I really like how Maulie and the Ace of Wands are foils to each other. They represent the opposing positive and negative meanings of the Ace of Wands Tarot card. Maulie representing the positive attributes; beginning of a journey, the birth of new ideas, and the initiation of creative projects. While Ace of Wands represents the negative attributes of his name's sake; lack of motivation, directionless, and creative blocks.
Nailed it! Tarot has always been an inspiration for my Dungeon Flippers writing. With the pilot, especially, I wanted Maulie and Cleaveland to 'flip' the story from Reversed Ace of Wands to Upright through their actions.

One of the most wholesome pieces of animation I’ve seen on the internet. Well animated, well voice acted, well written and very well paced. It takes its time and these characters are so wholesome. I’d love to see more
I like the unique concept behind a long-living wizard who has completely lost touch with his imagination (tragically contradicting his very motive) and how you explored this the whole episode instead of giving it away at the beginning
@TheNN I'm guessing one involves changing the spelling or phonetics of a word, and the other is simply arranging a sequence of words in a clever and multi-meaningful way?
Absolutely adored having the privilege and honor to work on this and voice Cleaveland! Travis you really made something TRULY special here and should be very proud my friend!!
I love the way his voice echoes when the Ace of Wands Looses himself to the Abyss. And how they echo slightly whenever they're in a dungeon or echoey space. The Sound team absolutely knocked it out of the park.
I really luv how immediately after spending an eternity creating the perfect wand the ace of wands couldn't even manifest a decent dungeon for executing plans within an infinite void that can bend to the will of the user's imagination. It really just goes to show that burnout can completely drain the inspiration and motivation out of even the most creative and determined of minds. Another reason like with many things why you should never be afraid to ask for help or advice on something. Also, IDK if this was their intention or not, but as someone who's probz at least a little bit on the autism spectrum I feel like this is something that people such as myself have an especially hard time struggling with, so I really do appreciate the representation.
@@theprofesionalist7927 Holy cow, that's it! I achieved most of my life's goals pretty quickly after graduating college and have just kind of been drifting for the past few years since then. I feel like I could have anything I want, but I kinda already have everything and I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do with the rest of my life. That is, of course, my problem to solve, but sometimes it's helpful to see that problem portrayed by a fictional character. Helps give me a bit or perspective.
@@webbowser8834 For me I'm just drifting cuz it's hard to find a job without have any relevant experience. Reminds me of Gravity Falls, and believe me when I say I love that show. The goofy idea of a dragon and a manticore as real estate agents is amazing to me. Hope this gets to become a full series!
I like for all that Cleaveland seems to be a more cynical character, he doesn't step on Maulie's dreams of restoring her family's ancestral dungeon to its former glory.
yah, it's nice to have less positive characters who aren't just jerks also, remember that they've been doing this for hundreds of years, too, lol, if they stepped on each other's dreams I don't think they'd be still doing it together
It's sad that large companies have created so many series with characters that follow these cliché formulas to the point where the only place we can find unique characters like him is indie animations.
Honestly, I really hope this gets the support it deserves. The premise is pretty new and interesting. The characters have pretty cute and recognizable designs. This feels like it would have a more episodic nature to it, but that would definitely be playing to its strengths. Love the backgrounds and lighting and the neat little layout blueprint quirk that Molly has. Overall 8/10 pilot. Keep up the great work!
after the ace of wands says "beneth me", the stone he kicked hit's a bucket and makes a "ba-dump-crash" cymbol sound. I didn't even notice that my first watch. I love the humor here and really really want it to continue
@Meman29384 true, but the setting is similar in style, so imagining "characters" that way is kinda par for the course. This was only the pilot episode, but I get the feeling there's going to be a power scale element to Guage if any actual fighting occurs
I have to say I appreciate that Maulie is feminine without coming across as bossy or controlling. A great depiction of a working professional female character who isn't incompetent or toxic. Very well done!
i mean to be fair when ppl call female characters bossy theyd call a male character assertive and praise him for the same behaviour so the problem there isnt so much in the portrayal mostly (tho it matters what stance the source material takes) but the viewers also.
