I do wish they expanded the sound on sempiternal, but the directions they have taken have been a breath of fresh air so I don't disparage one or two corny or cringe songs if the most is genuine care in the quality of the genres they are playing with. (Btw, I love the production on Amo, I thought That's The Spirit had better songs but lackluster production, I thought Post Human:Survival Horror was a better and more experimental Amo, but my heart always belongs to There Is A Hell). But really, they haven't disappointed me in their endeavors and I always look forward to a release of interesting music.

Funny how this almost turned into a therapy session for Finn, but seriously I loved it recently when Finn opened up about possibly being on the Autistic spectrum - as someone with Aspergers myself it's cool to see it talked about.
It's a double-edged sword, having a mind like that can be a struggle, but it is also probably what has made Finn such a hardworking, thoughtful and relatable content creator.

It's not pop! There's nothing pop with this.. Just because he SOMETIMES uses his clean voice and it's melodic doesn't make it pop. It just means they play good, it's 100% metal! alternative metal or metalcore... In flames, slipknot, trivium, metallica, anything heavy metal from before 1990 etcetc all them bands that sometimes uses their clean voice must all be pop to you aswell because they sure as hell are very melodic aswell. this arguement that keeps popping up that says they aren't metal is just ridiculous.... If lady gagy has some guy who did a growl in a song just once, does that make her music death metal then? Because it's the same logic people are alreayd using here -.-
JUST BECAUSE IT'S GOOD MUSIC IT'S NOT POP! if that's the case then pop isn't really a genre at all. it's just what is currently popular and what people like and that's not a genre, thats just stupid

What always amazes me is how every musical transition BMTH goes through is different from the last but still sounds like BMTH. They are my favorite band, and any time someone asks me to give them an example of what they sound like, I'm always at a complete loss. They are truly an enigma of a band that transcends "genre". Credit where credit is due though, I attribute a lot of their ability to make anything they want to Jordan Fish. His ability to compose so many different styles is a once in a lifetime talent. Not to mention Oli's absurd amount of talent not only as a vocalist, but as a frontman. They just refuse to miss.

After years of failed therapy and medications, I had a therapist in my late 20s teach me 1 of the most important lessons of my life. Normal and abnormal is subjective at the end of the day.
The "tastemakers" that call the 9-5 life, family of 3 with a SO and a house on the hill, is normal for them, the daily life for them. Someone like myself, that has had a near death experience at 15yo along with various "ACE" situations along side them. My life as an adult being "abnormal" was actually normal for me. It was just chaos. Like comfort can be destructive, so can normal be chaotic. We always see chaotic life changes as abnormal because it's different from what we assume everyone else is dealing with. In reality, everyone is dealing with a form of chaos. The only difference is, they find a way to repair it and start over. We keep stacking our chaos. Once that ends, the "abnormal" mode of living, will turn into normal.

Bmth is one of the few bands that have changed so much that I can listen to their entire discography and love and appreciate all of it. Im a sucker for a good recovery story and I think they are one of those bands that will be a legacy band one day. If forever 21 isn't already selling bring me shirts they will in 10 years, they will rise up in the mainstream and eventually be on top 40 radio, that's how big of an impact I think they'll go down making in music history. They can do pretty much anything. I draw inspiration from every stage of their music career in my own music because they progress and get better

As a frame of reference Metallica was making St. Anger 20 years into their career and had been following trends for 10 years already. These guys don't miss!

It’s funny that this is a big song by a big band because when we were kids (in England at least) we used to say Sugar Honey Ice Tea to like swear without swearing, like it’s a funny lame childhood memory haha

I saw them touring their debut EP in 2006, then Suicide Season in 2008 and I’d quite happily still go and see them now. Such an interesting band even if I don’t like every song they produce.

Dude, first great vid, I agree they could drop a country song at this point and I’d check it out. But seriously, thank you man. The way you explained that fight with your own brain helped me. I live with someone like that, have for many years now. It’s hard to relate with it to empathize, but the way you broke it down man…. Thanks

Lots of friends saying "yeah it's already been done 20 years ago, nothing new". Well, unfortunately I still search for any new rock bands doing alternative rock with great vocals and thicc choruses. Now it's "pop punk this, pop punk that, sad boy there" with not so great vocals, programmed drums and cold digital sounds. Rock is dead because the great singers went to other music styles and because, as Finn said, people are still chasing the Sempiternal era but way crappier. So what if this new song sounds like MCR / FIR / Yellowcard ? I think that's great, and I wish more rock bands did this. For now, I'll have to listen to japanese rock bands that still compete with great singers, energic rock riffs and catchyness (Mrs. Green Apple, Mafumafu, LiSA...)

Amo was my first exposure to BMTH. Great album; exactly the sound I was looking for. SHIT, Heavy Metal, In The Dark, Ouch, Nihilist Blues, etc. Everything else by them has been hit or miss for me. Kingslayer was great. LosT grew on me; catchy chorus.
"Relatable lyrics w/o glorifying [mental health and addiction]" My mind immediately goes back to early Sabbath and Ozzy songs: Hand of Doom, Diary of a Madman, etc.
Veil of Maya's new album has a song "Disco Kill Party" with similar hyper-pop vibes.
Amorphis is a band that's been around 20 plus years, switched their sound multiple times and is possibly more popular than ever (I mean, they aren't mainstream, but for a former melodeath band they seem to be doing well).

When I heard this for the first this morning I also got that hyperpop connection, and had to think about you right away, knowing you would like that. Gave me a ElyOtto vibe

My favourite thing about BMTH releasing banger after banger is the metalhead gatekeepers who hate on everything they do and complain about them not being Suicide Season or Count Your Blessings anymore. In 20 years BMTH will be considered one of the greatest rock bands to ever do it! For me, they already are

So you wanna see Olli do a crawly down the hally, so that we can see his bally?
And to also contribute something useful:
You said the hyperpop breakdown is something you ask yourself why nobody else did this some time ago. But isn't this exactly what 100 gecs did on on 10.000 gecs? I listened to lost and immediately thought of mememe.
This should not devalue the creativity in lost, it is still great and innovative. But the gecs generally deserve more attention for also being truly innovative.

I grew up with BMTH in their infancy through my teens and twenties. Now that I'm in my 30s, I'm finding that I'm not really vibing with this band's current releases. I like the music but the lyrical subject matter is still wrapped into mental health spiral that I can't relate to anymore. I'm not bragging or anything but I'm generally happy and proud of what I've accomplished so far. I will always be a fan of BMTH and I've never been a shitter about them changing. I don't think this song is bad either. I just figured I'd comment from the perspective of a fan who's been with them since their first EP when I found them on MySpace back in their infancy, at the age of 15 or something.

I'm not a fan of theirs but i see and can acknowledge that theyve been one step ahead. Amo was about 4 to 5 years ahead of its time, it sounds like a lot of the tiktok pop/rock crap thats coming out now like what MGK makes, and so does LosT
