit highest, cause that's when they got big. And then there are the other ones split between random choices ("Dead dolphin sounds is the best song!") and the "oh I still think just screaming to noise is THE SHIT even though I'm 30 now" crowd from their early work.
@@LuLeBe I might be in the 30% because I just got into BMTH recently and I still prefer everything from Sempiternal and forward. It just sound better IMO and I'm not a Deathcore fan.
@@LuLeBe I mean, swreaming to noise will always be great. Love all their work but give me Oli screaming and i'm creaming in my pants
Facts I love every album and ep but I think Post Human-survival horror is my fave
@@LuLeBe I started listening to them in 2006, and I think That's The Spirit is their best album if I'm listening start to finish lol. Suicide Season comes in 2nd for me, but That's The Spirit just hits all of the right notes IMO. Sempiternal has some of their best songs though. BMTH at the end of the day comes down to what I'm in the mood for, and I think that's the case for a lot of us original fans who lack the pretentiousness of the metal purists.
Finn: “I’m a purest. The heaviest or the poppiest”
Also Finn: “this will be their best album because it’s the perfect combination of heavy and poppy”
Looking 5 months from the future with the new Album out. I have to agree. It just somehow works.
Pick a lane.
Finn: “I want an album to be fully committed to being either pop or metal, I don’t want it to be half and half”
Also Finn: “The new unreleased album is my favorite because it is a blend of their entire catalog”
He is truly great at contradicting himself
I prefer my TH-camrs to be fully on one side of the fence or the other. Which is why I love Finn because he combines both sides so well
There Is A Hell / Heaven at the very bottom 😂!?! Easily their best work in my book and such an underrated album. By default still quite heavy and Metalcore based, but the now signature electronic production was properly introduced, and it also started showing their ability to switch up the sickest single string riffs, for the most ambient and tranquil clean electric guitar, leaning into more balladry territory.
I agree, for me their riff signature is in this album.
"There is a hell, believe me i've seen it! There js a heaven, let's keep it a secret!! NO-ONE-NEEDS-TO KNOWWW!!!
And this was the album where BMTH transitioned from edgelord scene cringe (With the exception of Chelsea Smile) to a decent to amazing modern rock band
@@lethybridtheorygolucastheo2191 I suppose you could say that. I would even say if you didn't know better, you could easily think Jordan was part of the band for this album 👀
My favourite album BY FAR. They never had so much emotions in their songs before and haven't had since. It's emo and edgy AS FUCK but why sould that be a bad thing if the song evokes great emotions and is well made and creative ? Sometimes we hate edgy stuff just because we cringe at our past self, but embracing it with more hindsight and a bit of nostalgia is so good
@@yourfather8865 Oh most definitely, especially on ones like Don't Go and Blessed With A Curse. Ultimately quieter, more clean sounding and ballad leaning songs, with so much pain and emotion in Oli's almost crying screams. Plus, if you've heard the new Kool-Aid yet, I got Blacklist vibes off of it, but a bit cleaner... And heavier as that's somehow a possible combo, and with a touch of Count Your Blessings to it 👀
That's the Spirit and Post Human are my favorites. Great band overall.
Edit: the balls on this man--not putting Sempiternal at #1.
My favorite is music to listen to.
Post Human is so, so good. It's probably number 1 for me with some combo of Sempiternal, That's the Spirit, and Suicide Season in the next tier.
Which Post Human :troll:
I really enjoyed Sepiternal, it was so different to me when it came out. I think i agree that they just dont make bad music.
Same. Sleepwalking is still my favorite song.
Post Human is my favourite record from them, and now it really feels like they are putting out their best music. Some sort of mix of influences between core and linkin park and whatever else electronic that goes, always really fun to listen to.
I agree. I would not be a huge fan of the band without Post Human. In my opinion it's the only 10/10 album they have
Not generally a massive fan of theirs, but I fucking love that EP
All of the songs slap live . You’ve never lived to you moshed to dear diary
YOU'RE A KINGSLAYER! 👑🗡
There is a Hell is best album, will not argue
Definitely has some of their coolest songs. Somehow the somewhat random experiments with strings and synths worked out super well.
it's a great album but i like sempiternal more
From Hell is great, but Sempiternal is not only their best album, but one of the best albums ever made.
Agreed, truly a man of taste
True!