@@DimT670 It's not just behaviour, it's also representation. Most assertive female character genuinely do come off as bossy even when not being that way because of this and I'm glad Dungeon Flippers got Maulie's assertive nature in a healthy light
I love how this pilot gives us enough information to understand the show without shoving too much in our faces. It perfectly lets us understand the first two characters, the premise and the structure, but still leaves us with lots to chew on for future installments.
This is an incredible pilot with a unique premise that has loads of potential for future stories! The animation is incredibly professional, the music was incredibly whimsical, and all the voices were spot on! Sara Champion was the perfect mix of optimistic charm and mystical manticore! Casey Chadwick was loveably sly and slick! Ryan Desrosiers was the perfect voice for an all imposing wizard that just wants to find his place in the world. Jake Dieli did a phenomenal job on the ethereal music! As did Gustav Holst and Travis Fowler! Congratulations on getting the pilot out and I hope you all can receive well deserved success!
Maybe not quite a cinnamon roll, but there was a good manticore in Disney's Onward. That movie went under a lot of people's radars, but I think it was alright.
One thing that really stands out from me besides how awesome everything else is the sound design. It's so clean and the sound effects help to make the world more tangible, like Maulie putting her paws together, you can hear it just a little. Plus her voice actor is amazing, it's like I can hear the fangs in her mouth, like how the characters in the Lion King SOUND like lions... y’know?
@Ducky69247 On the off chance you're not being facetious, it's referring to how one would anticipate a lion to sound if they could speak like humans. With humans, you can actually tell a lot by voice, with age being the most obvious. Sometimes, you can tell someone's size, whether they're on specific medications (opiates tend to change how tissues respond which can help quell coughing, but also change how your vocal cords sound), and so on. There are many subconscious traits we don't even realize we notice, too. Most people would probably imagine a lion having a husky, rumbling voice, such as Mufasa or Sarabi, for some examples. The teeth of the animal would absolutely play a role in how they might speak, as well as their snout. Larger animals would sound different to smaller animals. The list goes on.
I love the tarot symbolism with the 8 sticks when the Ace reappears, it's such a subtle but accurate piece of storytelling for his journey! Keep up the grand work!!
The thing I love is just how many of the puns feel natural in this world. They arent forced zingers, but just natural play on words or self inserting humor with commonish occurances.
God, I want to wake in the morning, grab some cereal, and turn on the TV, and watch this show while eating. It's really hitting all this great notes for a cartoon! The kid in me is loving the animation and charm, while the adult in me is laughing and dreading at a customer who's obviously going to be a problem. Hope there's more to come! And please let me do all I can to help out Maulie, I love her energy, and Cleaveland being a perfect character for her to bounce off of!
i love how fluid everyone is, how much detail is put into every inch of every scene. you never made even a microsecond feel untouched by passion. i'm excited to see more of this! especially maulie!
Aahhhhh!!! Congratulations to the entire team!! The characters are so much fun, the premise is genius, and the animation is GORGEOUS. Wonderful job all around! 🦁🐲
I know I'm pretty late, but I must say this series deserves way more views than it currently has. The art style is incredible, Maulie and Cleaveland are such amazing characters and are just so lovable and likeable, you can't help but want to see more of them. I really hope this show gets much more attention and love. Well done to the Dungeon Flippers!
I love how when the Ace of wands theme song starts playing Maulie and Cleveland just treat it like another normal day, like this isn't. The first time this has happened 😂😂😂
I watched this with my 6 year old brother, and he's been begging me to put on another episode! You've got both of us absolutely enamored! I'll definitely put in a donation when I can!
So glad YT randomly put this in my feed. The concept of fantasy real estate was too clever to ignore. I lack the words to convey how much and why I enjoyed this first of what I’m hoping will be many episodes
Commenting for the algorithm, but this series got recommended via Tumblr. This is an incredibly charming pilot, the animation is very clean and pleasing to look at, and I love the idea of “morbid fantasy monsters meets quaint real life occupation”. Maulie is a total sweetheart but I also like how Cleaveland is still a good supportive friend despite being a little more sarcastic sometimes; they have a great dynamic. I genuinely hope this kicks off to a great reception because honestly, I’m excited to see more of this and happy to see the potential of more creators uploading to TH-cam and keeping full control of the reigns on their projects.
