So, Fogerty grew up in California, but he learned all of his music skills listening to Delta blues, so a lot of his singing has a Cajun spin. It's easiest to hear when he turns "er"s into "oy"s

@@markbrubaker466Yeah Mardi Gras was a collaboration because everyone was jealous of John. You can hear it in the snarky lyrics of Take It Like A Friend. John was the real talent, he wrote every note for every instrument in the band, then told the other 3 what to play on the other albums. They were literally overtaking the Beatles as biggest band in the world, but abruptly broke up.

The band are from El Cerrito San Francisco. John Fogerty's passion was the Louisiana Bayou's. He actually created Swamp Rock. Many people thought they were from the deep south. Listen to "Born On The Bayou" for example, John twists the sound of his words on many songs.

You did this right, Van!! Very few ever react to the long version of this CCR cover. Another long version you should react to is CCR's Suzie Q. A great song too. When I was 13 or 14, I saw CCR at the Budokan in Tokyo. It was 1971 or 72. All us siblings and my mom went and we sat on the upper level. Just before CCR came out, an earthquake rocked the stadium. We were hanging on to our seats while the building swayed. The the band came out. John Fogerty went to the mic and thanked the Japanese fans for such an awesome welcome, referring of course to the earthquake. Great memory.

Shame is when this was active on radio back then they rarely played this longer version as it was not in tune with the radio programming ad quotas. The part of song where they bring in the funky part blew me away and the way they wind it down. They had to play this how many times to make this the final product

The Temptations were a great Motown band and did this song. However Marvin Gaye wrote it. I’m glad you did the long version of this song. John and Doug really put soul into this song.
Just listened to this album a couple days ago. Cosmo’s Factory is a great album but every one of their albums rock. Christmas of 69 changed my life. My grandmother gave me CCR’s first album. Thanks grandma, I will never forget you.

Everybody tellin' you to listen to CCR coverin' R&B classics, but I'm goin' the other direction.
You know Tina Turner's "Proud Mary", I know. But that was _originally_ a CCR song, written by John Fogerty and released in '68 or '69.

John Fogerty, lead singer, Tom Fogerty , rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on base, Doug Clifford on drums, they all harmonized with lead singer John Fogerty who also played lead guitar . It was Clifford on the cowbell. Really enjoyed your reaction to a great CCR cover of A great Marvin Gaye classic. For another great CCR song( their own) check out “Ramble Tamble”, and also “ Keep on Chooglin”, assuming you’ve already reacted to “Proud Mary “ which John Fogerty wrote. Great video!! Keep up the good work!, 😎👍👍