My favorite band yo! Always an event when they drop new material
they're a great band
Sempiternal is in my top 3 albums of all time, It was incredible when it was released 10 years ago and still holds strong today. But yeah there isnt much "bad" stuff in their entire discography
My personal ranking:
1. Sempiternal
2. That's The Spirit
3. Survival Horror
4. There Is A Hell...
5. Suicide Season
6. amo
7. Count Your Blessings.
All really solid albums, I have to say amo grew on me a lot even though I still have it low on the list. Also I haven't listen to Music to Go To etc. And for their Debut EP I think its fine but I'd rather just listen to Count Your Blessings instead.
Also I respect your opinion on There Is A Hell, it is a growing pain album, but I think it is easily there most underrated and I wish bring me would play some of these songs more often. Lee's guitar work on There Is A Hell as well as Sempiternal is God tier stuff, especially his clean parts.
I understand Finn's point about wanting music to be one way or another. Either really heavy or really pop.
What's funny is that I tend to like the in between stuff.
Same I feel like the contrast is great
Man, honestly, your second channel became my main one to watch, thank you for all the work you're doing!
I've never been that much into their music after Sempiternal, but I have huge respect for them as artists.
It's not easy to be making music for 20 years and still have a fresh new sound every couple years.
Count your blessings will always have a very special place in my heart. I genuinely enjoy the album but it’s also tied securely to very fun memories of my teen years.
Here's my list:
1: count your blessings
2: count your blessings
3: count your blessings
You get the idea
Amen
Period
Your metalhead incel impressions are always so spot on. God tier talent.
Ok but... "There is a Hell" is undoubtedly their peak for me. I put that album up there with The Beatles, Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" etc. for top 10 albums of all time. Sempiternal honestly is just "There is a Hell" pt. II in the way that Green Day's "21st Century Breakdown" is the followup to "American Idiot." It's good, but doesn't capture that epic and groundbreaking feeling that the first does. I love BMTH's pop side too, but "There is a Hell" captured the moment in a completely unexpected way. Oli's introduction to clean vocals, HUGE guitar sounds, unreal songs - through and through. They were leaving their deathcore roots but discovered a bombastic and cinematic sound along the way.
The Disrespect for “There is hell…” is unbelievable. The dichotomy of heavy instrumentation and harsh vocals, and cleaner softer sections that are heavy emotionally. How can you not like songs like Crucify me, It Never Ends, F*ck, Alligator blood, Visions, Don’t go, or Blessed with a curse? I get your a purist, but there’s more nuance to music than being a one trick pony.
Yeah I agree, There is a hell... has been one of my top albums ever since it came out, the only BMTH album that ever came close to it was Sempiturnal
@@hytellus agreed fully, nice profile pic by the way. Love A7x
Couldn't agree more on the no 1 pick.
Amen, Darkside, Lost, Code Mistake, Strangers, Die For You, and Bad Life (Assuming they all will make it into the album).
Just those few songs are enough to justify how good the album is going to be.
Strangers is easily on my top 5 BMTH songs. if had to guess, with no specific order, my top 5 would be something like Strangers, Sleepwalking, Shadow Moses, LosT and Happy Song. out of the ones you listed, i'm just not much of a fan of Amen and Code Mistake, but yeah if they all make it, it will surely be a great album
I don't think Bad Life will be on the album as it is on Sigrid's album, and I think they made it for her.
Code mistake is a featuring, it's not their song
2:18 dude you literally put in WORST their BEST record
I really enjoyed That’s the Spirit. I went through a very hard time personally when it was released and it was a good form of escapism at the time, so I look back on it very fondly.
Also Ollie is prob the best looking dude of the whole scene era. He wins the beauty contest hands down. I remember a vaguely alt stripper talking about how hot he was constantly.
8.) Music to…
7.) Count Your Blessings
6.) Suicide Season
5.) There is a Hell…
4.) Amo
3.) Sempiternal
2.) That’s the Spirit
1.) Post Human: Survival Horror
That’s the Spirit is a personal favorite of mine, but holy fuck did that first Post Human release hit so fucking hard. 10/10 perfection. This band is absolutely fucking GOATED. Every new release is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get.
My (metalcore-kid) list (worst to best):
-Music to listen to... (just not my type of music
- count your blessings (too much riff salad)
-amo
- thats the spirit (thrown and drown were just amazing singles)
-post-human I
- suicide season
- Sempiternal
-there is a hell
My list is in near reverse order. I really like There is a hell..., Suicide Season, and Sempiternal the most. Easily my top 3 BMTH albums. I think all their music is good for what it is. I just can't help but be a little dissapointed when they release different stuff. Like I'll listen to it, and I might even like it but I never really return to it. I hear their newer stuff regularly on spotify and I don't skip it when it comes on but it does make me want to put on some of the metalcore era stuff after hearing it.