Maulie has a really authentic voice in this that is charming. I feel like if this was a Cartoon Network show, her voice would be a lot more energetic, yet instead she sounds a lot more grounded. It gives the show a unique presence, and combined with the awesome soundtrack and animation, the show is super enjoyable. Great work!!!!
Fun details I found! The lack of inspiration of the Ace of Wands is the actual meaning of The Ace of Wands in Tarot. Sure, he starts willing to start the journey of moving but he lacks understanding of what makes him spark any feelings for what he will want, no passion after obtaining the most powerful wand he could. And after he knocks on the new castle’s door, he stands like the 9 of wands Card, BUT this better reflects the 8 of Wands card meanings: Obstacles and challenges removed, things falling into place, directions and goals, success in business, easier communication, celebration
A show about Fantasy Monsters selling dungeons as homes to other Fantasy Monsters is a very creative idea. Congrats on the launch of the pilot and here's to hoping that more episodes get produced in the future. 👍🎉
The fact we’re getting real estate agents in a fantasy world is proof to me that to modern people, being able to buy a house in this day and age is so difficult it’s become something fantastical, like the contemporary, upgraded version of the epic quest for the Holy Grail lol. Love the concept 😂
monsters/non-humans in slice of life scenarios is a gem for animation and all the more the merrier, and I think the theme of finding a home or helping people find theirs is such a wonderful premise, and i was not expecting the music to be so mesmerising. best of luck on all your future endeavours, both the animators and voice actors ^^
@@mermidion7552 I read the manga some time ago ^^ been meaning to watch the anime, monsters as main characters is always a win for me and manticores are heavily underrated ^^
You guys did an outstanding job on this Pilot! Everything from the animation to the music to the characters was amazing. I especially loved the focus on Maulie in this episode with her goals and what was being hinted towards the end for what we could expect for he story in the full series. But keep up the awesome work Dungeon Flippers crew!
The concept (fantasy/magic real-estate) ain't exactly new, I know at least a few others stories, but this is by far the most charming of them all! Having Maulie as a buffed manticore enthusiastic, charming and friendly, constrasting with her daydreaming and perfectionism (as in wishing to make a perfect doungeon herself but barely having the resources to even start) is interesting, although she also seems to be struggling of *what* exactly to do with her dungeon. Feels like how I feel when in a sandbox game: You can do WHATEVER you want!... But end up doing nothing. Relatable to say the least. Cleaveland on the other hand, doesn't leave much an impact. He gives a more chill-lax attitude, as a senior already tired but know the sticks to make a good sale without being overjoyed like Maulie, which also lead him to get stressed and overthinking when things go haywire. Both work together as good teammates, so it doesn't leave much to possible conflicts or headbutts between them if they agree with everything, even if perhaps a minor thing. I also enjoyed the symbolism of the Wands as in the tarot: 0:30 *Ace of Wands* UPRIGHT: Inspiration, new opportunities, growth, potential REVERSED: An emerging idea, lack of direction, distractions, delays (Ace summons the Wand which will lead him to do what he wants, but also leaves implicit his lack of knowing what he wants as a dungeon) 2:16 *Two Of Wands* (Guillotines) REVERSED: Personal goals, inner alignment, fear of unknown, lack of planning 2:30 *Three Of Wands* (Iron bars) REVERSED: Playing small, lack of foresight, unexpected delays (Both hinting Maulie's goal being far from completion due almsot all that) 4:54 *Four of Wands* UPRIGHT: Celebration, joy, harmony, relaxation, homecoming (people celebrating after the troll hunt) 5:53 *Five Of Wands* UPRIGHT: Conflict, disagreements, competition, tension, diversity (skeletons after a fight) 6:32 *Six Of Wands* REVERSED: Private achievement, personal definition of success, fall from grace, egotism (Ace feels out of place in the Witch King castle) 8:00 *Seven Of Wands* UPRIGHT: Challenge, competition, protection, perseverance (Ace attacking the wizard occupying the tower) 9:50 *Page Of Cups* UPRIGHT: Creative opportunities, intuitive messages, curiosity, possibility. (Maulie presenting the infinity posibilities of The Void) 10: 36 *Eight Of Wands* (Bricks) UPRIGHT: Movement, fast paced change, action, alignment, air travel and REVERSED: Delays, frustration, resisting change, internal alignment (Maulie charging towards Ace through the air feeling frustrated) 14:18 *Nine of Wands* UPRIGHT: Resilience, courage, persistence, test of faith, boundaries (Ace finally facing his existence living in his new home) 14:45 *Ten Of Wands* UPRIGHT: Burden, extra responsibility, hard work, completion REVERSED: Doing it all, carrying the burden, delegation, release (Maulie carrying alone all the materials to build her dungeon) The potential as any other indie-animation is incredible, making this one another with potential to make great things and leading to questions people who watched may ask: Why Maulie is doing the dungeon alone? What othe places and unique creatures looking for a home may appear? Will there be any antagonizing forces, like jerk coworkers, or a rival company? Having great hopes for this one!
