Using an OPNA config, the sound seems identical to this video, except for having a slightly slower tempo; the music which takes about 3:13 to play here takes about 3:30 in my Hoot setup.
(Hey, let's reply to my own comment from over 12 years ago! :D ) So, I've been listening to this again with an up-to-date (hah!) Hoot version and config, and better understanding of Hoot's settings and how they work. This time I set Hoot to use a PC-9821 config (meaning a 386 CPU instead of a 286) with a "-86" sound board (based on the Yamaha YM2608 OPNA chip), which is pretty much the sort of system ZUN intended according to the game's Japanese docs. (I also used the correct OPNA sampling rate of 55466 Hz). There's no longer any tempo difference-it's exactly as fast as in this video, though I'm not exactly sure why the tempo was different in the first place.
I'm using the latest Hoot version, along with the config updates and other data available from the Hoot Archive; as I said, the driver type is changed from "opn" to "opna".