Your top 3 is the same as me!
Sempiternal coming out a decade ago does make me feel old. Came out when at the end of my junior year of high school and it absolutely swept all of us metalcore kids
1: Sempiternal
2:Thats The Spirit
3: Amo
4 PH:SH
5: There is a Hell
6: Suicide season
7 Count your blessing
as someone who was a bit too young for the scene era and now just getting into their discography they’re incredible, lee malia is the most underrated guitar player i’ve ever seen honestly the whole band, oli has his moments tho but fantastic front man
Sitting there and listening to death core going "it's so catchy and I love the shit production" is such a meme
"There is a Hell" and "Sempiternal" are personally my favorites
Not going to lie him saying There is a hell is the worst album is truly offensive. Definitely not their best but that is truly a bad take
bold move of you to put their upcming album in first place but I think you're actually onto something. ppl will not stfu about how long it's taking but I can wait & I think it'll be worth the wait too.
BRING ME DA 'ORIZON! Those dudes nail every sub-genre of rock. Them alongside Bad Omens and Falling in Reverse are the best in the game right now.
Funny that Bad Omens stared as a BMTH sempiternal copy band. I remember seeing them in 2017 warped tour. They had the worse stage venue and almost nobody watching them. Crazy how when you do your own thing, the wonders you can achieve
@@ilyapangorchavI thought the same thing (2016 debut ofc), Bad Omens finally sound their identity with TDOPOM though, easily the best metalcore album in years
Calls Sempiternal the definitive modern metalcore album: doesn’t even make top 3.
Says Song to Listen to is an album he wouldn’t choose to listen to: doesn’t get last place.
Finn is clearly a genius.
I’d be more forgiving of Sempiternal not being #1 if Amo wasn’t #2.
Finally some ranking that there is NOT Sempiternal on first place.
Everyone always forgets the chillout sessions :( one of my favs
I saw this video on my recomended, freaked out, listened to it, heard he was going to talk about music to listen to, my fav album of all time. "Like seeing spiders running riot on your lover's grave hit's so hard."
My fav albums from them are:
1.) Sempiternal
2.) Suicide Season
3.) There Is a Hell
4.) Count Your Blessings
5.) Post Human Survival Horror
6.) This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For EP
7.) Thats The Spirit
8.) Amo
9.) Music To Listen To
Who agrees with me?

Couldn’t agree more!
No love for TTS? Such a banger of an album and Doomed is one of the most stunning pieces of art created this century IMO
Could agree a lot more
@@Vivi_9I like the album but personally I love their heavy stuff the best
Mine 8. Music to listen to 7. Count your blessings
6. Amo
5.suicide season
4. Thats the spirit
3. There is a hell
2. Post human
1. Sempiternal
Literally last night I was thinking, "I want Finn to rank BMTH" and I wake up get on my computer and see this. All you atheists out there, this is proof that there is a God.
This is honestly the worst tier list ever made by any living organism in all universes by thousands of miles.
Ive been listening to BMTH since 2008 😊 Still listen to them. It's just one of those bands that can't do you wrong.
me when someone rates anything but count your blessings as the best 😤😡
Edit: lmao I was meming but I wasn’t actually expecting it to be #2 for you. It’s a classic album in the genre IMO, your analysis of it was spot on.
Nothing makes me happier than to see them still killing it. The only album i didn't like a lot was the one with the long title.
Hard for me between post human + amo but there is a hell was always my fave for years … what a great band! Shadow Moses … hats off chaps. Smashed it!
You should do this with A Day To Remember or Hatebreed. I know you're big fans of those bands and they both have a lot of albums that are really good
This has to be the worst tierlist ever made by a human being well done 👏🏻
When I heard AMO, I immediately thought they should do an album with Trent from NIN
My spotify wrapped up had Post Human as my most listened to album/band so I guess I like that album lol. Lost was my most listened to song though. I actually disliked them back when they did Deathcore so hadn't given them a listen to until last year but rapidly became one of my favourite bands. Oli knows how to make absolutely catchy and banging choruses and you can tell he vibes really well with Jordan when they're coming up with lyrics for a song.