@@Chentzilla the Wands motif? I already like symbolic stuff and Tarot Arcanas are often present in media, but although the Major Arcana (Fool, Chariot, Emperor, Lovers, Justice, etc) is more common, the Minor Arcana (Wands, Pentagrams, Cups and Swords) is rarer, seeing random wands and sticks tipped me off and after a research I found a site that shows these descriptions.
I recently purchased a home from the amazing Dungeon Flippers and its just a DREAM! Our place came with its own torture chamber, molten lava moat and wouldnt you know it? Even its own gaggle of fresh humans to terrorize in our basement! As struggling, underfunded overlords from the 12th dimension (Nevada), my wife and I are VERY busy monsters so we dont have time to maim, throttle or even ****** the local millennials in our area. Thank you so much, Dungeon Flippers! We give you 666 stars!
The Dungeon Flippers gave me new life they recently got me this new place for a kill of a price. Freshly furnished with bones, flesh, and organs all at premium condition, of course (rotting), this changed the lives of me and my 279 trillion children forever Thanks, Dungeon Flippers I rate them grobletombus out of 10 stars
I got a great mechanical palace What better place for a artificer to spend his days planning vengeance then surrounded by mighty copper walls and gears with an unstoppable army of platinum Best purchase ever I'll give it Flumph/10 stars
I am a summoner. Although I am old my sleprite race limits my age to 16. For years I thought that no dungeon could be my home. Most were either too old and boring or too modern for my taste (I have a contradicting nature). As a last resort I contacted Dungeon Flippers and OH. MY. SPELLS. This 13th century inspired castle has everything I need. The outside has a simple but charming look. The inside is renovated to perfection. Not too modern but not too goth either. The rocks are nicely polished, my hands have no trouble navigating it. It even has a self sustaining rat system for my bat summons. 5 out of 5 absolutely Tier S for Summoning.
The little Lady and I were looking for an upgrade from our starter dungeon, but our budget was modest and this market is a killer. The Dungeon Flippers found us an awesome place in a mountain with lots of tunnels, a real waterfall (absolutely necessary for breeding certain kinds of minions), in a neighborhood with no fairies (you know they can do to property value 🙄) and (this is the best part) a rift to the Plane of Earth. Related: anybody know where I can find some kobolds? I hear they're the minion you want for mining
I love this kind of premise that comes from the monsters perspective. Love the character designs and more so I like how NOT frantic this show is compared to a LOT of other modern animation. Also Maulie's run cycle kills me, lol!
