If you want to connect the 2 stepped foundations but not want to use the visible steps you can use a fence foundation on the joining edge to connect them almost invisible. Also when using something to build a bridge across water without visible pillars (floating bridge) you don't want all those huge foundations at the bottom of the river. You want to see the sand and water plants as much as posible. This can be done by making a link of fence foundations at the bottom across. And placing a single pillar every 5 fence foundations. At one side you snap a foundation to the first pillar this is where you connect your floating bridge. The bridge can be made of ceilings ramps and stairs. This is the minimum to support a floating bridge.
I didn't know about the connection between foundations, and using stairs to connect them was brilliant. I'd been trying to figure out why I can't continue outward even though I have foundations below. Now I know it's because they weren't connected. It was genius how you made the staircase go up the hill, never been able to figure that out either. I've found several videos that explain it but could never understand them. You might also consider showing how to make ceilings flush with foundations, by using the double doorframe and two ceilings. Thanx for this, and keep up the 👍 work.
ARK is triggering my OCD so badly right now. T^T I constantly forget all the stupid arbitrary building rules in ARK and I hate it. Thank you for the timely guide! Looking forward to the build in the next video.

I like you didn't use admin cheats so ppl can see this done the way the game is meant to play. Easy and simple to follow as well showing beginners errors so they can learn faster.
I just started playing a couple of days ago. I was trying to build my base into the side of a giant non breakable rock. However I was only able to place about 4 foundations into the rock. Tried a couple different things. Watched some other videos. I still can’t figure it out even after this video. Any ideas.
If you are playing on PC you could try a building mod like Structures Plus (S+) or Castles, Keeps & Forts to achieve what you're trying to do. But foundations into a rock will be very difficult. Once you have been to Aberation you will unlock cliff platforms that will give you that option, well sort of