Same. I listened to them a little when CYB came out but deathcore is too grating for me to listen to all the time. I just kind of assumed they kept the same sound and was surprised they were so popular. Gave Sempiternal a listen earlier this year after much talk about it on this channel. Wow, what a change. They have helped fill a hole that was left when Chester from Linkin Park passed. BMTH is easily one of my favorite bands now.
there is a hell is my favorite album by them, but ive come to the realization that it was the first album i listened to back when i was 14 so
How can you place at nº1 an album that’s not even out yet? Am I missing something?
exactly my thoughts. what's he basing it off? it doesn't make sense. also There Is A Hell in last place? Wtf
It never ends got my attention back in 2010 but first time I heard Shadow Moses in 2013 was almost like a spiritual moment for me 🥲 there hasn't been any other band for me since then (altho Bad Omens is slowy getting there)
Hey wait a minute. I'm the same age as the band and I ain't a junior in college. I'm not that old...
People forget that screaming can hurt your your vocals didn’t he have to get surgery on his vocal cords
I'm with you on Count Your Blessings. It sounds oddly good even though the guitars are super fizzy, drums are clicky, vocals are a bit muffled. But the organised chaos somehow makes it a real addictive sound. Really cool 'At The Gates' style riffs. Their metal influence really came through and it sounded way different to anybody else you're right. I think being British made them stand out slightly too because it would've been a completely different hardcore scene over there. Nostalgic album though, got me hooked because it sounded filthy but it had really cool metal riffs and solos that I was searching for.
There is no wrong BMTH list, because they have so many fans from all different preferences in music it means that everyone will literally have a different view on them. That being said I want to share my opinion, because that's the only important opinion that counts obviously:
1. Sempiternal
2. Post Human: Nex Gen (same reasoning Finn gave)
3. Post Human: Survival Horror
4. amo
5. That's The Spirit
6. Suicide Season
7. There is a Hell
8. Count Your Blessings (not a deathcore kinda guy, sorry core kids)
9. Music to listen to
havent listened to every bmth album but here is my ranking
1)sempiternal
2)there is a hell
3)sucide seasons
4)count your blessings
5)post human survival
6)amo
Remember discovering this band by ordering some album on CD and when it arrived they accidentally shipped me the there is a hell album and band tee as well.
There’s no best album
Just understand the great era cutoff starts with sand pit turtle
I have spoken
“ maybe it will be out by the time you watch this”.
It’s delayed till summer now :(
Met them here at home, Milwaukee WI. They were here for "suicide season" @ the rave. They did a small meet and greet before the concert. I got to shake all their hands and two autographed posters, which I lost. Wished Ollie a good show. Remember that night forever.
So glad you included Music to listen to... It's such a cool record and doesn't ever get any attention. It's definitely not for everyone but I love it!
When I started being a fan literally everybody hated them… I really don’t know when exactly that changed
Not gonna lie, I thought Oli was able to get so swole because he was so short..
immediately checked out at saying TIAH is their worst😂 absolutely stacked album with almost every track being a classic in their discography to any fan above the age of 16
Don’t know about ya’ll but I NEVER liked BMTH. However, you can’t be a metalhead and not like “Antivist” or “Diamonds aren’t forever”. 🤷🏻♂️ Anyone agrees?
They’re good. I clench my teeth when I listen to them because their music sounds really good but I feel too edgy than I’d like to lol. But again, it’s metal, it’s not meant to be classy.
I haven’t even started the video but I’m already outraged and you’re wrong
I interviewed Oli in 2019 and asked him to rank their records from worst to best. Here’s his list back then:
6. Count Your Blessings
5. There Is a Hell…
4. Suicide Season
3. Sempiternal
2. That’s the spirit
1. Amo
I remember, I went to JB hi-fi and picked up that EP, this is what the edge of your seat was made for, only because they had an interesting name. Still can’t figure out what the idea of each song was, but I still think it slapped.
I got into BMTH pretty late, like “That’s The Spirit” late but I’d went back and listened to their previous projects. Nonetheless, my favorite 3 are That’s The Spirit, Post Human and Amo.
There Is A Hell... is still my favorite Bring Me The Horizon album
Thank you for this. I get goosebumps everytime I hear count your blessings or suicide season, such important albums for me in my youth, and the scene at that time. Being a die hard BMTH fan, you got me to look at this subjectivity, and I agree with all of your picks.
Remember the roots "This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For"
BMTH pretty much has a song for every "vibe", and that's what I love about them
For me, from worst to best, it would be
- music to listen to
- amo
- Count Your Blessings
- There is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it. There is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret
- That’s the Spirit
- Suicide Season
- Post Human Survival Horror
- Sempiternal
As you said, BMTH doesn't makes bad music, I had a hard time getting hooked on amo as it was a big shift in BMTH sounds, but it grew on me.