You get two choices: niche (underfunded and overworked, but genuine) or main (well funded with a team, but bigger, more rabid fanbase that poses the threat of audience capture)
THIS PILOT IS SO GOOD AND THE CHARACTERS FEEL LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR 😩??!! like they are grounded and not toxically positive like every other show and I LOVE THAT

@@dungeonflippers2970 Np there. The scenary and its colorful characters are vibing to the story. I love how settling and peacful it can feel. I've seen this pop up in my recommendations a few times and finally decided to give it a chance. For a pilot, this is incredibly thoughtful. The animation is very well done with unique character designs and a lovely cast of voices. The characters have a sincere charm to them, keeping you curious and entertained. I thought Maulie would be another annoyingly chipper and cliché protagonist yet she turned out to be very down to earth with a clear motive that could carry the show. If there is hope for this pilot to expand to what could make for an incredible series, you have our full support! One miracle at a time.
I loved this pilot!!! It was even better than I hoped. Maulie’s struggle to find the perfect house for the Ace of Wands was a great way to establish her character as not only an estate salesperson but also as a person. Cleveland as well always in to the side but never out of focus as he helps Maulie deal with her struggles and is not afraid to call her out for any mistakes. We only got glimpses of who Cleveland is but what we have now pretty well established him as the calm and experienced mentor and partner to Maulie and her eager optimism and frustrations that it leads to. Overall, great job with this pilot and I would love to watch even more of this as a series.
Great first episode. The Void had a really neat concept and our main characters are as endearing as I hoped they'd be. Very interested to see if "the team" that Cleaveland mentioned will get expanded upon.
I managed to sneak in the Ace through the 10 of Wands on all the story beats! That and the episode goes from reversed Ace of Wands to upright over the course of episode. Yep, this was a VERY tarot pilot!
Love this. I love dnd and all things fantasy and I love tropes being turned on their heads. A manticore who doesn't like violence, a wizard with no imagination. Love it and hope this becomes a full series ❤

Her ears are too big its taking up 1/3 of the screen all the time
yeah, first time i saw the smoke i thought "wait, what, he smokes?"
Is maulie a manticore?
One of the most wholesome pieces of animation I’ve seen on the internet. Well animated, well voice acted, well written and very well paced. It takes its time and these characters are so wholesome. I’d love to see more
I like the unique concept behind a long-living wizard who has completely lost touch with his imagination (tragically contradicting his very motive) and how you explored this the whole episode instead of giving it away at the beginning
I guess wizards can have artist block too.
Isn't his motive just to wreak havoc on the human race?
@@cartooncritique6625 I mean, they don't call it the magical arts for nothing.
Oh wow, "Corpses to clean up" was a really good pun! Hoping to see this become a full series for more fantasy humor like that!
It's more word play but I get what you mean. I also want to see more of this.
As a wise woman once said, "It's not a pun, it's a play on words!"

@TheNN I'm guessing one involves changing the spelling or phonetics of a word, and the other is simply arranging a sequence of words in a clever and multi-meaningful way?
I don't get it, could you explain it?
Absolutely adored having the privilege and honor to work on this and voice Cleaveland! Travis you really made something TRULY special here and should be very proud my friend!!
You're probably the best Cleaveland in this entire show tbh
really? you sound like James Woods's Hades, for a moment I thought I was listening to him
Indeed
Holy crap dude, you pull off James Woods's voice nearly perfectly.
I've never had a voice bring back my childhood like that.
Good job on voicing Cleveland. If you ever want to work together, please let me know.
This just popped into my feed out of nowhere and I’m instantly in love with all of it. I REALLY want to see this project continue.
I love the way his voice echoes when the Ace of Wands Looses himself to the Abyss. And how they echo slightly whenever they're in a dungeon or echoey space. The Sound team absolutely knocked it out of the park.
I was really happy with how that came out. thank you!

Reminds me of Gravity Falls, and believe me when I say I love that show. The goofy idea of a dragon and a manticore as real estate agents is amazing to me. Hope this gets to become a full series!
It's more owl house mix with over the garden wall to be accurate
I like for all that Cleaveland seems to be a more cynical character, he doesn't step on Maulie's dreams of restoring her family's ancestral dungeon to its former glory.
yah, it's nice to have less positive characters who aren't just jerks
also, remember that they've been doing this for hundreds of years, too, lol, if they stepped on each other's dreams I don't think they'd be still doing it together
It's sad that large companies have created so many series with characters that follow these cliché formulas to the point where the only place we can find unique characters like him is indie animations.
