I am so happy to be able to premiere my student film EDNÖRA with you today!!
I cannot express how proud and satisfied i am about this short!! It might be just a minute, but that one minute is the first and biggest accomplishement of my life. Being nominated at 3 festivals, winning 2 grants and winning best animated short of the year at swiff festival 2023 is the biggest honor i could have imagineD and hope for. It took me so long to get there but i feel it was so worth it!
I am truly truly grateful to everyone who supported me during the making of that hell job. I also want to take a minute to thank my family, friends, classmates, teacher and most of all, you folks who stick around followed and watched me grow slowly during 4 long years of labour. I would be nothing of what i am today if it wasnt from you.

This was an absolutely outstanding piece of animation. Wonderfully expressive, energetic, and choreographed. The way Jaizybel's face morphs so completely looks great, but I really have to hand it for you for that instant at 0:26 where she gets that magnificently wild and manic expression. Such a fantastic show of her character in that instant. The way her little crown follows her at every moment is such a fun detail. She's as expressive as the wisps, who on their own are brilliant in their personality and designs. The entire thing has a marvelous energy to it that really keeps things moving and gives you exactly as much story as you need to enjoy it.
I also have to give huge props to the backgrouns and the general style of things. It all just oozes scandanavian style, and that was even before the outro, whose art shift deserves equal praise. The rocks with the runic markings, the style of the stuff, even her coat and colour scheme all work together to convey the place and spirit of the location. And great use of the backgrounds at the 0:47 moment when she crashes into the tree and takes the snow on the head. You're an absolutely fantastic animator.
Okay, that must be the sweetest and most complete critique I ever had honnestly thank you so much! 🥺🥺. This goes straight up to pin📌 💕💕💕
With the sheer skill displayed here it would not surprise me if some animation department picks you up, you have alot of potential snd I hope you get too use all of it in your description you said it was one one minute but from what I know of animation this 1 minute was a journey of sleep deprived nights being tired and all those challenges but I can’t even imagine the satisfaction you felt when you finished the very last frame of the animation the feeling of it being completed must have felt intoxicating please keep at your journey artists regardless of popularity are respected and you are no different

The art style may be similar to Vivzie, but this wolf character doesn't actually "feel like" loona at all to me. They're both wolves obviously, but the visual and color similarity is akin as compared to spiderman and deadpool, and yet still have their own identity. I actually think the overall quality of the animation itself surpass Hellavaboss. This make me want to do my own animated short.. this is inspiring stuff!

@homedrawnstudios That’s because unlike Loona from that animated show aimed at adults that is a hellhound, Ednora here in this one aimed at kids, teens and young adults is a wolf!
But I wasn't thinking Luna. I was thinking JayJay (BlueJay; werewolf) from Die Young.
@@deshaunbethea5254 - My initial statement was meant to be purely from an observational POV.
While letting only the art speak for itself, both character designs side by side to most anyone who NEVER heard of loona and ednora will say they are two different characters (not species) despite their similarity in appearances. And that's my whole point.
True, one is a hellhound from an adult show and the other a wolf aimed at kids, but is not the point of a "visual appearance only" comparison of the two here. Realistically, are the creators of each going to always be there to tell every observer of such non-observant info? Of course not. Obviously, what is only visually observable can only speak for itself.
And as for the overall animation quality, that can only speak for itself too. In respect to both vivzie and those animators involved in her work (with which I also appreciate), the animation process employed for ednora in this thesis is far superior to that used for loona. But that's just my humble opinion being a traditional animator myself.
Just wanted to clear up that misunderstanding there, thanks.

This wolf radiates scrat energy, the lack of any speaking adds a lot of character.
The animation has a great flow to it,the art style is similar to Viviepop but the humour is more like something out of Disney

This gives Vivziepop if she were from Sweden and had better writing. Amazing I love it 💞
Edit: I just have to address this since the lot of y'all really don't get what I am saying and it is starting to quite annoy me. When I said "better writing", I was saying that I liked seeing this work and how it played out more than the recent episodes of Helluva Boss. Y'all can be mad all you all want but Vivziepop's recent work has not been up to standard, and I was complimenting this short film for being a consistently paced and simple piece. Joyark couldn't animate for a minute until the higher ups extended the film time. Also, I don't think you understand that this type of film, the story is up to your interpretation on why Ednöra wants the will'o the wisp. Y'all don't need something to be made for you for you to understand the short. Just had to make it clear because obviously I can't make a statement that isn't as long as the freaking Mahabharata 💀.

It’s good don’t get me wrong. But we don’t have to compare and put other animators down to acknowledge that. It’s very fluid and has a wonderful use of color and lighting. I really loved the expressions used too. Conveyed wonderfully devious emotions.

Well least for myself, while I did mention that the style reminded me of Vivziepop, I still very strongly praised the short itself. That and, at least for me personally, I intended the comparison as a complement.

The energy throughout the animation was definitely a style choice and I loved it! I was half expecting the wolf girl to go on all fours to chase the wisp down with how she was moving around. Fantastic work!

This clearly takes inspiration from Vivienne's work, but it does have a somewhat unique look to it; particularly in the backgrounds. The character movement is also reminiscent of old cartoons, but more solid and less rubbery. I'd be curious to see this develop into a unique style.

Everything is amazing! Your wolf is incredibly cute and the visuals+animation are S-Tier. The music is especially incredible, your composer nailed the silly & fun, fast-paced chase music :D

Short and sweet, I love the care put into this. The music also reminds me of some of the action music for How to Train your dragon, which I adore.

@@joyarktoons hell yea! I love stories! So many beginners have ambitious stories and ideas that are out of this world. Even I have amazing ideas, I just need to work hard like you did to make mine a reality.
It’ll take a ton of time and effort, just remember to pace yourself with it. And maybe don’t be afraid to drop a few banger anamatics.
Saw one channel that shared a 63 page slideshow full of their OC’s lore. And honestly it’s inspiring lol.

Like others have said, the style does like similar to Vivziepop’s, but Vivzie does not own an art style, no one does. You’re free to work in whatever style you feel comfortable with. You’re definitely going places with art and animation like this, keep it up

This short reminded me of an opening sequence of ducktales before the title theme plays, the style is very ducktales, it was awesome

When I tell you my jaw dropped while watching this- this is absolutely INCREDIBLE!? I'm trying to discover and learn new art styles, techniques, and other things at the moment and this just inspired me a WHOLEE LOTTT!! I absolutely love the legs for the wolf character! Skinny, tall and slimmer character always catches my eye because I find them pretty different to draw lol, so I'm glad to see this in a mini short film!

This film demonstrates how hand-drawn 2D animation can be more expressive and dynamic than 3D animation. I personally would love to see Pixar produce a hand-drawn 3D animated feature film with the amount of energy and expression as in your short film.

The part where they're trying to catch the sprite on the log reminds me of that scene from Diamond Jack where she's trying to grab the diamond.
I noticed it was the same choreography too! Such a great and subtle reference to another cool animation.