That's The Spirit was somewhat of a shock when it released (I remember I was 13 at that time and just really got into metal with BMTH, listened to Marilyn Manson since I was 8 but never really got interested that much into metal before the release of Sempiternal)
I had a hard time liking it, but it really grew on me to the point that I really loves it now, it set the departure from being stuck in the metalcore era and I think it's the album where you can really start to hear Jordan's influence on the band. Yes he joined BMTH in 2012 and was obviously involved in Sempiternal, but I think he wasn't nearly as influential on Sempiternal as he's been since That's The Spirit
But for me the god tier album is Sempiternal, maybe its because it is a really sentimental album for me as I discovered BMTH when Sempiternal released, but even after listening to their whole discography over and over again and again (see what I did there lol), it's still my favorite album ever.
Overall they have been my favorite band ever since I got hooked into metal in 2013, and they never disappoint.
Can we all agree that at this point, it’s basically “Amen” and then everything else?
It wasn’t that long ago I was thinking Napalm death has been around forever, heck
I will miss Jordan Fish 😢
There Is A Hell is such a good album front to back, there's no way this is their worst imo
"I don't like the mix of pop and heavy, I want one or the other, no in the middle."
*puts Post Human at number 3*
I’m going to give this video a like just for the fact that you mentioned them bring in Nordstrom for Suicide Season. Almost nobody ever mentions that fact when discussing how ahead of the curve bring me was early on.
Finn's opinion is WRONG! /s
For me personally (who is not into the super brutal stuff):
8. Count Your Blessings
7. Music to... to
6. Suicide Season
5. There is a Hell...
4. Amo
3. Sempiternal
2. Post Human
1. That's the Spirit
Live at the Royal Albert Hall is also incredible; easily tied for 1 if we're counting it as an album.
Random fact: Scorpions started in 1960s but didn’t really become popular until 1985 and then dropped another huge album in 2006
I like how this vid just turns into Fin confessing how attracted he is to Oli Sykes 😂
lol There is a Hell is my favorite album, of course
you gotta have major balls to not put Sempiternal or That's the Spirit or at least Post Human at number one
9.Amo
8. Post Human
7. That’s The Spirit
6. Music To Listen to
5. There Is A Hell
4. Sempiternal
3. Edge of Your Seat
2. Count Your Blessings
1. Suicide Season
I love this list because it’s so different from a “traditional” BMTH tier list
Agreed! BMTH lists are usually so predictable
There's nothing wrong with the traditional tier list for BMTH albums. You can have your favorites, but don't ever lie to yourself and say Sempiternal is anything short of a masterpiece and the blueprint for any metalcore band. Lists like this one in this video are intentionally made this way to piss the fans off and they're not to be taken seriously.
Best to worst, the only right way.
- Suicide Season
- Count Your Blessings
- There is a Hell...
- That's the Spirit
- Sempiternal
- Amo
- Post Human: Survival Horror
as a long time fan since count your blessings or even who wants flowers when there dead the EP I think this is a solid positioning and love how they have progressed. Bonus points they got some heavy shit recently so I'm personally happy to hear that but overall not disappointed with anything they have put out. Solid ranking my friend!
Lee’s amp was broken for This is What the Edge of Your Seat was Made For
From least liked to most liked- that’s the spirit, edge of your seat, suicide season cut up, there is a hell, music to, sempiternal, amo, count your blessings, suicide season, post human 1
I can't beilieve he put music to listen to over 3 albums....
there is a hell is THE masterpiece by them
DUDE I'm back again - fuck yes, you put count your blessings at the top. I knew our tastes would eventually align Finn! Shout out to all of your content though man. Appreciate you!
Also, I really agree their newest stuff is the most interesting..... if you see this - can you please do a video on Senses Fail at some point. They need some more love.
Bold choices made respect. Sleep with one eye open is unrecognized proto-djent before Meshuggah worship took over.
Sepiternal was my favorite when it came out. They have live album out with a choir and orchestra and thats amazing too.
1. Posthuman survival horror
2. There is a hell
3. Amo
4. Sempiternal
5. That’s the spirit
6. Suicide Season
7. Count Your Blessings
Being a music purist sounds boring af, no offense. Genre blends and fusions are usually where the best shit is at.
Awesome. BMTH is my favorite band, so I can't wait to dig into this video.
Edit: Sempiternal that low is a crime, but I get that it is hard when they have soooooo many bangers.