I mean, He’s a dragon and he’s working for a real estate company. He might also have dreams of restoring his family’s ancestral dungeon or something.

The lightbulb over her head being a torch got a legitimate belly laugh out of me. This is really fun and creative, and I’m SO here for more!

after the ace of wands says "beneth me", the stone he kicked hit's a bucket and makes a "ba-dump-crash" cymbol sound. I didn't even notice that my first watch. I love the humor here and really really want it to continue
OK, I did NOT imagine that.
It's in the subtitles too as badum tiss
Whenever I see a video of indie animation pilots I never see this one which is a crime. This is criminally underrated and I can’t wait to see more.
the Ace of Wands is a nice commentary on how "overinvesting" in a trait leaves you sort of ... hollow.
or rather, having finally reached your goals with no other goals ahead of you
Bro this ain’t an rpg they ain’t no skill points
@Meman29384 true, but the setting is similar in style, so imagining "characters" that way is kinda par for the course. This was only the pilot episode, but I get the feeling there's going to be a power scale element to Guage if any actual fighting occurs

I have to say I appreciate that Maulie is feminine without coming across as bossy or controlling. A great depiction of a working professional female character who isn't incompetent or toxic. Very well done!
Hard agree. Love her voice actor's performance too. Adds a great soft but firm tone to the character!
i mean to be fair when ppl call female characters bossy theyd call a male character assertive and praise him for the same behaviour so the problem there isnt so much in the portrayal mostly (tho it matters what stance the source material takes) but the viewers also.
@@DimT670 It's not just behaviour, it's also representation. Most assertive female character genuinely do come off as bossy even when not being that way because of this and I'm glad Dungeon Flippers got Maulie's assertive nature in a healthy light
but is also a manticore, which is genius.
i like her,she is neat
I love how this pilot gives us enough information to understand the show without shoving too much in our faces. It perfectly lets us understand the first two characters, the premise and the structure, but still leaves us with lots to chew on for future installments.
Just rewatched this. Man... you all are awesome. I love this.
It is so refreshing to see a show that uses witty comedy without abusing it every minute. Cant wait for the next episode 😊
Okay but that sequence with the memories making the castle??? Genius, I absolutely adored how creative that was!!
Seriously. It’s such a cool visual!
Randomly came across this but may this show blow up! It's so cute!
Maulie is the first manticore to be a precious cinnamon roll, and I'd love to see her reach her goal as a real estate agent.
I know she is amazing
Maybe not quite a cinnamon roll, but there was a good manticore in Disney's Onward.

The dynamic Cleaveland and Maulie have is really entertaining!
One thing that really stands out from me besides how awesome everything else is the sound design. It's so clean and the sound effects help to make the world more tangible, like Maulie putting her paws together, you can hear it just a little. Plus her voice actor is amazing, it's like I can hear the fangs in her mouth, like how the characters in the Lion King SOUND like lions... y’know?
What a lovely compliment, thank you!! (I had the immense privilege of voicing Maulie.) She is always so fun to step into the shoes of!
You made me think "Do they actually sound like lions in Lion King?" and then I realized I never saw it with the original English voice acting.
Knowing of course that lions don't speak, I don't know what they mean when they say anyone sounds like lions.
@Ducky69247
On the off chance you're not being facetious, it's referring to how one would anticipate a lion to sound if they could speak like humans.
@@ElysetheEevee no, not being facetious, but still not going to read a novel about how you feel about what you said
I love the tarot symbolism with the 8 sticks when the Ace reappears, it's such a subtle but accurate piece of storytelling for his journey! Keep up the grand work!!
A complete story with actual character development in less time most shows take to explain basic known concepts. Amazing work.
The thing I love is just how many of the puns feel natural in this world. They arent forced zingers, but just natural play on words or self inserting humor with commonish occurances.
Ace of Wands has a very adorable design. Like when he was smiling at the end, it made him look both vulnerable and cute.
