    i love how you can understand the story through visual implications alone, no big flashbacks or dialog needed. the man’s daughter died and he was using the moonseeker to see her again, but by keeping it trapped in the barn, he was inflicting his own pain on the moonseeker’s parent. the fire was a result of him being able to move on, and by letting the moonseeker go and reunite with it’s family, it represented the man letting go of his daughter and finally being able to move on with his life

    • @OilyOaf
      @OilyOaf ปีที่แล้ว +20

      What do mean ‘represented’ that’s literally just what happened

      @@OilyOafThe man letting the moonseeker go was literal; the man letting his daughter go was figurative. The former represents the latter.

    Ough, new creature design fave. Love that weird griffin moth thing.
    Also, I feel like that wasn't even really his daughter, entirely. Considering how minimally reactive she seemed to be, I feel like she was more of an... echo, maybe? Something born of his own mind, or something. Certainly it was not something lasting in any way. Interesting how it seemed the creature forgave him in the end; perhaps it understood on some level what he wanted. That doesn't make what he did okay, but he came to the right conclusion in the end.

    • @jgunner280
      @jgunner280 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is strangely something I was considering. Like if he never had a daughter but wanted it, and somewhere that desire and sympathy was placed into a griffin that he was keeping away from its parent.

    • @Neganium
      @Neganium ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jgunner280 I personally think that he HAD a daughter, once; just that, whatever that thing was, it wasn't entirely HER, if any part of her existed within it at all. It felt more like the memory of her, and his expectations of her; she behaved how he remembered her to be, but had little more complexity than that. Though admittedly, that could be because she was simply a young girl... I don't feel that explains the lack of reaction to the peril her father and the creature were facing, though. Still, all of this is very interesting.

    People like you inspired me to study Illustration and Animation too, it's such a wonderful art.
    This short is amazing, the lighting, the design of the beasts, the man's story...
    I'd love to be a part of a sequel MAP, although I'm sad to say that my experience with animation is quite limited so far since I only just started to learn. Well, there's always next time, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project though, it's always thrilling to see so many different styles come together.

    • @xenotundra3346
      @xenotundra3346 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the bat wings are an interpretation of that author, its commonly a motif of evil - this is exemplified by the fact that those wings only apear in the illustration of a fight with such a creature. The real animals obviously have feathered wings, so much more than a dragon theyre likely closer to griphons.

    • @hannahdeards9652
      @hannahdeards9652 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi! I go to the same uni which produced this (well, the students did). We get about half a year to work on our film pitches. In final year, the chosen films form groups of around 8-9 people. We get about 2 and a bit months of preproduction, where everyone gets to bring their specialty and their own ideas to the film. We are uninhibited by a budget, or a film that we have to find an audience for, so of course, our creativity can run as wild as we want. A film like this would cost a LOT to produce if it was made by full time professionals in a studio and is audience is kinda film festivals and youtube - it's AMAZING but at this length, a bit hard to market. It's all about finding an audience and demand unfortunately. I hope that helped answer your question

    • @superfightingrobotmkx7776
      @superfightingrobotmkx7776 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hannahdeards9652Well if animation teams can’t let their imaginations run wild, maybe the film industry needs to make some changes. I’ll bet a full length movie with the same emotional depth and imagination as this would attract a big audience. It’s basically an untapped market.

    I feel like the Moonseekers were, in some way, his departed family. Maybe that's where creatures like them come from.

    Wow, this is entrancing. The moonseekers (if that's what the creatures are called) are so emotive and beautiful! Everything is so smooth and pairs together with the music and sound perfectly! This looks like a short film that would play before a movie.

    This is legitimately beautiful! The art style was phenomenal, the direction and framing was excellent, and don't even get me started on the score! This gave me Ori vibes, which are some of my favorite video games ever, and I couldn't be happier about it. All these amazing TH-cam animations we get to watch for free from extremely dedicated people gives me hope for the entertainment industry.

    This reminds me of Chupa from Netflix. But honestly it would be better written if Chupa had abilities like the Moonseeker.
