Okay that last one is a bit extreme, but... it is. This is the true glory of the PC-98 era. SUCK ON THAT, WINDOWS. TOUHOU DOESN'T NEED FANCY GRAPHICS AND DECENT MUSIC SOFTWARE TO BE AWESOME.

In the Touhou franchise, where final bosses are usually high-leveled youkai with haxxed powers, nobles, immortals, gods, or youkai given god-like powers, the hardest one is an 18 year-old human.

The Spell Card system was put in place after Touhou 1, if anyone died after that it was because the fought without the system(which was still new at the time, it would have never been followed by any yokai if Reimu didint make allys with top tiers in that era aka Yuka and Mima)
I'm realizing that Rikako and Yumemi are foils to each other.

They both even have generic last names. It's great.
P.S.: Patchouli probably would think they're both idiots, at least as far a separating the two goes since she considers the two the same thing.

@KvAT Magic is what opposes science it is not a branch of it and it inherently wouldn't make scientifically sense. That is what Patchouli doesn't understand due to her misunderstanding of Science though luckily she isn't alone in that misunderstanding.
If people could use elemental magic and it went against the laws of physics and there isn't a way to write the laws of physics around it without specifically stating that elemental magic would be the exception then that would make magic and science separate. The difference with gravity is that gravity makes sense and work in tandem with other forces making it not magic.

Well actually historically an upside down cross was just a upside down cross. Only recently was it ever associated with Satanism.

The face she makes here sums up the nightmare she is absolutely perfectly. Yumemi is, and by very far, Touhou's hardest final boss. And unfortunately, mostly because of unfair, cheating AI and random bullets.

@@YuuyaKZMI would be neat to see more outside world threats... considering yokai need fear/belief to live in addition to other upkeeps if i understand right and the barrer is to keep the outside worlds influence away... i wonder if enough humans from the outside world would be like poison to the inhabitents. an area where "magic" becomes "mundane". could be hard to fight against if entrenched.

You can find a playlist of the soundtrack complete on TH-cam, it was made by JynX. He also made Fools Rush In as mentioned earlier, but that only comes with 2 musics. The rest you gotta buy his CD/download the tracks from TH-cam and follow the steps that the game provided to implement the musics inside the game. Send me a message (or DM me on Discord @Ryann1908#9434) and I'll give you a ZIP file of all the tracks placed in their proper order and instructions to put them in-game.

@Terraria Heaven Well, it's not completed yet, but it is in progress (and has been for some time). We've been in development hell for a bit, haha.
@Terraria Heaven That's a good question. It's swapped languages and frameworks over the years. It's had forms in Godot and primarily GameMaker:Studio. Now we're not sure what direction to take with its engine, but I have some potential plans. I appreciate the offer for help, but we have quite a few hands on deck...possibly too many! But I'll be sure to let you know when we've got something to show!

Zun's music has changed a lot over the years but its hard to say if he really got better, even in the 90's he was making such masterpieces
Nahh, I think he got better. This theme does show promise but it is too repetitive with that downward descend note arpeggio section.
Don't get me wrong, I love some of the 98 tracks, like dream land, lotus love, Alice maestra, inevitably forbidden game, sleeping terror, inanimate dream, etc. But his windows themes are just better in general. His works from touhou 6 to 12 being my favourite, touhou 13 to 18 do have some bangers but I usually find myself only liking 30 % of the newer game pieces, whereas the old games i usually like 90 % of any given ost or the whole thing (the entirety of PCB slaps, everything in SA does tok except i just don't like stage 2s theme from that game)
He got more skilled, but i think due to the simplicity his old music is more consistent

I believe this is called Strawberry Crisis because strawberries are a red color, and Yumemi is dressed in all red, her eyes are red, her hair is red-- most of where color should be on her body is coated in red. the Crisis part comes from the fact that she caused about 9 or more(I can't remember at the moment) inhabitants of Gensokyo to come looking for her Probability Space Hypervessel, only to realize that she was simply attempting to take that person with her and bring them home to study their use of magic. this would be a Crisis for the victim, no? and the Crisis is caused by a certain Strawberry.... Yumemi Okazaki. so yeah. She is the Strawberry Crisis!!

Though I think the strawberry part is intentional, ZUN actually stated that he intentionally gave one of the hardest final boss themes in the series the name "Strawberry Crisis!!" because it sounded so juxtapositionally stupid.

She's probably my favourite too. She has the position of ninth boss in a Touhou game only matched by Shiki Eiki, and she has no magic so she does it all by science which is amazing, and she has a great design on top of that!

In Yumemi's world, all the forces such as gravity, electromagnetism, and atomic power have been resolved under a unified theory, which has been proven to explain all known forces in the world. Yumemi believes there may be a force that doesn't fit in this theory - "magic". However, when she announced her theory to the academic community, she became a laughing stock.

"Well, I guess this is the last boss theme. I had a hard time with this one. Well, it turned out, so I guess it went well in the end. JUST finished my first 1cc of a touhou game in the 4 year history of me playing them....and it was PoDD, with Mima on easy....on my phone using RetroArch.....the tiny screen was a pain in the ass but you have NO idea how satisfying it is to beat the toughest boss in all of touhou with one life left on a tiny ass screen....I would have screamed if my friend wasnt calling someone XD

Well historically, crosses were used for crucifixions (ie nailing someone up and leaving them until they either bleed to death or suffocate), so. Sure nowadays they're more just a religious symbol for Christianity, but even then, biblical texts use the cross exclusively for execution.

Touhou 1-5 Theme Has been Forgotten ,but the memory still reminded. ^_^
I think out of every PC-98 theme this is the one remembered for going hard alone. Compared to every other pc-98 themes that either end up being tied to a character that is still remembered today or is tied to a popular arrange that people comeback to the original just to listen, this one is beyond perfect alone and is a hell of a banger even today.

If you start reading the fruit facts in Fruit Ninja (even in free version), it will eventually mention something very particular about strawberries that proves that ZUN did his research for PoDD!
There is no doubt in my mind that this is, and forever will be my favorite TouHou song.
The true profoundness of ZUN's genius truly does amaze me at times.
I'm gonna be perfectly honest, I have yet to even make it past Chiyuri on normal. So if Yumemi is said to be even worse... That terrifies me! That thought legitimately terrifies me!
Edit: Finally got past Chiyuri, and... Yeah. Yumemi is just as bad as I could've imagined. I had four lives going in, and she easily wiped through all of them.