Glad I am not the only one who thinks that! I really wanna hug him so much aaaahhh
I love that this works both as a standalone and a first episode! Hopefully we'll see more of it in the future
God, I want to wake in the morning, grab some cereal, and turn on the TV, and watch this show while eating. It's really hitting all this great notes for a cartoon! I love how when the Ace of wands theme song starts playing Maulie and Cleveland just treat it like another normal day, like this isn't. The first time this has happened 😂😂😂
It probably isn't even the first time a wizard came in with one
Every wizard should have a theme song
Well he IS an archmage, they have to have a good entrance to make a first impression
He WAS living in a wasteland. If he did that, I would go along with the themesong XD

THIS IS SICK
I see that more and more webshows start popping up and i love every single of them!
I love magical & medieval type settings, I hope this series continues.
The dynamic between the agents and VAs for them are really great! Really hope we can see more.
This was fantastic! The animation.. the voice acting... the PACING! Such a unique concept for a show. I hope you guys continue!
And after he knocks on the new castle’s door, he stands like the 9 of wands Card, BUT this better reflects the 8 of Wands card meanings: Obstacles and challenges removed, things falling into place, directions and goals, success in business, easier communication, celebration
please do not abandon this series this was an excellent watch and the series has so much potential! too many cool pilots dont get follow up episodes.

I really love these sorts of series that apply a more "modern" tone to Fantasy Dungeon/Adventuring settings
I also enjoyed the symbolism of the Wands as in the tarot:
0:30 *Ace of Wands*
UPRIGHT: Inspiration, new opportunities, growth, potential
REVERSED: An emerging idea, lack of direction, distractions, delays
(Ace summons the Wand which will lead him to do what he wants, but also leaves implicit his lack of knowing what he wants as a dungeon)
2:16 *Two Of Wands* (Guillotines)
REVERSED: Personal goals, inner alignment, fear of unknown, lack of planning
2:30 *Three Of Wands* (Iron bars)
REVERSED: Playing small, lack of foresight, unexpected delays
(Both hinting Maulie's goal being far from completion due almsot all that)
4:54 *Four of Wands*
UPRIGHT: Celebration, joy, harmony, relaxation, homecoming (people celebrating after the troll hunt)
5:53 *Five Of Wands*
UPRIGHT: Conflict, disagreements, competition, tension, diversity (skeletons after a fight)
6:32 *Six Of Wands*
REVERSED: Private achievement, personal definition of success, fall from grace, egotism (Ace feels out of place in the Witch King castle)
8:00 *Seven Of Wands*
UPRIGHT: Challenge, competition, protection, perseverance (Ace attacking the wizard occupying the tower)
9:50 *Page Of Cups*
UPRIGHT: Creative opportunities, intuitive messages, curiosity, possibility. (Maulie presenting the infinity posibilities of The Void)
10: 36 *Eight Of Wands* (Bricks)
UPRIGHT: Movement, fast paced change, action, alignment, air travel
and
REVERSED: Delays, frustration, resisting change, internal alignment
(Maulie charging towards Ace through the air feeling frustrated)
14:18 *Nine of Wands*
UPRIGHT: Resilience, courage, persistence, test of faith, boundaries (Ace finally facing his existence living in his new home)
14:45 *Ten Of Wands*
UPRIGHT: Burden, extra responsibility, hard work, completion
REVERSED: Doing it all, carrying the burden, delegation, release
(Maulie carrying alone all the materials to build her dungeon)
The potential as any other indie-animation is incredible, making this one another with potential to make great things and leading to questions people who watched may ask: Why Maulie is doing the dungeon alone? What othe places and unique creatures looking for a home may appear? Will there be any antagonizing forces, like jerk coworkers, or a rival company? Having great hopes for this one!
How the hell did you pick up this?
@@Chentzilla the Wands motif? I already like symbolic stuff and Tarot Arcanas are often present in media, but although the Major Arcana (Fool, Chariot, Emperor, Lovers, Justice, etc) is more common, the Minor Arcana (Wands, Pentagrams, Cups and Swords) is rarer, seeing random wands and sticks tipped me off and after a research I found a site that shows these descriptions.
