It's beautiful, up with solos of Insurrection, And Sadness Will Sear, Into the Mouth of Hell We March, and Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis. Trivium have surpassed most of their inspirations.
Bout time you started teaching online. You’re one of the best guitarists I follow. Psychosocial solo fits the song really well. I was impressed to hear it the first time. I did not realize he was playing like that.
Check out the bloodpack version when the had a funny flute thing in the beginning and Kerry's alternate solo he replaced after. It's a rare promo cd but I got it for you plus Aggressive Perfector
I used to daydream being able to play the "kissing the shadows" solo back in high school. 12 years of playing guitar later.. well I still can't play it for shit, but I can still daydream.
That goes for Randy and Cliff Burton. It’s such a damn shame their careers were cut short. Guess the same also goes for Dimebag. If there’s another world beyond this mortal plane of existence, I’d be willing to bet they’re probably jamming together for eternity.
Death is nothing but perfection... My favorite solo is on Killing Spree. Just fits the song perfectly. Also the solo on Spiritual Healing is mind blowing.

@@hamishmchamish Both are perfection. I could not pick one over the other but I am a huge fan of V. Campbel. He just made these memorable solos like it was nothing.
Dimebag's "The Sleep"! May be the best metal solo ever, and ironically may be the least known of his repertoire of great metal solos- which he is king of!
Are we going for more iconic or better solo? I feel like if I can hum all of the notes to a solo the phrasing is god tier, which is how I personally feel about psychosocial and Jim Roots solos in general
Might've picked "Pull Me Under" for DT seeing as it's arguably the only one of their songs that anyone who isn't a massive guitar/prog metal nerd knows (See; "Greatest Hit..." album). Absolutely Yes on the Mr Crowley solo. It's an absolute beast of solo. Hard to believe it's over 40yrs old. I would've put the Blackened solo, over One. Definitely S tier, imo.
As a guy who’s been listening to metal for almost 30 years but heard The River Dragon… relatively recently, I want to say this: it may not be iconic when you haven’t heard it, much like Nevermore isn’t a name most people would instantly bring up as a top metal band. However, after you’ve heard that build-up with the chugs playing in the back and the same pattern repeating with harmonies - bloody hell! That solo is so memorable, so full of (air)guitar-worthiness that your hands itch to learn it as soon as you hear it. And in that way it deserves to be way up there with the best of them. Definitely way above Psychosocial which I’m sure most people would struggle to play back in their head 10 minutes after listening to the song.
Kissing the Shadows will always be such an amazing solo, but honestly that riff under the keyboard section is just so much fun its my favorite part of the song

the best solos are the ones i cant play
Wish you chose domination instead of walk, it just feels more structured but it has that insane build into that chunky breakdown so it isn’t lacking in feel
Speaking of sweeping solos, I always thought that Trivium Detonation solo at the 3:22 mark always did a nice job of conveying emotion through sweeping
I feel you should have done Hanneman’s solo of Seasons In The Abyss.
Check out the bloodpack version when the had a funny flute thing in the beginning and Kerry's alternate solo he replaced after.
It's a rare promo cd but I got it for you plus Aggressive Perfector
Or Dead Skin Mask, I think it's Slayer's best solo
White Lion's "Wait" is absolutely killer
I am very much a fan of the solos on Tornado Of Souls, Holy Wars and a lot of Metallica songs.
I used to daydream being able to play the "kissing the shadows" solo back in high school.
12 years of playing guitar later.. well I still can't play it for shit, but I can still daydream.
Honestly one of my favorite solos ever is the one in The Devil's Orchard by Opeth.
Randy Rhodes - Leagues Ahead of His Time .... and he was only Just getting started when he Died!
His Lost Recordings were Crazy BADASS!
Rhoads... but I 100% agree. Nice take
That goes for Randy and Cliff Burton.
Not my funeral is my fav bodom solo, perfectly melodic and technical. I’m not a big solo person but that solo serves the song well.
It's wild that Kirk Hammet has one of the best solos in metal, in early days, but he couldn't bother to do more than dial it in on *72 Seasons*.
And hardwired. He really stopped giving a shit after the death magnetic album
@@mybluguitar6051 , sadly, yeah.
He made multiple of the best solos in metal. Ride the Lightning, Fade to Black, the Unforgiven, Welcome Home Sanitarium, One, and many more solos. He used to be pretty great at writing solos. It’s a damn shame that he’s become lazier and lazier over the years.
He had some kinda cool stuff on Death Magnetic but it seems he has given up the last time he had a stellar performance was on The Black Album
He did good on his solo album, theres something about the Metallica setup that just isnt getting the best out of him anymore.
Made me nervous about the "one solo", but top A is perfect...and idk what i would have chosen for slipknot, maybe duality, or before i forget
Vermilion solo is a masterpiece
Hannemans solo from The Antichrist by Slayer
I for sure thought that was an odd choice of Slayer solos to have on a list like this.
99% commentary, 1% guitar solo
For me mastering of the puppets is iconic
Better than entering of the sandman
@@VulgarBeyondSteel yes
As a huge Symphony X fan, that hurt a little. But honestly that is a stacked list, can't really blame Bradley here.
I cant believe you put Holy Diver in B! It simply belongs to perfection category.
I can't believe that Rainbow In The Dark wasn't chosen to represent Dio instead
@@hamishmchamish Both are perfection. I could not pick one over the other but I am a huge fan of V. Campbel. He just made these memorable solos like it was nothing.
Dimebag's "The Sleep"! May be the best metal solo ever, and ironically may be the least known of his repertoire of great metal solos- which he is king of!
Bro listens to the solo for 2 seconds
Copyright! 😂 In addition, he already heard the solos before.
Synyster Gates definitely has some of the most badass solos out there. 🤘🏼
Under A Glass Moon is S Tier for sure and that’s not even Petruccis best solo. Check out Lost Not Forgotten that solo kicks ass.
Are we going for more iconic or better solo? I feel like if I can hum all of the notes to a solo the phrasing is god tier, which is how I personally feel about psychosocial and Jim Roots solos in general
"In general" ? Please "hum" the solo for "Pulse of The Maggots" real quick 💀💀
@@WelcomeToTiltedTowers wow haha xD that’s crazy. Good thing he has memorable solos both in Slipknot and Stone Sour 💀 💀
Might've picked "Pull Me Under" for DT seeing as it's arguably the only one of their songs that anyone who isn't a massive guitar/prog metal nerd knows (See; "Greatest Hit..." album).
Plus that intro with the bendy harmonics that bleeds into the tapping that bleeds back into emotion is just...well. I think it's iconic for sure!
Hell of a list tho. 🤘
Forbidden - Through Eyes Of Glass or Toxik - World Circus would be some of my S-tier choices, or anything by Testament really
Okay if necrophagist could be on the list then the faceless should be. Pick ANY of the solos from any of the 3 movements of autotheism
Kissing the Shadows will always be such an amazing solo, but honestly that riff under the keyboard section is just so much fun its my favorite part of the song
