- Hello ! Today I post the Makai route of HRtP.
I find this game very funny and It's have been a long time since I wanted to 1cc Makai route on lunatic.
Only the 5 first stages are the same, so I choose to upload a full run.
You gain a life every 400 000 points and this is what a bomb gives you approximatively. When you loose a life, you get a bomb,
So the tip is : Don't bomb the boss and bomb once every stages until you have full life bar. In order to reach the state of " full life and full bomb ".
Try to not let the ball touch the ground. It is more important than P ballon. With this strat, if you reach 4 lives at stage 5 boss. You can potentially beat the game.
You can drop randomly bombs during stages.
They are rare but they are always welcomed.
Also, bosses takes damages only and only when you play your last life. So make sure to have 4 bombs when you loose a life before your last one... then ...BIG RUSH
Well, It's a game that nearly everyone knows. It's enough I guess.
It's also a game which it is hard to not make any mistake in a single run.
This one have this part of fail, but btw, 1cced with 3 starting lives :)

Man there is so much trivia, historical references, and deep mysteries about this game, it's actually a real artifact.

To be honest the more you think about it.. it could possibly be. Sariel is an angel of death and if it encountered Reimu. It could have been that Sariel was trying to actually kill Reimu. When a fallen angel tries to kill you yet you don't die. Somehow, you already should have been dead by the encounter. That means this entire time Reimu is "solving incidents..." She's really supposed to be dead... If that's the case then Damn Touhou can be dark..
Also even though it was ZUN's first game it definitely seems like he planned everything. I also think Sariel was the only person along with maybe Konngara that Reimu actually killed. ZUN is such a damn genius if that's the case. He made Sariel so badass too
nah I don't think the "plot" of HRTP is relevant. I mean, ZUN didn't even planned things like Gensokyo, youkai incidents, spellcards, Hakurei barrier stuff. He was just trying different things with SoEW later. Even among the PC-98 games, HRTP is different (the only things in common are Reimu and Mima). SoEW was a reboot, then EOSD was another reboot and started a new cannon. HRtP is... out of place. It's a fun game on an old computer and nothing more
Imagine if this came out in arcades in the 80s instead of on a semi-obscure Japanese PC in 1996.
I say obscure, but definitely not so in Japan.

It's just literally a random table lookup hooked up to an output. In layman's terms, it's literally WHITE NOISE. and you hear a scream in that because it has a low bit rate. Come the f' on.

From how the battle scenario changed, it seemed like they could easily alter reality. A really powerful enemy.

Well, I think the end is where Reimu's Yin Yang ball orb turns back into fairy, and was only used for practice. Someone may have given Reimu the orb to practice with. It may have been the past shrine maiden or someone else. When the orb turns into the fairy, Reimu thought she could sell it for money. The fairy had been trapped by maybe the previous shrine maiden that I mentioned earlier, and was kept there for punishment until Reimu had finished. Good enough??
Reimu thinks the fairy is a wish-granting fairy, and asks for money, cake, shrimp tenpura on rice, the true meaning of the nature of the universe, and the destruction of the earth.
The fairy is taken aback and says "who would ask for that!!"

This game is actually harder than PCB and EoSD or MS, I don't know if it's the unusual gameplay but it is the one touhou game I'm too casual to even get to the final stages
In my opinion, I think it is easier than the games where you just shoot them up, there's a good chunk of exploitive corners one can use to chip away hp from the bosses and the ability to destroy enemy bullets just give the player so much more to work with.

Yup, too bad this game aged poorly and is kinda eh, though
I mean it is, but I'd just rather play a well made shmup than play an unfinished college project like this, even if the concept is cooler, this game was just frustrating to play through and through, comparatively, LLS (besides the EX stage) and MS are a whole lot more enjoyable.
It's like with IaMP, I'm a sucker for fighting games but holy hell that game's mechanics are so insane I'd just rather play a shmup instead.

Yup especially with the most badass final boss. Literally Sariel is such an amazing final boss and is on a different league.

There was so much christian symbolism in the first touhou, i'd say it is quite ironic since gradually it lost significance to the point of not even being mentioned at all most of the time
I mean Pc-98 main core was Christian by that time, just look at Sariel, Yumemi and Shinki (also Marisa and Mima). Destinations in PC-98 isn't even that Japanese at all unlike Window

HRTP is different from other touhou game's,not because of the style of gameplay (reimu's IaMP move's are based around this game.specially her spell(wind god kick)that looks really similar to reimu's back flip kick.or reimu's bouncy ying yang from PoDD and PoFV)but because of story.the story of this game is never revealed,some the bosses from this game are originated from western mythology and folklore (sariel,elis)and some of them are inspired from other manga's and games (reimu that looks similar to sayo chan and elis from kiki kai kai.the background girl from fallen temple from a game called(tournament of god's (NSFW))sariel pentagram that is based around shin megamei tensei logo.sariel herself came from a game that also is(NSFW)and the mountain walker(hell route)that also is based around another manga).also another thing that is weird is the fact that this game is not having a connection to other PC_98 game,even doesn't have connection to SoEW,the game that hrtp came along side on comikat 52.this game was called(study project)afterall.so it means this game exist to be exist's.is an official touhou game but is not effecting anything in touhou storyline.this game also created many mysteries that include: Christianity in makai mima's grudge

it's like, at first I thought this isn't like traditional Touhou game, which you have to work on that frustrating balls whole time, then at the stage of fallen angel(Sariel) she literally does same thing what other Touhou bosses do. releasing tons of projectiles. what's the point for using that really annoying balls then? it's like trying to dunk a basketball when everyone else is throwing eggs at you.
